Trash and quota
I can't seem to find the magic combination to get dovecot to ignore the
trash folder when counting quota. I've got 1.0rc15 and using maildir
quotas. Not being able to trash messages when over quota is quite
annoying.
the docs suggest the following:
plugin {
quota = maildir:storage=10240:ignore=Trash
}
but as my quotas are defined per user via mysql DB, I'm thinking that I
need a

Invalid password encoding
ok so now I've got Dovecot 1.0rc15 started on the test server. however
it seems that the auth-workers don't like their job:
auth-worker(default): plain_md5_verify((null)): Invalid password encoding
What do I need to do to make their life easier?
Current dovecot.conf:
protocols = imap imaps pop3 pop3s
disable_plaintext_auth = no

Auth process died too early
Hello all,
Trying an Install of Dovecot 1.0rc15. We have previously used 1.0b8
without too many troubles.
starting Dovecot 1.0rc15 yields:

will the query I specified really work. In your present database, add
the quota field and insert a KB value. This value will then be used when
the authentication query is executed. In the example SQL query I posted,
I used a tabled called quota_kb.
One way to test the whole setup is to enable all the debug and verbose

Digest settings
Timo,
Wonder if you can tweak the digests to hold more messages? In 5 hours
this morning, I've received 6 digests, seems a little excessive to me.

Conflict -> Dovecot + Maildrop (maildirsize)
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I'm having some problems with quota from sql (maildir++) and dovecot +
maildrop.
I'm using maildrop for MDA and dovecot as IMAP server.
When an e-mail arrives, maildrop calculates the quota and updates the
'maildirsize' file. When i use dovecot (webmail, thunderbird) it updates
the 'maildirsize' too, overwriting it, but in a

Any plans for storing messages on a database?
Redudancy and recovering from a mailstore failure is one of the concerns I
am trying to address where I work.
Any plans to have Dovecot store emails in a database?
NAS/SAN devices which do automatic replication to a second device are
extremely expensive.
I also don't see any distributed filesystem which is mature and available
for the OS we use (FreeBSD).
I recall at one point, many

Problems with Mailstorage path.
Hi all,
my environment:
dovecot-1.0.rc15
Fedora Directory Server 1.0.2
Currently I've configured dovecote to find user's mail folder like this:
dovecot.conf
mail_location = maildir:/var/vmail/%d/%u/Maildir
All my domain mailboxes are under /var/vmail, as evident. But there
are some users whose mail folders are directly under /var/vmail like
this one:
/var/vmail/myuser1 at mydomain1.com

FS quota problem on Solaris10
Hi,
it seems, that I have a quota problem:
kric0999 at servername:~ $ quota -v
Disk quotas for kric0999 (uid 1234):
Filesystem usage quota limit timeleft files quota limit timeleft
/home 1188850 0 1500000 0 0 0
You see: I have a quota: 1,2GB from 1,5GB
The sent-mail, trash, drafts mboxes are in /home/kric0999/mail/
Why does Thunderbird say:

logging pop3 fetch time
Hello,
Is it possible with dovcot (rc7) to log how long it takes to complete
downloading mail? If so, what do I have to set in the conf file?
Thank you!

Dovecot Stable Version
Dovecot is now in release candidate. When will release stable? Is it
safe to use in production? I mean now the Dovecot is stable enough to

maildir++ quota bug...
Running RC2 with maildrop and MDA:
dovecot writes a positive quota count, then the negative quota count
on messages delivered with maildrop.
For example,
message #1 arrives via maildrop:
4488236 1
message is deleted via dovecot:
4488236 1
-4488236 -1
This does not happen when the user accesses the message, only when it
is deleted.
The user never gets credit for deleting

Namespace Problems
Hi all,
after an update from dovecot beta version to 1.0.0.-1 today morning I
had different effects:
thunderbird-, kmail-, Apple-clients, pine and squirrelmail could
receive email correct with imaps. But not MSOutlook!!!
Varying the namespace configurations in dovecot.conf I got different
results with MSOutlook working but with thunderbird, squirrelmail etc.
all folders are displayed but not

environment variables required for startup
Using dovecot-1.0-rc19 (quotas are working good, btw) on Gentoo, I have
a strange problem. On boot, dovecot doesn't start, the init script just
times out. From the command line, it starts instantly without problem.
Also, using a program called 'monit' to make sure processes stay
running and restart them if they stop, if I manually stop dovecot, it
is then unable to start it (calling

unknown namespace with Mac OS client
I see in this thread,
http://dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2006-April/012918.html, that others had
simmilar problems with Mac OS client.
Anyone got a working Dovecot + Mac OS setup?
In particular with RC15.
Our setup

prefix = INBOX.
inbox = yes
}
Would it help to use
