Linux distributions supported by Xen as PVM domUs
Hi:
Reading Red Hat''s Website and a printed manual of RH184 (Red Hat
Virtualization course) I see that RHEL 5 only supports RHEL 4.5 and
RHEL 5 as paravirtualized guests. So I asume this is the same
situation for CentOS 5, right?
What''s the dependency between Xen versions for paravirtualized guests?
I ask this questions because I got this experiences:

Browing in Samba4 AD domain
Hello guys, Rowland :)
I recently had the opportunity to configure a Samba 3.x server which
acts as a WIN server. For testing purposes only, I've configured a
group of 4 Windows machines to use my Samba 3.x host as WINS server
but unfortunately those 4 hosts were not able to see each other in the
windows browsing list. I might guess WINS is only providing NetBIOS
name resolution but no

Thanks for replying. I wasn't sure about what the link tried to tell me but
you just have confirmed it :)
So, if I understood correctly, do I have to setup a WINS server in another
member machine (let's say another Samba host) and point all my windows
computers to such Samba as WINS server?

I actually have nmbd running on my Samba 3.x domain member server.
Does nmbd need an special setup for maintaining the network browsing
list for windows machines?

domUloader Vs pygrub
Hi
I have been using pygrub for most of the needs. Was
trying out some stuff on SLES 10 SP1. It seems that it
does not have pygrub!!
On the other hand, they have domUloader.py which
requires bootargs="--entry=hda:/boot/vmlinuz...., path
to ramdisk.
It is quite strange to be asking for the path of
the kernel and the ramdisk to be supplied in the conf
file!!.

unable to start more than two PVM hosts on one host
Hi,
I am using xen 3.1.0 on opensuse 10.3, for more details see below.
When I try to start the third domU, then this will not work, I get the
error: Error: Boot loader didn''t return any data!
When I shutdown an other one, I can successfully start the machine that
failed, see my log below. The xen configuration files are all similar to
this one:

domUloader kernel command line arguments?
domUloader potentially makes my life a lot easier, but from experiments
and looking at the code, it doesn''t seem like there is any way to pass
kernel command line arguments with it. Am I just missing something?
Thanks,
John Byrne

Installing openSuSE 10.3 as PV-guest on a LVM-drive of a openSuSE 10.3 host
Hi,
how can I install a openSuSE 10.3 PV-guest on a LVM-drive of a openSuSE
10.3 host with Xen 3.10?
On 10.2 with Xen 3.0.3 the openSuSE-YaST-module for managing VMs could
install the system also on block-devices, unfortunately this is not
possible anymore with OSS 10.3 :-(
What I have tried:
- I created two LVM-partitions, one for "/" one for swap.
- Installing an OSS 10.2 PV-guest

New DomU on older Dom0
Hi,
I have a Xen server running OpenSuSE 10.2, with Xen version 3.0.3_11774.
It''s happily hosting two DomU''s running the same OS / kernel.
Now I tried to create a new DomU running a newer OS - OpenSuSE 11.1. It
comes with Xen version 3.3.1_18494_03.
Unfortunately for me, it doesn''t work - this is what I get:

As far as Samba is concerned it uses both, DNS & NetBIOS, but instead of
using WINS, it uses DNS to find the machines and then 'nmbd' produces
the browsing list (this is

modelling domU bootloaders
I don''t think that modelling domUloader (or pygrub, for that matter) is
going to be optional for VSM 1. Do the CIM providers have any plans for
this?
Thanks.

Samba 4 permissions error
Hello guys.
I have a Zentyal 4.2 server which runs Samba 4.3.5 and ACLs for every
share. It's currently working fine, no isssues, everyone can access
their folders without problems.
I've built a Samba 4.3.5 server in a different host which is not a
Zentyal server. I've configured this 2nd server as DC. Once a day I
run a script to synchronize all shares from my Zentyal to this Samba

I have one node(testing purpose) ganeti 2.0.1 cluster installed over
Debian5 Lenny. Almost everything from distro repositories. Only ganeti

Error: Had a bootloader specified, but no disks are bootable
Hi,
I copied my root filesystem from one box to a harddisk partition /dev/sda8.
I started fdisk /dev/sda and added a bootable flag to partition 8.
Then I mounted /dev/sda8, chrooted into it, and ran a grub-install hd0.
Then I unmounted it, and tried to start the PVM host, but it ends short

Convert Trixbox HVM to PVM
Hi list,
I recently installed the Trixbox distribution as an HVM and have now
converted it to a PVM. Found very few resources on Internet where
people had done this conversion so I had very little to compare with.
Wanted to ask for comments about the kernel used in the PVM after the
conversion.
Installing Trixbox and later installing the xenified kernel, gives a
kernel of 2.6.18-92.....
