[Bridge] strange networking behaviour with a bridge in game
hi list
I have a strange problem here. Maybe it is normal behavior and i search
within the wrong direction. Probably someone here can give me a hint.
I have a device (rhel4 kernel 2.6.9) with 3 interfaces. 2 interfaces
(eth0, eth2) are bridged together (br0) and the bridge device has an ip
address assigned (192.168.11.15).
Another interface (eth1) has assigned 10.7.0.10.
So far so good.

loadbalancing multipath routing frequently freezes udp connections
hi
i recently searched in the mailinglist archive and found similar
problems, whose solutions helped very much, thank you.
i have the following scenario:
a firewall with one lan interface
eth0 10.1.1.1/24
and two uplink interfaces
eth1 10.2.2.1/24
eth2 10.3.3.1/24
each uplink interface does SNAT:
iptables -t nat -I POSTROUTING -o eth1 -j SNAT --to-source 10.2.2.1
iptables -t nat -I POSTROUTING

[Bridge] bridge nf vs. 2.4.29
Hello List,
Are there any known issues in using the bridge-nf patch for kernel
v2.4.28 against 2.4.29 or can it be used in production environments? is
there already an adopted version of the patch for 2.4.29?
Sorry if this question has already been answered elsewhere (I didn't
find something useful on google, cvs and the list).
Thanks, Marc

[Bridge] Bridging with STP seems to learn mac-address on wrong ports
I have two multi-port bridges connected together with a lot of cables.
Current setup is as follows:
--------eth0-------
| |
[Bridge A] <-eth1-> [Bridge B]
| |
--------eth5-------
Bridge A is root-bridge, and eth0 is set to lowest path-cost.
Consequently on Bridge B interfaces eth1 and eth5 are in blocking state.
However, when looking

[Bridge] Lost TCP packet
Hi,
i am testing two bridges by sending to it random packets using hping2.
First i create a random-length file, then i send it a lot of time on
the wire using this command:
for ($i=0; $i<50000; $i++) { hping2 -q -c 1 -d $data_len -E
random.file 10.0.0.10 }
My problem is that some packets are lost.
Here is my setup:
PC1 (10.0.0.1) ===== BR1 --------- BR2 ===== PC2 (10.0.0.10)

I am very new to linux, sorry if my doubt is not valid, or i m asking some nonsense question..
Actually i want to use Linux as bridge. My setup is :
Setup 1) i have two bridge (dlink) with 1 port connected to 1-1 windows PCs.I have configured ip addresses of both PC to same subnet. Now both the Pc are in same subnet and two bridges which are connected, so both r pinging to each other.

My host windows dont ping my domain
Hi,
After adding my domain machine I realized that after 15 minutes it
stopped pinging my domain. Interesting that this only happens in windows
machines.
I already checked the logs and did not notice anything.
Does anyone have any light?
Thanks

My host windows dont ping my domain
Hai,
A copy of smb.conf is very handy, same as the running os.
Follow these 2, and tell us what works and what not.
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/DNS_Administration#Testing_your_DNS_Server
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Testing_the_DNS_Name_Resolution
And do the following.
Clear the windows event log, reboot, and ping the domain.
Now wait 15 min, ping again to confirm its still not

[Bridge] Packet loss when ~400 virtual machine connected to a bridge
Hello everyone,
We have a physical server that hosts about 400 virtual machines. Each virtual machine has a TAP device connected to a Linux bridge. We tried to use Linux-KVM suggestions for QEMU networking according to this link https://www.linux-kvm.org/page/10G_NIC_performance:_VFIO_vs_virtio
Unfortunately, we have a packet loss when pinging virtual machines' IP addresses. Pining the

[Bridge] problems with bridging and dhcp
Hello,
I'm trying to use bridging in our servers and found a problem with
dhcp. Some clients manage to get an IP from the server, using
DHCPDISCOVER/DHCPREQUEST. However others use BOOTREQUEST and these
don't seem to get an answer. The server sends a BOOTREPLY but the
clients continue to send BOOTREQUEST for ever. There are also some
(occasional) messages from the dhcp server like

[Bridge] Interesting fragmentation behavior with gretap interface.
I'm trying to bridge a mix of 802.1q tagged and untagged Ethernet frames

interface, which is bridged with their respective gretap

[Bridge] received packet with own address as source address
Hello,
I manage a number of servers all running 2.4 (same problem exists with 2.6). My
problem is that since a few bridge versions ago, I've had to modify
net/bridge/br_fdb.c in the br_fdb_insert() function -- to get rid of the checks
that produce this error:
Jan 16 10:35:31 host15 kernel: tap_0: received packet with own address as source
address
Jan 16 10:35:33 host15 kernel: tap_0:

[Bridge] bridge slow in allowing connection
Hi,
I recently upgraded the kernel in my Debian server from 2.4.22 to 2.6.9. This
server acts as router and has an ethernet bridge (br0) that combines eth1 and
eth2. Each of these two network cards is connected to one Windows PC.
Since I booted kernel 2.6.9 it takes more than one minute for a client pc to
receive its IP address when that one starts up. I noticed that the kernel
messages (shown

[Bridge] 2.6.12: iptables connection tracking broken on bridge interfaces
Hi!
As noted by Chris Rankin on a mail to netfilter-devel and to the
linux-kernel mailing list (subject: 2.6.12: connection tracking broken?),
there is a problem with the connection tracking of iptables when one of the
interfaces is a bridge.
On my tests here I have setup a connection between two machines using a real
interface (eth0) and then the same setup using a bridge interface (br0) to
