Wondershaper 1.1a bandwidth speed test gives me uplink speed instead of downlink
I have been testing wondershaper 1.1a with htb. DOWNLINK=2304 UPLINK=1024 DEV=wlan0 No other changes have been made, except to comment out the 2 lines to allow the script to run. When I do a speed test from sites like www.toast.net/performance, I only get speeds equal to my UPLINK speed. I expected a speed closer to the DOWNLINK. Am I missing something here? Wireless Ad Hoc and TEQL
I''m trying to follow Chapter 10 of the howto and apply it to two ubuntu machines each with two 802.11b/g interfaces. However, I cannot get a connection. I would like the 4 interfaces to create 2 ad hoc links on separate channels. I have set this up successfully with the following: /etc/dbus-1/event.d/25NetworkManager stop wlanconfig ath0 destroy wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0

Problems getting my wireles connection to work
I have an Everex laptop (ick, but it was super cheap) that has an Atheros wireless NIC in it, but I can't seem to get it to connect to my wireless in-home LAN. Here's what I've done so far (that isn't working) - any suggestions? [root at marktop mark]# lspci | grep Ether 00:12.0 Ethernet controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. Wireless cannot ping gateway after 6.3 CR updates
I'm having a wireless connection issue with an HP laptop and a Zotac media server after the 6.4 package updates from CR repository. Nothing changed with wireless config as far as I can tell. Both have been working fine with previous releases of 6.x. Oddly, if a cat 5 cable is connected for a few seconds and then disconnected the wireless works fine and survives a 'service network

3.2 kernel with C5? Or ndiswrapper?
I know, I know... don't use the non-standard kernels unless you have to... BUT: I have a D-Link N150 USB card. Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0846:9030 NetGear, Inc. WNA1100 Wireless-N 150 [Atheros AR9271] This isn't supported in C5, but it is supported in newer kernels (ath9k_htc). So let's try NDISwrapper: # rpm -i kmod\-ndiswrapper\-1.56\-1.el5.elrepo.i686.rpm

CentOS 7.2 laptop wireless Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 2230 (rev c4)
Hello Philip, In my test cases on Centos 6 or 7 I always run an elrepo kernel or build my own one from rewritten spec file. That helps me out to get Centos work as good it can be. Personal playground, those packages are unsigned!!! http://centos.cms4all.org/centos/7/ <http://centos.cms4all.org/centos/7/> <kernel> noarch git firmware kernel ml aufs - oh I was lazy <gstreamer>

Hi John, Thank you, elrepo sounds good to know about -- http://elrepo.org/tiki/About says is an extra repository for hardware support. Still not clear how to troubleshoot the problem so I know what to install from elrepo. I know that a spec file is involved in creating an RPM file; do you mean that you make your own kernel RPM? Good morning Philip, - To install a most vanilla kernel elrepo is a quick step look forward about kernel solution - Yes build own kernel by a special kernel specification for your machine. Why not? - Frozen a kernel in fact ?it works? with the right firmware for your wifi is a good solution. I got a mixed network with Windows 3.11 up to Windows 10 and Linux with OpenSuse, Ubuntu and a HPC Centos

CentOS5 and ipw2200
Hi all! I tried to use CentOS5 on an IBM Thinkpad R52 which has an Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Mini-PCI Adapter installed. I downloaded the firmware from the DAG-Repo (afaik 3.0.0) and added a "alias eth1 ipw2200" to modules.conf. After the module was loaded successfully (including the firmware) I was able to configure the card. For simplicity I didn't use any encryption. My

Help with Dell Latitude, CentOS 5, and intel 3945abg wireless
I've visited several web pages, including Dell's, for help in getting the wireless card activated. lspci shows it, but iwconfig doesn't list it. I also visited linux.dell.com and downloaded and installed the 64-bit Fedora 7 RPMs, but couldn't get anywhere. dellwirelessctl also doesn't show up anywhere. I'm running a fully updated kernel/distro. What am I missing?

wep key generator
Dear All, I have this same problem on my ubuntu as in my Centos linux. when i use NetworkManager to connect to my NetGear Access Point with WEP security, the passphrase seems that do not make the correct KEY, so i had to check in the NetGear and enter it manually in EX mode, using iwconfig on CentOS and the networking utility in ubuntu. Ok, after this introduction this is my question. Do you

Madwifi drivers afeter 2.6.18-128.
I have a atheros wiifi card on my Centos 5 that I use as a access point using hostapd. I noticed that after the upgrade to kernel 2.6.18-128 or above, the atheros driver comes with the kernel, ath5k, and it does?t let hostpad ou iwconfig set master mode on the card. Up to kernel 2.6.18-92 is workedd just fine using madwifi from rpmforge. Any ideas on that? Tks.

Lost my madwifi setup
I rebuilt my notebook that has the atheros card in it, and forgot to save all of my setup to get it working. I am using dkms and the madwifi rpms from rpmforge. My modprobe.conf has a line: alias wifi0 ath_pci I can ifconfig wifi0 up But the command: /usr/sbin/wpa_supplicant wpa_supplicant -dd -D madwifi -i wifi0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf fails. Now some of my old
