Time just moved backwards error even with ntpd
Scenario: server PC abruptly switched off due to power cable problems (an UPS cannot solve this issue), so during shutdown Linux was not able to resinchronize the system clock. After a few hours the server come back on, Linux booted and the services (ntpd, dovecot and many others) started But the system clock was 45 minutes ahead, so: Jan 19 11:13:39 gw ntpd[2112]: synchronized to LOCAL(0),

How to shade area between lines in ggplot2
Hi Put fill outside aes p+geom_ribbon(aes(ymin = slope_1*x + intercept_1 - 1/w[2], ymax = slope_1*x + intercept_1 + 1/w[2]), fill = "blue", alpha=0.1) The "hole" is because you have two levels of data (red and blue). To get rid of this you should put new data in ribbon call. Something like newdat <- trainset newdat$z <- factor(0) p+geom_ribbon(data=newdat, aes(ymin =

substr gives empty output
In y <- substr(x, i, 1) your third integer needs to be the location not the number of digits, so change it to y <- substr(x, i, i) and you should get what you want. The simplest bar graph with ggplot is difficult to realize
Dear all, What is the simplest way of producing a bar graph using ggplot but avoiding calling qplot? That is, given: d <- data.frame(x=seq(1,5), y=seq(1,5)) Why does the following line return an error? ggplot(d, aes(x=x, y=y)) + stat_identity() + geom_bar(bindwidth=1) Thanks in advance, jcb!

How to shade area between lines in ggplot2
Thank you, but this split the area into two and distorts the shape of the plot. (compared to ``` p + geom_abline(slope = slope_1, intercept = intercept_1 - 1/w[2], linetype = "dashed", col = "royalblue") + geom_abline(slope = slope_1, intercept = intercept_1 + 1/w[2], linetype = "dashed", col = "royalblue") ``` Why there

A masked function is a masked function by any other name
Dear all, It looks like I do not grasp the concept of masked functions enough as to solve this trivial problem. The code that replicates the problem (a source code tree that realizes a R package actually) is under github so one can call it clone it easily from the command line (though more experienced users will spot the problem by browsing through the package code): git clone http://jcborras at

transform() on selective names. Is it possible?

fast way to find most common value across columns dataframe
Thank you. The problem was not finding the mode but applying it the R way (I have the tendency to loop into each line of the dataframes, which I believe is NOT the R way). I'll try them.
