Changing cursor while waiting for remote function response?
Hello,
Google and the search function didn''t help me this time. Is it possible
to change the mouse cursor while waiting for a response of a remote
function call?

Observing Ajax Requests?
Is it possible using scriptaculous/prototype to watch out for any
happening Ajax activity, and do something like show/hide a spinner gif
to indicate to the user that there is activity taking place in the
backgound?
Regards,
Michael

RE: Prototype: correct useage of onComplete withAjax.PeriodicalUpdater

after the update, in the case of PeriodicalUpdater, right after it has
been stopped.
It looks like you need to pass your callback method as an ''insertion''
method in the options. This takes two parameters, the first will

Ajax.Request: onLoading executed after onComplete in IE
Hi,
i''m trying to use a visual indicator for my Ajax requests. It''s based on the
shopping cart demo at script.aculo.us and works great in Firefox, Konqueror
and Opera, but fails in IE6. For some reason (timing problems?) onComplete is
executed before onLoading, so the indicator is shown but not hidden when the
request has finished.
Oddly enough it works fine in the shopping

RE: Prototype: correct useage of onCompletewithAjax.PeriodicalUpdater
The only call that PeriodicalUpdater will make periodically to you is
the insertion call.
I think of onComplete as being ''I''ve done everything I was going to do'',
which for Updater is right after it''s done a single update, but for
PeriodicalUpdater, it''s after it''s finished all of its updates, so
you''ll only get it once for any call

Multiple ajax calls
This is slightly OT for which I apologise in advance, but I was
wondering if anyone here has had any problems when making multiple
ajax calls at the same time. I''m working on a large Intranet
application which makes heavy use of ajax calls and the bugs are
flying in from the testers that if they repeatedly click on a link
that makes an ajax call then Internet Explorer can fall

counter caching with acts_as_commentable
I find that my app is doing a lot of db queries to get comment counts
for various objects, as I reference these counts frequenly in my views.
This is using acts_as_commentable. Anyone have any tips for adding
counter caching to acts_as_commentable? I assume this is possible with
polymorphic associations?
Thanks!

acts_as_commentable validations
Hi all,
I recently started back up with Rails and things are going well up until
now.
I''ve set up acts_as_commentable in my Post model and it''s working great.
Problem is users are able to create a "blank" comment. I''ve added the
following validations in the comment.rb file generated by
acts_as_commentable to limit the comment length:

Facebooker updates
I just went through and cleaned out most of the bugs and patches. I
also added a facebooker.js file that implements enough of prototype to
do $() and link_to_remote with :update and remote_form_for with :update
Let me know if you run into any issues with it.
