timekeeping on VMware guests
Howdy, I am having time-drift issues on my CentOS VM. I had referred to following documentation: http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/VMWare_Server , however it didn't help. I used kickstart for creating this VM and I am listing important steps in ref to timekeeping issue. Any comments or suggestion would be appreciated. - CS. ------------------- # For EL5 virtual machines, Append the

Fwd: Re: Dotlock dovecot-uidlist errors / NFS / High Load
Stan, Thanks for the reply. In our case we have actually already done most of the work you suggested to no avail. We had rebuilt two new ntp servers that sync against two stratum 1 sources, and all our nfs clients, regardless of using dovecot, sync to those two machines. You bring up the difference between bare metal and hypervisor, and we are running these machines on vmware 4.0. All the

AstriCon offers a most sincere and humble apology for the barage of mail...
Dear Asterisk Community, I would like to offer my most humble apology for the enormous stream of mail messages currently battering at your mailboxes. I was honestly trying to help a worthy cause. Please blame me and only me. Neither Russell nor Josh are at all to blame for this. Nor, for that matter, is Olle. I am the guilty party. Please direct all anger/outrage/hatred/etc. towards

kernel-vm.i686 5.0-->5.1 "Error: Missing Dependency: kernel-headers is needed by package glibc-headers"
Cough, cough, cough (I have a bit of a cold, please excuse me) Thanks for the great CentOS. I assume the following means I need to humbly ask for the kernel-vm for 5.1, but I am not certain. If so, I hereby humbly ask. --> Running transaction check --> Processing Dependency: kernel-headers for package: glibc-headers --> Processing Dependency: kernel-headers >= 2.2.1 for package:

194 Kernel Panic; 164 is Fine; How Do I Debug?
I have a machine that has worked fine for years on CentOS5. kernel-PAE-2.6.18-164.15.1.el5 is the last "works fine" kernel, but kernel-PAE-2.6.18-194.3.1.el5 crashes at boot every time. I tried banging on the side of the monitor to no avail. All kidding aside, here are pictures of my monitor when booting 194 in case that is helpful.

VMWare - 5.2 Update - Kernel Best Practices
Thanks for all the great stuff. Executive Summary: Kernel Parameters or Special Kernel for 5.2 on VMWare? More Details: Is it the best practice to use the specially compiled kernels (when available, typically here: http://people.centos.org/~tru/kernel-vm/5/RPMS/i386/ ) or are kernel parameters now able to achieve the same thing? btrfs df confusion
Hi I''ve made some updates on the wiki and I''d like a technical review for correctness. This particular topic is already confusing - some unnecessary sarcasm made it even more so: https://btrfs.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/FAQ#Why_does_df_show_incorrect_free_space_for_my_RAID_volume.3F Due to the terms "used" and "allocated" in the wiki, viric in #btrfs made

tick divider bugs
Hi all, If you are using the kernel divider= option in your vmware quest, you are probably aware of the bugs reported at: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=315471 Someone @redhat "confirmed" the fix is in the test kernel -92. I tried it but it seems to have the same problem as before - when used with clocksource=pit, it hangs on bootup. Wonder if some of you can test this

re-encode tool win32
Sure.. just copy and paste it into flac-reencode.sh, replace the "8" with a @1 var and you are all set. No need for "--reencode" as it is redundant. Ping me if you want a hand with that (sarcasm). Asterisk, GalaxyVoice and Humble Pie
Hi all, Firstly I need to apologise for some comments I made regarding GalaxyVoice and their service/abilities. Having opened another dialog with them they were more than willing to help out and tollerate abuse of their system whilst testing. Secondly I'd like to thank my anonymous friend without whom I would have never been able to get this going. Thirdly, I GOT IT TO WORK!! Below is the
