Hi list.
Im Running xen on a brand new dell PE 1950 with 146 GB SAS Disk on raid1.
The performance on the I/O on the domU is really poor, but in dom0 the

Centos Virtual Machine 32 bit with 8 GB ram ?
Hello,
I have a centos 5.2 core 2 duo 3.0 GHZ with 2 GB ram which is working as a Virtual machine.
i've just upgraded the hosting physical server from 32 GB to 64 GB of ram. which in turn, would require me to upgrade the VM to 8 GB.
this is a 32 bit centos installation, would the system recognize and use the 8 GB?
the option of using a 64 bit centos isnt possible.
So i'm turning to you

How to check server kernel support 32 Gb RAM (X86, CENTOS 4.7)??
we have CENTOS 4.7 (X86) on DELL server, I already put 32 GB RAM on it. I can use "top" or "free" to check memory and it did show 32 GB.
I check REDHAT site and found it say:
The "SMP" kernel supports a maximum of 16GB of main memory. Systems with more than 16GB of main memory use the "Hugemem" kernel.
I use "uname -r" to check kernel and it

Is this correct?

32 or 64 bit (4 gb ram)
Is there any real advantage to using 64 bit when I am right at the 4gb
ram threshhold? Nice plans to add more ram.
The machine will just be a backup machie (rsync).
Thanks in advance.

ClamAV "clamscan" command using huge amount of RAM
We have a perl cgi script that accepts uploaded files and runs
clamscan on them. While observing the system performance I noticed
that each clamscan process consumes up to 250MB of RAM. Is this
normal for ClamAV? This seems like an enormous amount of RAM, for
simply scanning one file for viruses.

if_bfe and > 1 GB of ram is now fixed
If anyone was using a bfe card and seeing interrupt storms when you
attempted to bring the card up, this is the fix for you. The driver
wasn't previously taking into account the fact that the chipset doesn't
like addresses over the 1GB mark.
If you'd like an even quicker fix, just add hw.mem = "1000M" to your
loader.conf and reboot. :)

lm Regression takes 24+ GB RAM - Error message
Hello,
I am a rather unexperienced r-user (learned the language 1 month ago) and

1. Via the read.table command I load a data table (with different data
types) which is about 730 MB large

passwd : Module is unknown (Redhat 9 Enterprise Edition)
Hi All,
Can anyone help me in resolving this problem.
I use Redhat 9 Enterprise edition. I have a session in which I logged in
as a root. When I issue the command "su" from any other user it is
throwing error "su : Incorrect password", If I try to change the
password from the root session, it is throwing error "passwd : module
unknown".

Ruby Enterprise Edition
I find myself needing a newer Ruby than is in the distro. I'm going
to need to install this on a large number of machines, so packaging it
would be ideal.
REE seems the obvious candidate - unless other folk can recommend an
alternative.
I found the following spec:

In my build environment I get:

Using Puppet to deploy Ruby Enterprise Edition
Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone had any experience getting puppet to
install Ruby Enterprise Edition (http://
www.rubyenterpriseedition.com/) via puppet? It''s installed via a
script which is included in the tar package it comes in. The installer
is quite straight forward, just a call to "./ruby-
enterprise-1.8.6-20090113/installer --auto /opt/ruby". Figuring out

Are the Dovecot Enterprise Edition Ubuntu 14.04 packages stable?
I recently begun to migrate mail services to a new box so I could
retrofit an existing box. I took this opportunity to check back on the
official Dovecot Enterprise Edition (EE) pages to see if support has
been added for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
I never could find the information on the dovecot.fi website, but taking
my existing credentials for Dovecot EE repo access and looking at the
root path I see

Have the Dovecot Enterprise Edition packages been discontinued?
Hi,
I've been using the Dovecot EE packages for Ubuntu for some time now and
just recently started getting 404 errors. Have those packages been
discontinued or is this just a temporary issue?
Thanks.

Samba pdc, Norton Ghost enterprise edition and joining the domain?
Hi List.
We have a Samba 3.0pre21 PDC set up here on our prim. fileserver. We use
Windows 2000 SP2 on our PC clients. We install clients with system images
from disk and than install applications from one central machine running
Norton Ghost EE.
Ghost has the functionality not only to install the software from the
"console" on the ghost server, but it is also able to make the

i386 hypervisor seeing only ~16G RAM, amd64 required?
Hi,
I have several machines using xen-hypervisor-3.2-1-i386 from
etch-backports and they recently got upgraded to 20 or 24G RAM. I
have seen talk of a limit of a 16G RAM with 32bit PAE Xen and indeed
this is what I am seeing.
I am guessing there is still no way to get the 32bit hypervisor to
see more than 16G RAM, and I must go to 64bit.
Can I boot a 64bit hypervisor and still keep the same
