Thread sorting problem
I've just installed Dovecot on a Debian Sarge machine and am seeing some
very strange thread sorting.
In Mozilla Mail and Thunderbird on both Fedora and Debian clients my
threads served up by Dovecot look like this (number denotes message time):
|-11
| `-12
|-2
|-3
|-4
| `-5
| `-6
| `-7
| `-8
|-1
`-9
`-10
Where the exact same threads served by Sendmail/imap look like this:

Error in IMAP command UID: Unknown thread algorithm.
Our Squirrelmail offers "Thread based sorting".
Now, I have one user, where the activation of thread sorting results in:
FEHLER: Falsche oder ung?ltige Anfrage.
Anfrage: THREAD ORDEREDSUBJECT ISO-8859-1 ALL
Server antwortete: Error in IMAP command UID: Unknown thread algorithm.
Why is that?

Occasional errors opening email folder in SquirrelMail
Every once in a while I get this [1] error when trying to open a mail
folder in SquirrelMail. I don't know enough about IMAP to tell if it is
a SquirrelMail or a Dovecot issue. I also get this [2] error message
every time I try to send an email. The email goes through but there is
no copy in the Sent folder. If there is some kind of logging I can
enable that would help with this please let

Squirrelmail + Dovecot + Maildir
I have been struggling with getting my Fedora 7 box set up to use
dovecot with Squirrelmail and Maildir. It works correctly with the exception of writing outgoing mail to the right folder (.Sent) or drafts (.Drafts). If I send a mail with Mutt, it writes the mail to the right place, so it has to be squirrelmail config or dovecot config. I want to use .Sent for sent-mail
(~user/Maildir/.Sent) and

enabling IMAP SORT and THREAD extensions
Hi all,
The home page of the Dovecot website indicates:
"Supports multiple commonly used IMAP extensions, including SORT, THREAD and
IDLE."
However, I cannot find instructions in the Wiki for how to enable these
extensions. Can someone tell me how to do this? I will add this info to the
Wiki myself if need be.
Thanks.

Slow squirrelmail login/IMAP CPU 80%
I've been having a problem with Dovecot on Fedora Core 2 with
SquirrelMail on the same system.
When ever I login through SquirrelMail the imap process consumes around
80% of my CPU and the login takes forever (about 10 minutes). 1
Once I do manage to login, everything is fine and can even log out and
back in without issue.
Has anyone encountered this?
Thanks,
Nelson

Which is better? Microsoft Exchange 2016 or Linux-based SMTP Servers?
Good evening from Singapore,
I am torn between deploying Microsoft Exchange 2016 and Linux-based
SMTP servers like sendmail, postfix, qmail and exim.
Relative ease of installation and configuration is an important
consideration factor.
Microsoft Exchange 2016, Domain Controller, and Active Directory are
relatively easy to install and configure. Linux-based SMTP servers are
extremely difficult

threaed ordered subject algorithm
We have custom plugins for squirrelmail which use thread
orderedsubject, but according to capabilities dovecot only support
thread by references algorithm.
At present, we are using Courier with this capabilities (two
algorithms are implemented).
Could we use orderedsubject in dovecot?

Help for UID THREAD and SORT optimization
Hello,
we are developing a library to show last arrived messages of all threads
in a folder with more than 300k messages.
As per the RFC 5256, the IMAP thread command has only the option to
specify the grouping criteria (REFERENCES vs ORDEREDSUBJECT). So we
implemented an algorithm which gets the full UID SORT ordered by date in
reverse order then gets all thread relations and then post

Which is better? Microsoft Exchange 2016 or Linux-based SMTP Servers?
Dear Promise Kumalo,
Thank you for the recommendations.
So for Exchange equivalents in the Linux world, it is Zimbra and Kolab.

sorting question
Hi,
If I understand the thread sorting algorithm correctly (from
draft-ietf-imapext-sort-17.txt and the code), it will sort like this
(where I use numbers instead of dates with higher numbers being newer
mails)
4
10
3
11
2
12
1
13
etc into all the lower levels. Thunderbird will actually sort this like
this:
1
13
2
12
3
11
4

Keep getting this error within Squirrelmail (and other clients) on one
particular user's mailbox file:

I've snipped the first and last message off of it, still no love.

Capability info in hello message not complete?
Hi,
one Fedora user complains about not some troubles after update to dovecot 1.2.
He suspects wrong capability information given by dovecot 1.2
In dovecot.conf he uses imap_capability= option. While response to 'A
CAPABILITY' respects imap_capability value, the capability info in hello
message does not.

SquirrelMail Sending Under Wrong Username
CentOS team... as is already bug reported and marked solved... as we
await the upstream repair for this.
It was reported that this was happening on CentOS 5. You likely already
know, but it also happens on CentOS 4.
For those unaware. It seems that SquirrelMail has an issue which allows
mail to be sent out from one user on the system and it uses the from
address of another user on the

Centos 8 install of squirrelmail
Hi,
I am trying to install Squirrelmail on Centos 8 but it seems that package
is missing in the EPEL repo for Centos 8? Anyone know if this was on
purpose or how to tell which packages won't be created?
Thanks,
Earl
