[Bridge] Bridge utilities compatible driver
Hi guys I am writing a serial network driver. My aim is to bridge two ethernets across a serial bridge. Unfortunately the channel is noisy and slip and ppp are too unreliable. The driver appears to work by itself and allows two computers to ping each other across a null modem cable. The network driver code permits Linux OS ARPing support for ethernet and MAC addresses are manually assigned

How to assign week numbers to a time-series
Hello everyone, My progress has stalled on finding a way of creating a somewhat complicated variable to add to my existing dataframe and I am hoping one of you could help me out. The dataframe below contains only a fraction of the data of my complete dataframe, but all of the variables. What I want to do is add another variable named 'WEEK' to this dataframe that is assigned 1 for row 1

[Bridge] Bridging Firewall with Kernel 2.6 failed
Hi all, I have a bridging firewall running fine with kernel 2.4.31 (Slackware 10.1) and iptables 1.2.11 Yesterday I install the new kernel 2.6.14.3 and iptables 1.3.4 but the bridging firewall doesn't work anymore. Do I need to patch the kernel 2.6 as what I did it for kernel 2.4? Or what I have missed? Regards, ro0ot

[Bridge] how to install
Hi Im new to Linux and I found out about http://bridge.sf.net from a magazine that I subscribe to. It explains everything about setting it up bridges, but not how to install the package from the site. I ran ./configure, which went fine, and I tried to run ./install-sh, but it keeps asking for a destination. Currently Im running FC3 and I know the kernel is 2.6 or highter on FC3 so

deSolve question
Dear All, I like to simulate a physiologically based pharmacokinetics model using R but am having a problem with the daspk routine. The same problem has been implemented in Berkeley madonna and Winbugs so that I know that it is working. However, with daspk it is not, and the numbers are everywhere! Please see the following and let me know if I am missing something... Thanks a lot in advance,

Domain controller could not be contacted
I recently upgrade a Samba server, that was happily acting as a PDC for a school, from 3.2 to 3.4.7. This was done via an upgrade to Ubuntu (from 9.04 to 10.04LTS). Of course, the Ubuntu upgrade caused a bunch of issues, most of which were managed without undue stress. The remaining issues are with Samba's configuration. This is a fairly simple Samba configuration using the TDB password

[Bridge] Little problem with 1.x versions (if_indextoname)
Hi, I have used bridge-utils 0.9.6 so far in a kernel 2.4.26, uClibc and ppc environment. When I use version 1.0.3 I have the problem that I do not see the brige with the 'brctl show' command if it is not fully set up. It was working with 0.9.6. I tracked the problem down to an 'incompatibility' in bridge/uClibc/kernel. 0.9.6 uses its own if_indextoname function which uses the

[Bridge] bridge doesn't broadcast properly
Hello list, I'm setting up a virtual network consisting of several UMLs (User Mode Linux) connected with the virtual bridge. Communications works quite well between the host and the virtual machines. Setup: 2 UMLs connected via tap-devices to the bridge (tap1,tap2). The host uses the bridge-device br0 to talk to the clients. Now I want to tcpdump the traffic between host and UML1 on virtual

[Bridge] Bridge not working...
I've got a 2.6.8 kernel with bridging enabled as a module, two nics (LNE100TX and RTL8139) and i've run the following commands with no errors modprobe -v bridge brctl addbr br0 brctl addif br0 eth0 brctl addif br0 eth1 both interfaces have 0.0.0.0 as their addresses and brctl showmacs br0 shows the macs for both internal cards. However, bridging doesn't seem to be working at all.

[Bridge] control packet flow
Greetings all. I need a transparent way of selectively controlling packet flow between two network devices such that for example I can "see" [e.g. tcpdump] a packet coming into eth0, queue it, and then manually release it out eth1, one packet at a time. See diagram below. (Reason for doing this is to watch the behavior of the device under test to certain packets but I cannot control

[Bridge] Bridging multiple tap interfaces
Is it possible to bridge multiple "tap" interfaces in Linux? When two tap interfaces are bridged together they are unable to "see" each other but they can bridge to external Ethernet interfaces or the hosts IP attached on the bridge. I saw some mention in the mailing list archives on bridging two user space processes but it didn't seem to have any conclusion. I also

[Bridge] [RFC] bridge kernel API change
Here is the proposed revision to the bridge utilities interface to the kernel. The driving force is that the existing interface can't easily be converted to 32/64 bit compat. Right now, the bridge-utils (brctl) tries to handle 32bit command on 64 bit kernel, but the code is limited to sparc and wrong. Here is what I am thinking. get version - not needed? get bridges -
