Mandriva Spring 2007 and R
I am new to Linux (not to R) and recently installed Mandriva Spring 2007 on my partitioned hard drive. My next objective is to install R in the Linux environment, unfortunately Mandriva is not one of the Linux distributions available for download... Could someone please let me know which distribution I should use? Thanks. Jonathan --------------------------------- Boardwalk for $500?

Wine RPM and Mandriva 2007
Dear All I have had only partial success with Wine and now I am approaching it afresh with Mandriva 2007-0. I have ensured their is no version already installed from the distribution and I have downloaded wine-0.9.46-mdv2007.0.i586.rpm. I do not know what to do after this. The user guide is not clear enough for an inexperienced user. In fact the only thing it says is: "2.2 Installing

I recently set up a dual boot system (XP_64, Mandriva) to run R on a Linux platform in order to more efficiently handle large datasets. I have not done compiling before, but read the R instructions and followed to my best ability. I downloaded the most recent

problem booting files with .bin in their name (eg. memtest86+.bin)
It took me forever to figure out why I couldn't tftp boot into memtest86+, I had the file "memtest86+.bin" installed into my tftproot, and it was being loaded when I selected that menu item, but it would result in a series of repeating numbers on the left hand side of the screen. Eventually, after trying a million different things, and then asking someone I know who has fought

Swat update :)
IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!! But before I say what I did... yall have to promise not to laugh! (MAH!! I HEAR YOU!!) ... anyone ever heard of.... /etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd restart I can tell you from experience that 'killall -HUP xinetd' is NOT the same. I can also say that nobody will find that command line entry in "Using Samba". To show my appreciation to the groups involved,

Netbios over more then one protocol
Hi, i'm reading: samba-3.0.20a/docs/htmldocs/Samba3-HOWTO/NetworkBrowsing.html#id2564441 ... The election process is /fought out, so to speak/ over every NetBIOS network interface. In the case of a Windows 9x/Me machine that has both TCP/IP and IPX installed and has NetBIOS enabled over both protocols, the election will be decided over both protocols. As often happens, if the Windows 9x/Me

Hi all Has anyone tried running catia (R5V16) useing wine. I am unable to get the install of the program to start off in wine. I have tried 0.9.27, heard about an opengl issue and went to 0.9.29. Thinking it might be an issue with my lack of understanding of the operation of wine I installed AutoCAD14 and Homeworld2 to know if it was working correctly and had no problems. I fought with the

I want to make sure that there is no way to do this without actually having to assign a bunch of different drive letters to shares. I basically one one Drive letter assigned to the top of the directory. Underneath that directory there will be several others and
