[Bridge] bridge-utils + Linksys WET11
So, I'm setting up my first bridge, and I'm running into an interesting
issue.
I have a 4 port NIC (formerly 4 seperate /29 and /28 LANs) and an
onboard NIC (to my ISP).
I've setup the bridge using the script included at the bottom of this
email (modified from Gentoo for Aurora).
When the WET11 (the WET11 is a simple ethernet to wireless bridge) is
unplugged, the bridge works

[Bridge] Setting the interfaces in promiscuous mode
Hello,
I have been using the bridging facilities provided by Linux (vanilla
2.6.7 SMP with UML skas host patch applied) to bridge a regular
physical ethernet network (on interface eth0) with a virtual network
(on interface tap0, cf uml_switch,
http://user-mode-linux.sourceforge.net/networking.html). A couple of
virtual machines (run using user-mode linux, a tool that enables you

Scripting Oddity
I've been playing around with qemu and wanted to make the guest OS
instance visible on my network. This meant getting bridging and tun/tap
working. After getting things working by pasting command from the
CentOS wiki article plus adding a few enhancements, I decided to capture
the process in a shell script that would be suitable for a user in the
sudoers file to fire off. Not sure why

[Bridge] Strange DHCP behaviour with bridging
Here is the scenario: I have one server with kernel 2.4.24 with a bridge br0
made of 2 interfaces, eth0 and tap0 (the last is an OpenVPN tunnel), and one
remote computer connetting through tap0. If I assign a static IP to the
remote computer, the bridge works perfecly (so I think the problem is not
OpenVPN-related). If I start a DHCPd on the server and I configure the remote
client to get the

[Bridge] Bridge not working...
I've got a 2.6.8 kernel with bridging enabled as a module, two nics
(LNE100TX and RTL8139) and i've run the following commands with no errors
modprobe -v bridge
brctl addbr br0
brctl addif br0 eth0
brctl addif br0 eth1
both interfaces have 0.0.0.0 as their addresses and brctl showmacs br0
shows the macs for both internal cards. However, bridging doesn't seem
to be working at all.

[Bridge] Linux bridging code bounces back frames?
Hi,
I'm trying to build a bridge using a 486DX2/66 with two 10 Mbit Ethernet
NICs. The machine (tsushima) is running Debian stable and kernel 2.4.26.
Previously I used it as a router, so I know the hardware (NICs) is
working.
The NICs are as follows:
eth0: WD80x3 at 0x280, 00 00 C0 0A 2C 2F WD8003-old, IRQ 10, shared
memory at 0xd0000-0xd1fff.

Problem with network connection in domU
Hi list
When I create a domU the network isn''t reachable when it''s loaded. Only if I
do a xm console domUname and do some sort of network activity like pinging
an outside host or traceroute. First then there''s network connection from
the outside to services like webserver etc.
What can cause this?
I''m using Xen 2.0.5 stable domU from binary dist and

[Bridge] Bridging between user processes
Hi,
What is the easiest way to bridge between two
user-space processes that talk directly to Ethernet
interfaces?
I have two applications that write/read Ethernet
frames to/from Linux Ethernet ports (e.g. eth0). The
applications can successfully talk to each other when
they run on two machines connected over Ethernet. I
would like to be able to test them on a single machine
without employing

from vmdk to kvm
Hi, I will try to explain my case, I hope this is rigth place to do it.
My goal is migrate an Ubuntu 9.10 64bit VMWare VM from a Win2k8 64bit
server to an Ubuntu 9.10 64bit server.
Following some tutorials I've got a .qcow2 file from .vmdk and a .xml
file from .vmx file
Running virsh define/start all was fine, but VM is unaccessible: no
ping, no ssh, also from hosting server.

Serious performance issues
Hi. I have a Shuttle box with an AMD Athlon XP 2200+ and 1GB of RAM.
I''m normally running it with Debian sarge/sid and kernel 2.6.10-1-k7,
as built by Debian. I want to use Xen on it. I built a xen0 kernel
which is as close to the Debian kernel as I can (no power management,
no HPET timers, broken ISA drivers disabled), disabled /lib/tls, and
booted with the new kernel.
Everything works.

SSH ping etc not working between dom0 and domU''s
Hi!
I have a problem with my new Xen setup. I have installed Debian etch
with netinstall and I''m using 2.6.18-6-xen-amd64 kernel in my dom0 and
3.0.3-0-4 version xen hypervisor. I''m using four network cards on my
system and using three of them as xen bridges and dom0 is using the
fourth one only for it''s own. So basicly both of my virtual servers use
a network card

[Bridge] Neighbour table overflow

I had successfully setup my bridge (br0) but after few minutes the br0
interface seems not working.

[Bridge] Trouble with ARP traffic
Raffaele
If you don't want to see much arp traffic on eth1, assuming that you
have a subnet 10.190.190.0/24, with 10.190.190.1 on eth1 and the rest
of the hosts on eth0, you can use for example, the following filter
ebtables -N f1
ebtables -P f1 DROP
ebtables -t filter -A FORWARD -i eth0 -o eth1 -p ARP -j f1
ebtables -t filter -A f1 -p ARP --arp-ip-src 10.190.190.0/24

MAC addresses from both networks. I am also able to ping both networks
from the bridge machine. When I issue a "showstp" command to brctl, the

[Bridge] Getting dynamic ip address for a bridge
Hello,
I how an embedded processor that needs to act as a bridge between a wireless
and wired network. I have managed to bring up the bridge fine. I can also
bring up the bridge with a static ip address. However I can not figure out
how to bring up the bridge with a dynamic ip address.
Is it possible to for a bridge to get a dynamically assigned ip address?
