dwm
I downloaded dwm and installed - all is fine.
The manual says
Once installed, add to your $HOME/.xinitrc
exec dwm
and it should start when you run startx.
I did that - if I run startx this works...
however - if I am running X from /etc/inittab
how do I start up dwm ?
Thanks,
Jerry

mongrel cluster w/ apache
hi all,
i''m working on deploying my app w/ apache and a mongrel cluster. i''ve
started by copying the instructions and code from the agile rails book
and everything seems to be working fine but apache isn''t forwarding my
requests to mongrel the way i expect it should. there''s nothing in the
rewrite logs and nothing but 404 errors in the apache error logs.

What actually does cause 'windows slowly moving down + right
Hi, did the search and didn't find an answer.
For months now most of my windows apps, running on a minima xmonad system move slowly down down down and always to the right side.
I thought, maybe some .dlls needed. I thought, maybe it's that I don't use a full desktop environment and prefer a windows manager instead (xmonad)
love to know what causes this.
So, basically almost anything

Rails 1.0 - Agile book still good?
I''m new to Ruby and RoR but excited to learn what I can do with RoR; I
have Pickaxe second edition and want to get "Agile Web Development with
Rails" but I''m aware that the book was published some while before RoR
version 1.0 was released. Has a lot changed since then, and would I
therefore be advised to wait for a second edition of AWDwR?
Many thanks in advance

Neat way of using R for pivoting?
Hi,
I'd like to use R to do what excel pivot tables do, and plot results.
I've never used R before, and I've managed to do something, but it's quite a
lot of code to do something simple. I can't help but think I'm not "Doing it
the R way".
I could be using R for the wrong thing, in which case, please tell me off.
I was hoping something like plot(by(t,

Bug in 0.99.14 mbox handling - mail UIDs are renumbered without bumping UIDVALIDITY
Package: dovecot-imapd
Version: 0.99.14-1
Severity: important
Hi,
I think I've identified a bug in Dovecot 0.99.14 as packaged and
distributed by Debian Sarge. I believe the bug lies in the original
Dovecot source, not with any modifications made by Debian.
Specifically, this bug deals with Dovecot's handling of message unique
identifiers (UIDs) for IMAP clients when using the mbox

[RFC][FFT][Fixed-Point][NEON] NEON-Optimize Fixed-Point FFT?
Hi,
I am working on DSP module of Ne10. I see there are fixed-point and floating-point FFT inside Opus. Is fixed-point FFT only a fall back for CPU without VFP? On ARMv7-A and ARMv8-A, benchmark result shows that fixed-point (int32) and floating-point (float32) FFT have similar performance. I guess fixed-point version is not often used on these platforms. Is it worth the effort to NEON-optimize

[RFC][FFT][Fixed-Point][NEON] NEON-Optimize
Hi Jean-Marc,
I have implemented fixed-point FFT with 32-bit twiddles. Now I want to
evaluate the accuracy, what method does Opus use?
I use function implemented inside Ne10 to calculate SNR. Any comment?

| 16 | 82.558587 |
| 32 | 83.530298 |
| 60 | 80.292433 |

Nux VLC gives CLI only on CentOS-6.x
I thought this was just because of various unwise repo mixing that I'd done
on my main home server-cum-workstation, but I've been able to duplicate it
on a fresh VirtualBox installation.
I install the nux repo vlc-core and vlc-extras. I then try to start it
from a command line. I get

X11 device windows are spawned with empty WM_NAME property
Hello,
I've noticed that X11 device windows (the ones that pop up when I plot
something on Linux) aren't assigned any WM_NAME property until after they've
been spawned. This causes problems for users of tiling window managers, who
may wish to use the WM_NAME property to decide whether to float or tile the
window.
If I create a plot and then examine the window properties with xprop,

Compatibility namespaces containing a leading ~ appear to be broken in 1.1.x
Greetings,
I'm building a new 1.1.x-series Dovecot installation, and I have a
problem setting up compatibility namespaces intended to handle old
client-side settings.
(See also:
http://wiki.dovecot.org/Namespaces#head-0f3ab5ecab632eb517866c3508021e0605d54d4d)
I have produced a slightly cut-down example configuration which
demonstrates the problem:
# dovecot -n

problem validating uniqueness
I have validates_uniqueness_of :name in my model which works fine when
creating a record but doesn''t work when I edit the record. In other
words it won''t let me create a record with the same name but I can go
in after and update the field without a problem. Why would this
happen? -Mike
