3.2 kernel with C5? Or ndiswrapper?
I know, I know... don't use the non-standard kernels unless you have to...
BUT: I have a D-Link N150 USB card.
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0846:9030 NetGear, Inc. WNA1100 Wireless-N 150 [Atheros AR9271]
This isn't supported in C5, but it is supported in newer kernels (ath9k_htc).
So let's try NDISwrapper:
# rpm -i kmod\-ndiswrapper\-1.56\-1.el5.elrepo.i686.rpm

Custom kernel needed for ndiswrapper? (for Linksys WPC54G wireless pcmcia)
Greetings:
I'm just installed Centos-4 on an IBM T-21 laptop. So far so good. Now
I'd like to pop in a wireless lan adapter. I'm looking at a buying a
Linksys WPC54G adapter (although I haven't done so yet).
After doing some searching, it looks like the best way to get this card
working is via ndiswrapper [http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net] and then
to use Windoze

[Bridge] Setting the interfaces in promiscuous mode
Hello,
I have been using the bridging facilities provided by Linux (vanilla
2.6.7 SMP with UML skas host patch applied) to bridge a regular
physical ethernet network (on interface eth0) with a virtual network
(on interface tap0, cf uml_switch,
http://user-mode-linux.sourceforge.net/networking.html). A couple of
virtual machines (run using user-mode linux, a tool that enables you

[Bridge] Two entries in forwarding database
I'm debugging a strange problem of noncommunication between two devices.
The test configuration is also strange, and involves loops. Things
magically start working when I run tcpdump to put the bridge interface into
promiscuous mode. I also noticed this in the output of brctl showmacs.

[Bridge] Misbehaving bridge...
I'm trying to bridge a wired network and a wireless network, but I'm
having some trouble. No traffic seems to be passing through the
bridge. When I issue a "showmacs" command to brctl, I am able to see
MAC addresses from both networks. I am also able to ping both networks
from the bridge machine. When I issue a "showstp" command to brctl, the

Dell TrueMobile 1400 Wireless card
Has anyone had any luck with getting the Dell TrueMobile 1400 A/B/G
wireless card working under Linux? I have experimented with ndiswrapper,
i have had nothing but problems trying to get it to work. I was
wondering if anyone has found a native Linux driver for the card. It
uses a Broadcom 4309 chipset.

[Bridge] NIC unicast macs table manipulation by bridge
Using a Linux bridge I see that none of the interfaces is set to promiscuous
mode but on the other hand I don't see any dev_unicast_xxx calls in the
bridge code... for the case of one of the interfaces being a physical NIC
(e.g eth1), what's the magic that makes the NIC RX filtering be willing
to accept frames whos dest mac isn't the NIC "primary" unicast mac?

fxp multicast forwarding problems
Hi,
Whilst doing some QA work on XORP on my desktop, which has fxp0 and
msk0, fxp0 got totally hosed.
I was running PIM-SM and IGMPv2 router-mode on the box at the time.
I wonder if this is related to the problems with fxp multicast
transmission I saw back in April.
I'm a bit concerned about this as fxp is still a very widespread and
useful network chip.
I am running

Questions from a total beginner
Hello,
I would like to setup an * system but have no experience with Linux and am just learning about VoIP. My programming experience is pretty limited as well, so I may be getting in way over my head, but I am willing to take the time to figure out how to use *.
I'd like to use * to create a PBX that initially would include myself and three or four individuals who are located in separate

ipw3945 wireless not working
This is a new Centos 5.1 install on a HP nc2400 (that use to run XP).
Completely clean install; blew away the XP partitions...
After applying all the updates, and configuring for the rpmforge repo, I
used yumex to install dkms and the dkms-ipw3945, ipw3945-firmware, and
ipw3945d rpms.
lsmod|grep ipw shows:
ipw3945 180391 1

wifi cluelessness
The nice folks at work have just provided me with a new, really spiffy,
ThinkPad. So, I''m trying to get wireless working under CentOS4 and I''m
having trouble. First, I can''t seem to find any rpms to just install
(this would be really nice). And, second, when I try to build it from the
src.rpm that I pulled from the atrpms repository with "rpmbuild

Ndiswrapper refuses to install?
Hi everyone! :-)
I have a problem with making a wireless USB dongle work under CentOS 6. The
dongle is known to not work natively under Linux and last time I used it (cca
3 years ago) I managed to get it working using ndiswrapper.
This time I was hoping to make it work again in the same way. But the "yum
install kmod-ndiswrapper" reports the following (among other regular stuff):

Best Wireless bridge for Polycoms
Hi,
I'm stuck doing an install with Polycoms at a small office with no RJ-45.
They went wireless 100%, poor them. I insist on using Polycom unless it's
impossible because that's what I am standardized on for many reasons.
What's the best way/device to turn a wired Polycom 501 (or any Polycom for
that matter) into a WiFi phone?

CentOS 5 and ndiswrapper
This is an abbreviated version of an e-mail that I also posted to the
ndiswrapper mailing list. Compressing the long story, I ran into the
same problem using CentOS 5 as I had with Fedora Core 6 and ndiswrapper:
my laptop (HP Pavilion zv6000 series with a Broadcom BCM43xx wireless
NIC) would lock up or spontaneously reboot after a few hours if I
brought up the wireless interface. I also

ndiswrapper and 4K stacks problem (system freezes)
Hi Folks,
I'm trying tio install WLAN - USB - Stick Netgear WG111v3.
ndiswrapper -i wg111v3
works.
I can see ndiswrapper -l
wg111v3: driver installed
device (0846:4260) present
But after modprobe ndiswrapper the system freezes.
Troublshooting on ndiswrapper-sites says:
It's a problem of "kernel is using 4K stacks (CONFIG_4KSTACKS)"
Solution: recompile the kernel.

bridge with IP address, "received packet with own address as source address"
Hi,
I''ve set up identical (what I think) machines using SLES 10 x86_64, but a new one
of those is saying frequently in /var/log/messages:
kernel: bond0: received packet with own address as source address
A short summary of ifconfig looks like this:

inet addr:132.199.176.78 Bcast:132.199.255.255 Mask:255.255.0.0

Recommended wireless card (or is there a chance to get either iwi or ath fixed)?
Hi,
after some time without FreeBSD I installed 7.1 on an IBM Thinkpad T30
