Error: imap-login: Can't connect to auth server at default: Resource temporarily unavailable
So I just upgraded from Dovecot 0.99 to the latest 1.0 RC2 because I was having all sorts of Authentication problems and crashes in 0.99. The upgrade did not solve the problem apparently. Dovecot still crashes periodically and always needs to be manually rebooted. The log file errors at the time of the crash: dovecot: Jul 12 14:30:59 Error: imap-login: Can't connect to auth server at

mail looping
We are running Postfix 2.3.3 and Dovecot 1.0-RC27 on a Solaris 10 server. We use the Dovecot LDA for local delivery. Problems arise with looping mail whenever a user's .forward contains a reference to themselves. This most frequently occurs when a user sets up a vacation since it then puts this in their .forward file: \username, "|/usr/bin/vacation username" The vacation program

%d/%n doesn't work... why?
Hello all, I've been trying to setup my postfix and dovecot to AUTH with mysql, and I'm almost there! BUT, for some reason, dovecot won't create the folders in their proper location. For some reason, instead of going into /var/vmail/pplsnet.com/{username}location, where the postfix put all the emails, dovecot creates a whole new set of folders in /var/vmail/{username} I have

But if I use userdb static, I works fluently. Below are my Dovecot

Dovecot Migration: Retrieving/Logging POP/IMAP Passwords in Plaintext
Hi List I'm currently in the process of migrating my dovecot imap/pop users to a new server and have to extract their passwords in order to import them into the new system (different password encryption schemes). I've tried enabling auth_* debug parameters in my dovecot.conf in the hope that this would result in logging plaintext passwords to the dovecot log. However dovecot does not log

Master user with "user="?
Hello, In our configuration, we are using a "passdb passwd-file", with "user=" directives in each username, and a separate "userdb passwd-file" which contains the target usernames for the "user=" directives. This works fine, for normal logins via POP and IMAP. For customer support testing purposes, we also set up a temporary "master=yes"

How to deal with mail to unknown virtual recipients?
Hello list, I am not quite sure whether this is a questions for Dovecot or Postfix. I have set up, virtual hosting for one domain (for test purposes) using a passwd-file as passdb and a static userdb (see dovecot -n at the end) along with Postfix in a manner described in [1], i.e. a non-Postfix mail store. Other than that I also do hosting for the canonical domain which is for users with a
