Maybe a bug of xen
Hi! Maybe, I found a bug of xen. My system: - domain0 - gentoo - xen-devel-3.0, kernel 2.6.12.5-r1 - domain1 - debian - kernel 2.6.12.5-r1 (2 interface: vif1.1 = eth0 (0.0.0.0), vif1.2 = eth1 (10.0.1.1 + gw 10.0.1.2)) Bridge: xen-br0 (config as 10.0.1.2) include (vif1.2, vif0.0) xen-br1 (config as 0.0.0.0) include (vif1.1, peth0) On server domain1 I use a pppoe server. PCI Passthrough of NIC
Hello, I have been using Xen on a Debian Lenny server for quite some time. I decided to build a new Dom0 using identical hardware, but newest version of Xen from repositories with Debian Squeeze. I attempting to create a new DomU on the new host which is similar to an existing DomU running on the older Lenny host. The DomU is a three NIC firewall. Two of the NICs are virtualized. One NIC is a

[Bridge] Re: Bridge Digest, Vol 31, Issue 6
Hello You must add first: vlan (tagged) to eth2 eth2 interface is not tagged by default and not know vlan-s . It is like a cisco if you have 24 ports in cisco by default all ports are in vlan1. if you want to do trunk (with vlans) you myst add (vlans) to this ports (tagged or untagged) So you can compare that all interfaces in linux by default are in one vlan(but not tagged). DomU (Centos 5) with dedicated e1000 (intel) device dropping packets
Hello everybody, I''ve finished with pci export from DomU to Dom0 (Debian Etch) but now i have a new problem, and a big one. My ethernet card is dropping packets but after some time (i can''t tell how) It can work for a day (not in production so not hard tested) and then all packets are dropped. Look at the ifconfig output : eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr

Nic order detection
I have a number of machines that have 4 NICs, two of which are actually in use, running Centos 5. When they are rebooted, they seem to change the eth interface names, assigning them in different orders. I'm a little fuzzy on the details because they are at a remote location and I can't access them easily - especially after the network breaks. Shouldn't: alias eth0 bnx2 alias

Pb routing/fwmark
Hi, I have a computer which is used as router/firewall/VPN with four network card. One connected on the LAN (br0, 10.0.0.0/24), the three others to three different ISP, eth0 192.168.1.0/29, eth1 192.168.0.0/24, eth2 192.168.2.0/29. This computer is under Linux 2.6.11 with the Julian Anastasov routes patch. The configuration by default is to balance the load on the three interfaces. Then, I

Traffic Shaping and Bridge
Hi All, I''m using Shorewall 3.0.4 and I''m wondering if it is possible to do traffic shapping on only one interface from a bridge. The firewall has got 3 NIC, eth0, eth1, eth2. eth0 and eth2 are bridged, but if I''m right, when you specify a traffic rate for a link, you do it for the interface. In my case, eth0 and eth2 do not appear in the interface file, but it is

maclist problem on a firewall/bridge/router system with masquerading
Hy, sorry for my poor english i think i''m having a very unusual problem and very dificult to track, but i''ll try to explain it as best as i can. here is my scenario: a firewall/bridge composed of 3 ethernet devices and 1 virtual one. my bridge (br0 ) is composed of eth0, eth1 and tap0 br0:eth0 is my connection to my router (200.244.92.1) br0:eth1 is my connection to my

Hi all, I''m having a hell of a time getting my IFB to work. I know I''ve done this before, so I''m missing something stupid. Can anybody tell me what it might be? [Bridge] Unexpected bridge behavior (Bug? You decide.)
While using the linux bridge module in 2.6.10, the kernel seems to munge the source IP address of broadcast UDP packets if they come from "0.0.0.1", and sticks on an address of the linux host. I humbly submit that re-writing the source address of packets is not proper behavior for a bridge, even if those source addresses are not traditionally valid. Sure, 0.0.0.1 isn't a valid

Dual personality Server (network pass through)
I have 3 nics in a NATed gateway file server. Two nics (eth1, eth2) provide dhcp and nfs services to an internal subnet via a dedicated switch. The other nic (eth0) connects to an external WAN switch to provide net access to the systems in the subnet. --- eth1 WAN switch eth0 --- | SUBNET switch --- eth2 Question: Is it

Setup multiple bridges for use with KVM
Running CentOS 5.4 x64. Have successfully bridged eth2 with br2 by following the instructions here: http://wiki.libvirt.org/page/Networking (under the RHEL section) Have been running several KVM VMs successfully via this bridge. I am now trying to bridge additional interfaces by using the same routine. Each bridge is named to correspond with the ethX device its bridged with. Example of

Trouble redirecting traffic on transparent bridge.
I have posted this question to the netfilter mailing list along with #ebtables, #iptables, and #netfilter. Nobody has really responded, so I''m led to believe that it is either incredibly complicated or *really* simple. Please, somebody throw me a bone here! Ok, on with the show... I have a bridge (br0) with two interfaces (eth1 and eth2). Neither br0, eth1, or eth2 have an

What I learned about Linux bridging
Here are some notes I have about Linux bridging. I''ll try to separate what I know I know from what I think I know. Let''s say I want to bridge eth0, eth1, and eth2 together, all with an IP Address of, say, 1.2.3.2. This is how to do it: echo "Setting up br0 to bridge eth0 with eth1 and eth2" /usr/sbin/brctl addbr br0 /usr/sbin/brctl addif br0 eth0

Bizarre Networking
Hi, I''ve bit the bullet and gone with Xen, but I get some odd networking. Basically, this was the original idea. eth0 external eth1 internal create bridge br0 for eth0 create bridge br1 for eth1 Strip IP addresses for eth0 and eth1 and assign to br0 and br1 respectively. Worked great in a non-xen kernel under Fedora 8 in KVM/Qemu. Booting into Xen, my eth1 becomes eth2, I also get
