LDAP authentication stops working...
Hi all,
I'm running dovecot-1.0.rc17 on OpenBSD 3.9, using userdb and passdb
methods of "ldap" (SSL on 636/tcp) in addition to "passwd".
Occasionally (generally after a few hours of operation, but not always),
LDAP-based logins stop working (e.g. hang/timeout after POP3 PASS
command). Accounts with local passwords (as opposed to accounts with a
password field of

I'm using dovecot (rc17) in POP3/IMAP server _and_ proxy mode (pgsql
backend). Everything works fine but occasionally I get these messages
in the log:

NHW v0.3.0-rc17 new version
Hello,
Very sorry for disturbing/boring the forum that much, for those ultra
interested/motivated, I have released the NHW v0.3.0-rc17 new version.
As usual, I continue to fine-tune the nhw_kernel weights. This new version
has then more precision and a better visual quality (hope my eyes are not
too tired, as I am very tired currently...).

A few rc17 imap crashes
We upgraded from 1.0-beta7 to 1.0-rc17 on Tuesday evening and looking at
today's logs, just four imap processes out of 90,000+ died. I managed to
get core files (the server is running Solaris 8 on Sparc, and Dovecot
was compiled with gcc 3.3.2). I hope they're useful!
(I should also say that performance between the two versions is roughly
similar according to Solaris' process

dovecotpw/sql crypt scheme core dump with rc17-19
Platform is Solaris 8 on a 280R.
I'm setting up a new installation of Dovecot, and I ran into some troubles
that I've partly tracked down.
I setup auth/user dbs with LDAP initially, and things worked well.
Passwords are stored as "{crypt}zxcv..." in LDAP.
I setup SQL, and began getting this:

X-UID: 4085788205 != 2147483647
Hi,
Dovecot (at least versions 0.99.10.4, 0.99.11, 1.0rc15, rc17 and rc18)
allows message Unique Identifiers to be an unsigned 32 bit value, so
something like "X-UID: 4085788205" is allowed.
Some IMAP clients I've tested (Thunderbird 1.5.0.9, SquirrelMail
1.4.9a/PHP 4.3.2) appear to use signed 32 bit identifiers and request
the above message as UID 2147483647 (max signed 32 bit

Delete mails in dovecot POP3 has a bug/feature
When a mailbox has abt 40 mails with 4-5 mb attachments , it is quite
common for the pop3 connection to get timed out or disconnected esp. if
user has dialup modem.
In this case , dovecot seems to REALLY HIT the user hard. Because it
simply DOES NOT delete mails , even if user requested so. It only
deletes the mails if users succesfully logs out. No other pop3 server
has this problem so i would

Correct naming scheme for dovecot / squirrelmail subfolders?
Hello,
I am running dovecot 1.0-0_34.rc15 and squirrelmail 1.4.8-2 on a
Centos 4 server. Right now all messages are delivered to maildir
/var/mail/vhosts/virtual_mail_root/, which has its cur, tmp, new
subdirectories.
I need to (re) configure postfix, dovecot and squirrelmail so that
email is filtered and dovecot serves different boxes to squirrelmail,
that is when I log in in squirrelmail I

Query: LSUB "" "*" still on rc19
Hi all,
We've downgraded to rc17 for the past week or so, as when we upgraded to
rc19, this error did go, but came back again.
ERROR: Could not complete request.
Query: LSUB "" "*"
Reason Given: Internal error occurred. Refer to server log for more
information.
Looks like it never helped us in rc19. Back on rc17 just now, which we
still have to restart a few times a day,

MissingSourceFile in LoginController#login PROBLEM
Hi All,
I''m new to this and having a hard time getting a ruby on rails app to work. The problem seems to be realted to sqlite3 but as far as I know sqlite3 is working properly on its own. You can check out my error messages at http://129.173.68.245
Any advice on what might be causing this problem is greatly appreciated.

Message size incorrect?
Hi there,
I recently installed a plugin for SquirelMail (php imap client,
squirrelmail.org) which adds up message sizes per folder to display a nice
total size of each subscribed folder. After consulting the plugin
maintainers at SquirrelMail in this thread:
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.mail.squirrelmail.plugins/12468/focus=12468
There is quite a discrepancy in the rfc822.size reported by

dovecot-1.0.rc15 with quota-rewrite on FreeBSD
Hello,
I tried to compile dovecot rc15 from the sources with the quota-rewrite patch (http://dovecot.org/patches/1.0/quota-rewrite.diff) on FreeBSD 6.1, but the compilation stop with the following errors.
I am not very good in coding, so if you could fix the patch for FreeBSD it will be great.

Install fails when libdir and libexecdir are the same directory
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi,
I'm using Dovecot 1.2.9. I configured it like this:
% ./configure --prefix=/opt/rt --libdir=/opt/rt/lib \
--libexecdir=/opt/rt/lib [other args...]
It compiled fine, but failed to install, because it tries to install a
directory called <libdir>/dovecot/imap, and a file called
<libexecdir>/dovecat/imap, which obviously
