[Bridge] Bridging a wireless/wired LAN and a PPPoE connection
Hi all,
I'm trying out bridging for my wireless and wired LAN, so that they can
both use my PPPoE connection. Here's the network structure, pretty easy:
darjeeling (192.168.1.7) ringo (192.168.1.3)
(mtu 1500) (mtu 1500)

\ wlan0 <--br0 (mtu 1500)--> eth1

Configure wireless USB ethernet
I have a system that does *not* have a graphical desktop installed, nor do
I ever plan to. I have its wired ethernet working just peachy. Now I want
to configure a USB wireless ethernet and scratching my head. Particularly
since I don't use NetworkManager, everything is manually configured.
That said, if I enable NM, I see this in /var/log/messages:

bridge. When I issue a "showmacs" command to brctl, I am able to see
MAC addresses from both networks. I am also able to ping both networks
from the bridge machine. When I issue a "showstp" command to brctl, the

[Bridge] Problem loading bridge.o
Hello, I want to add wireless capability to my Gentoo-linux based
firewall/router at home, so I bought a Netgear MA311 PCI and installed
the hostap package. I load the hostap_pci module and the wlan0 interface
comes up fine. I can detect the signal from a wireless enabled laptop.
Now I'm thinking I'm going to bridge the wlan0 interface and the eth1
interface, and run the firewall with br0

[Bridge] [PATCH tip/core/rcu 04/13] wireless: Apply rcu_access_pointer() to avoid sparse false positive
From: "Paul E. McKenney" <paulmck at linux.vnet.ibm.com>
The sparse checking for rcu_assign_pointer() was recently upgraded
to reject non-__kernel address spaces. This also rejects __rcu,
which is almost always the right thing to do. However, the uses in
cfg80211_combine_bsses() and cfg80211_bss_update() are legitimate:

Linksys WET11 (ethernet to wireless bridge) with bridge-utils.
Mark Mathews was kind enough to respond and described a situation he
called "b/mcast echo". From his reply:
"
Because of the games that have to be played to build WLAN station bridge
devices, some have a problem with what I call 'b/mcast
