[Bridge] couple of bugs and patches for bridge-utils
Hi!
We have received at Debian a couple of bugs and typos that apply to the
bridge-utils code and I'd like to share them with the community so that they
can be fixed for everybody, most of the bugreports have patches or show the
typos made on doc.
Here they are:

[Bridge] patch for a message bug
Hi!
Jens Seidel reported a bug to Debian about a wrong message on brctl, you can
see it at http://bugs.debian.org/383938, it is kind of the continuation of
the ENODEV bug #348617 that was already patched by Stephen on the git.
I have applied the same solution that Stephen applied for the first one,
follows the patch against git plus a minor exclamation mark modification I
did so that all ENODEV

Negative caching of DNS queries never expires?
Hi!
I was doing some tests with a samba 3.0.2a server set up to be a wins server
and to do dns proxy, and I have found that when you queried nmbd for a name
ahta was not on wins db or found on DNS, the negative response is cached
either for a really long time or forever, in such a way that even though you
add the name to the DNS, you won't get a positive answer out of nmbd
anymore.

bad performance on 2.4.23
hi,
- big and ugly mail. If you don't like them, delete it now :-) -
I have collected and classified some information of:
http://home.earthlink.net/~rwhron/kernel/bigbox.html
And I observed that ext3 performance is worse than previous
kernels(2.4.19...). -ac and -aa are here only as reference.
Complete information is in the upper URL.
dbench: Performance is worse.

[Bridge] recent 2.6 kernels hang on bridge shutdown - solved
Folks,
For what it's worth I used to have the hang at shutdown with brnf and kernel
2.4.26. An fsck on the boot drive fixed it (telling me it had nothing to do
with whatever kernel I was running)...have you tried that?

[Bridge] 2.6.12: iptables connection tracking broken on bridge interfaces
Hi!
As noted by Chris Rankin on a mail to netfilter-devel and to the
linux-kernel mailing list (subject: 2.6.12: connection tracking broken?),
there is a problem with the connection tracking of iptables when one of the
interfaces is a bridge.
On my tests here I have setup a connection between two machines using a real
interface (eth0) and then the same setup using a bridge interface (br0) to

Fair queueing: SFQ vs TBF
Hello,
I have one Q. What is better when using as leaf in one leaf with
several hosts (like subnet) to splice traffic equaly to user number?
Like 2 users = 256/2, 3 = 256/3 and so on. WRR was pretty good for this
job, but it''s only for 2.4.21 kernels and mine''s 2.4.22.
So what is better: SFQ or TBF?

Problems with crashing IBM X3630 M3/ZFS
Hello. I've got a quartet of IBM x3630 M3 with one that is frequently
hard locking under heavy NFS load. I am running 9.0-RELEASE with all
the patches from freebsd-update.
My problem machine has 8 16 core clients, each doing IO intensive tasks
connected to it via a Procurve and the onboard igb0 interface. Mostly
network reads, typically 10MB read per MB written.
When the machine locks

May be deadlock for wrong locking order, patch request reviewed, thanks
As we test the ocfs2 cluster, the cluster is sometime hangs up.
I got some information about the dead lock, which cause the cluster hangs up, the sys dir / lock is held and the node did not release it which cause the cluster hangs up.

Hard system restart when DRBD connection fails while in use
Hi all,
I have two nodes (A+B) running a DRBD file system (using OCFS2) on /shared.
If I start say, an FTP file transfer to my drbd /shared directory on node A, then reboot node B which is the other machine in a Primary-Primary DRBD configuration while the transfer is in progress - node A stops at a similar time that DRBD notices the connection with Node B has been lost (hence crippling both

[Bridge] Problem loading bridge.o
Hello, I want to add wireless capability to my Gentoo-linux based
firewall/router at home, so I bought a Netgear MA311 PCI and installed
the hostap package. I load the hostap_pci module and the wlan0 interface
comes up fine. I can detect the signal from a wireless enabled laptop.
Now I'm thinking I'm going to bridge the wlan0 interface and the eth1
interface, and run the firewall with br0

linux-2.4.22 + bridge + traffic control by MAC.
Dear all,
I am working on a linux box (2.4.22 kernel) which is used as a
bridge. And I want to add traffic control rules on it by client''s MAC.
Does anyone has such experience on how to do that? Thank you very
much!!
Best regards,

7.0-stable: a hung process - scheduler bug?
Hello!
I was trying to build OpenOffice using all of my 4 CPUs. To be able to
do other work on the machine comfortably, I ran the build under nice,
and assigned real-time priority to the two Xorg processes.
The build started at about 23:10 last night, and hung at 23:46. The
procstat output for the make's process group is:

[Bridge] [RELEASE] ebtables-brnf-3-vs-2.4.22 and ebtables-2-0-6
Hi,
At http://sourceforge.net/projects/ebtables/ you can find the following new
releases:
ebtables-brnf-3-vs-2.4.22
Changes:
- let iptables see VLAN tagged IP traffic
- bugfix for queued packets that get mangled in userspace
- ebt_among module (Grzegorz Borowiak)
- ebt_limit module (Tom Marshall)
The patch compiles but I've done no further tests, but I probably didn't screw
up.

EXT3 deadlock in 2.4.22 and 2.4.23-pre7 - quota related?
Hi all, and particularly Andrew and Stephen,
I recently "upgraded' one of my NFS fileservers from (patched)2.4.18
to 2.4.23-pre7 (in order to resolve a HIMEM related memory pressure
problem).
Unfortunately I have experienced what appears to be a deadlock.
The one I will describe was experienced while running 2.4.23-pre7,
though I had a very similar problem in 2.4.22 (but
