Again on Apache 2
Hello everybody.
I know, I know, another post about Apache 2, but I have looked a lot on
the internet and I haven''t found the answer to my problem.
I have a Linux Fedora Core 5 box, with Apache 2.2.2 (compiled and
installed), Ruby 1.8.4 (compiled and installed), RubyGems 0.8.11
(compiled and installed) and Rails... I don''t know what version as this

Installing Postfix/Dovecot
I have just installed CentOS 5.1 on my home server and I am trying to
set a mail server.
I have diligently followed the instructions on the Wiki - How To on the
CentOS website (http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/postfix). However I cannot
send internal email (I haven't yet tried externally).
Do you have any suggestions on what to check? To test it I used two

Unloking gnome keyring on login
I hope someone can help me because I have spent a week on this and still I can't make it to work.
I have a CentOS 5.5 server and I am trying to set it up so that upon login the gnome default keyring is unlocked. I don't have a desktop as users will login using ssh only.
I have search the forum and google it, and I did find some help. All the articles though said to change /etc/pam.d/gdm

creating series of vectors
Dear All,
I am pretty new to R and thus my question may sound silly.
Is there a way to automatically generate a series of separate vectors
(so not arranged in a matrix), without typing and changing every time
the values, and store them as separate *xlsx file, where the "*" is
replaced by the name of the vector itself?
What i would like to create is a total of 12 vectors,

A-law and mu-law
Hi Martijn,
thank you for your answer. So the problem would be suboptimal
compression due to suboptimal assumption about the input signal, right?
What I do not understand is how the format of a FLAC format would be
affected by supporting A-law and mu-law files as input (and thus
output). Despite of suboptimal performance, is it possible to treat 8bit
*-law samples as 8bit linear PCM files and

A-law and mu-law
Hi to all!
I have a database of audio files that I want to losslessly compress.
Unfortunately I have several 8bit A-law and mu-law files in the database
and I see from here
http://flac.sourceforge.net/documentation_tools_flac.html
that they are not supported by the reference flac encoder/decoder.
Is there a reason for this?
Would it be possible to add support for these files in the reference

Sample size calculation for differences between two very small proportions (Fisher's exact test or others)?
Hi,
I'm try to compute the minimum sample size needed to have at least an 80% of power, with alpha=0.05. The problem is that empirical proportions are really small: 0.00154 in one case and 0.00234. These are the estimated failure proportion of two medical treatments.
Thomas and Conlon (1992) suggested Fisher's exact test and proposed a computational method, which according to their table

This is the list of problems I had with samba-2.0.6 so far. Can anyone
tell me if he can reproduce them and if he considers them as problems?
2.0.6 on linux 2.2.13 or 2.0.33
1)
sighup/log reopening doesn't always work: connections that are already
active keep logging to the old logs; logrotate rotates/zip the logs and
samba stops logging completely till restart.
2)
