VPN over PPP - more detail
Hi All,
Let me try again, this time with fixed width !
First off the scenario. We have a local and remote site, both of which
connect to the internet via a wireless network. The wireless cards
themselves have both an ethernet (ixp1) and an "Atheros" (ath0)
interface. The devices connect via PPPoE, and so there is also a ppp0
interface on each device.
On one side we have :

VPN through PPP
Hi all,
This is probably not the right place for this question, but maybe
someone can help me out. I am trying to setup a VPN between two private
addresses, using iproute2 (which is my only excuse for mailing this list).
The setup is as below :

using pam_winbind to authenticate PPP?
I'm trying to set up a Linux-based dialin server on our company network.
I'd like to have PPP authenticate using winbindd, if possible. I feel like
I've almost gotten it to work, but I can't quite get there. Files:
/etc/pam.d/ppp:

auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_winbind.so

Problem connecting to Samba server over PPP connection
Hi,
I'm trying to connect to my samba server over a PPP connection (which is
actually a PPTP VPN connection). I've got the PPP link configured and the
routing setup so I can ping back and forth between the server and client,
and I can also make tcp connections over the link. The server which samba is
running on has a LAN connection in addition to the PPP connection, and I can
connect to

ppp connection only every second time
hello everyone,
i am setting up my computer and want to establish internet connection over ADSL. For this i have to use pptp.
The annoying thing is, that doing 'pptp 10.0.0.138' i get a connection only every second time.
Perhaps it is a problem, that i cannot stop pptp but killing it, and therefore pppd has to clean up?
i am using pppd 2.4.3 and pptp 1.5.0
Thanks in advance

ppp interfaces for both loc and net
Hi,
I''m in a process of setting up a firewall system, which is going to be
also an ipsec/l2tp and pptp vpn server for some mobile clients.
The problem is, that the system has two ISPs a cable one (no problems
here) and a DSL provider. Because of the DSL provider the system is going
to have one pppN interface for DSL (net zone) and many pppX interfaces for
l2tp/pptp (loc zone)

ifb and ppp
Hello!
My goal is to setup an ingress traffic shaping on my PPPOE DSL line with ifb.
My old imq stuff used iptables marks (like ''iptables -t mangle -A
PREROUTING -p tcp --sport 22 -m length --length :500 -j MARK --set-mark 31'')
to classify the traffic and since i am lazy, i tried to to reuse them with
ifb. But no luck: iptables marks the packets well, but tc

nmbd over ppp
hello everyone.
I don't have a network, but I'm trying to get my friend to
dialin and use my shares that I have provided via smb. Now I have a big
prob with nmbd and ppp. Under Interfaces I can specify ppp* 192.168.0.2
, which is the ip that the dialin user is assigned and yet still nmbd
shuts down showing an error that no interfaces were found.

Trying to restart IPv6 over PPP
My IPv6 connection over my PPPoE link is down. IPv4 is up.
I have tried: /etc/ppp/ipv6-up ppp0
and get the error:
./network-functions: line 78: ifcfg-: No such file or directory
The gateway has been up and running for > 150 days. I have not been
testing anything IPv6 out of my net for a while, so don''t know when IPv6
connectivity went south. I don''t want to restart

Bluetooth, palm, ppp and shorewall
Hi Folks!
I''m new to shorewall (in the process of switching from Bastille), and I
have a question as to how to address using Bluetooth enabled Palms with
a BT dongle on a linux box protected by shorewall.
Basically I followed the directions located at
http://www.metacon.ca/bcs/view.php?page=bluetooth
to get things working strictly with iptables, specifically:

Need basic PPPoE startup help
I need basic PPPoE startup help.
adsl-start DID bring up my PPPoE link (ppp0) to my ISP over eth0 via the
DSL modem/bridge. My IPv4 CIDR block is routing and Shorewall is doing
the firewalling.
But shorewall has to be started after ppp0 is up and working. For now
this means running shorewall restart (or start?). Shorewall 4.2 will
have a way to restart shorewall without recompiling, I

routing based on user id
Hi all!
I''ve got 2 (soon 3) internet connection. 1 - via ADSL, 2(and3) via ppp
My network:
http://desima.objectis.net/network-diag
linux1:
user1.user2
eth0=192.168.1.1
ppp0=192.168.5.2( gw 192.168.5.1)
gw=192.168.1.2 ( thru ADSL)
compA=192.168.1.6
compB=192.168.1.15
gw2=192.168.1.217 via ppp to different ISP
All works for compA and CompB,
user1 should use default gw(192.168.1.2)
