RECENT status always 0
Hello,
we are using dovecot 2.0.13 with maildir++ (we migrated away from
courrier just a few months ago) and the RECENT status doesn't seem to be
working:
. STATUS INBOX (MESSAGES UNSEEN RECENT)
* STATUS "INBOX" (MESSAGES 35106 RECENT 0 UNSEEN 10)
then 2 minutes later:
. STATUS INBOX (MESSAGES UNSEEN RECENT)
* STATUS "INBOX" (MESSAGES 35106 RECENT 0 UNSEEN 11)

Setting Recent Flag on New Messages?
So I?m looking at setting up some house-keeping for my dovecot mailboxes, specifically deleting messages in trash, spam etc., by deleting Seen messages older than X days.
In order to protect against the edge case of a user reading a message right before the deletion task however I?d like to do something like the following:
doveadm expunge -A OLD SEEN BEFORE 7d MAILBOX Trash
doveadm flags -A

Cannot STORE \Seen flag on some mails
Hi,
I'm running Dovecot 1.2.17 on FreeBSD (exact output of 'dovecot -n' is
atttached to this mail). The machine is serving a public mailinglist
archive which is read-only; all mail arriving for the archive is marked
as \Seen using Sieve script.
This setup works well most of the time, but I noticed that for *some*
mails, the \Seen flag doesn't seem to be stored. Right now I

2.1.rc1 (056934abd2ef): virtual plugin mailbox search pattern
Hello Timo,
With dovecot 2.1.rc1 (056934abd2ef) there seems to be something wrong
with virtual plugin mailbox search patterns.
I'm using a virtual mailbox 'unread' with the following dovecot-virtual file
$ cat dovecot-virtual
*
unseen
For testing propose I created the following folders with each containing
one unread message
INBOX, INBOX/level1 and INBOX/level1/level2

automatic flag updates
Is there a way to get dovecot to send automatic flag updates? I notice
that when I have two clients connected and one of them reads a new
message, the server sends a status update which contains the number of
unseen messages, but doesn't specifically say which ones have changed.
I think the solution to this problem, while not wasting bandwidth, is to
issue a unilateral FETCH FLAGS response

Strange output from LIST command
Hi,
i'm using Dovecot 2.1.7 (Debian Wheezy) and output from LIST command looks strange:

S: * LIST () "." "INBOX"
S: * LIST () "." "INBOX.Karantena"
S: * STATUS "INBOX.Karantena" (UNSEEN 0)

dovecot-virtual folder configuration
Hi all,
Long story short, I'd like to configure a folder containing:
INBOX
(some other folders)
-> unseen emails from these folders + all other emails (also seen) from
the same thread
-> seen emails from these folders, but only the recent ones + all other
emails from the same thread
I tried:
# inthread refs (or (or recent unseen) recent )
inthread refs unseen

UNSEEN flag issues with multiple clients
Hi all,
I've been bugged by this issue for a while, and while I see that the
\UNSEEN flag is specified in the RFC to be reset once *any* client
connects and looks at a mailbox, I was wondering if there's a way to
change the behavior so that it's tracked on a per-client basis?
Or if there's even some way to turn it off so that both my iPhone mail
client and my main emacs viewmail

Keeping \Seen flag private
Hi all,
I wanna to set up shared folders for a couple of users and I'd like that
everyone could keep the \Seen flag as private. So if user #1 reads some
messages and user #2 not, those messages appear as "unseen" to #2 and "seen"
to #1.
I've implemented shared folders using namespaces with every user having their
own "control" and "private"

And what about the "dovecot-keywords" files in both folders? Do they

problem with COPY?
hi all,
I've been trying to use dovecot (from cvs 03.mar.2003, linux 2.2.20,
gcc 2.96, openssl 0.9.7a) as an replacement for uw-imap, and it seems
to be doing its job, except for one thing:
I have my mua (sylpheed-claws from cvs) set up so that it will sort
message into certain(imap) directories. so when I check the mail in the
INBOX, new mails will be processed automatically and, for

BUG: sieve does not set seen-Flag
I have an additional information.
Moving a already seen messsage to another imap-folder (drag&drop in
thunderbird) shows this email in the other folder as unseen and recent.
Is this normal behaviour?

LIST-STATUS issue
Looked at the hg commits since 2.1.1, but didn't see anything that was
exactly on-point to this...
UNSEEN counts seem to be broken when done in a LIST-STATUS call. I
see this, for example:
>> Timestamp: Thu, 01 Mar 2012 10:55:47 -0700
[...]
C: 3 LIST "" (INBOX IN.dovecot) RETURN (STATUS (UNSEEN))
S: * LIST () "." "IN.dovecot"
S: * STATUS
