Upgrade Samba with latest backports packages
Hi Michael,
there seems to be a trick necessary to upgrade Samba with the latest
backports update. Maybe I simply didn't find it in the update notes.
If I do apt update for example on a member server I get:
/19 packages can be upgraded. Run 'apt list --upgradable' to see them./
apt list --upgradable shows:

Upgrade Samba with latest backports packages
It seems so, yesterday I got a working update to Samba 4.21.3:
ldb-tools 2:2.10.0+samba4.21.3+dfsg-1~bpo12+1 etc.
But it seems Michael had it repaired, got just a mail from my apticron
service:
The following packages are currently pending an upgrade:
ldb-tools 2:2.10.0+samba4.21.3+dfsg-5~bpo12+1
libldb2 2:2.10.0+samba4.21.3+dfsg-5~bpo12+1
libnss-winbind 2:4.21.3+dfsg-5~bpo12+1

I tried to update a member server's samba version from 4.20.5 to 4.21.1 using Bookworm-backports and get the following error:

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have

Low performance
Hi!
I do a rsync between 2 machines. The throughput is only 2 MByte/Sec.
Each machine is a Supermicro server with

24 x 2TByte SATA Disks as a RAID6
2 Intel Corporation 82599EB 10-Gigabit SFI/SFP+ Network-cards
Both run Ubuntu 11.04 64Bit.
Both use rsync version 3.0.7 protocol version 30

vfs_shadow_copy2 cannot read/find snapshots
Hi Sebastian,
why are you using shadow:snapprefix if this is just ?snap??
Does it work using ONLY shadow:format = snap_GMT-%Y.%m.%d-%H.%M.%S ?
If you use snapprefix you also need to use shadow:delimiter (in your case this would be ?_?). However, I never managed to get it working with snapprefix on my machines.

Problems after DC upgrade
Well, it almost went okay.
Thumbnail: I had two DCs, running the latest in buster. I created a new one running bookworm and 4.21.3. I joined the new machine as a DC. I then transferred the FSMO roles from one of the old ones and demoted that one. My plan is to create a fourth new one and demote the other old one. But, two problems:
1. The dns on the new DC is not responding. It did

Winbind / Samba auth problem after username change
No, i dont think is needed for all to rejoin.
Now next server, do the same but now dont delete everything
Again stop samba and winbind.
Backup the 2 /var/lib/samba and /var/cache/samba folder.
Now in /var/lib/samba delete winbind*.tdb
And *.tdb in /var/cache/samba
USE THE SMB.CONF as before, modify it for the needed server.
Start samba and winbind again.
Type wbinfo -u first and

Users can't access snapshot
Hello,
I create a volume in LVM2 (thin) to use snaphots, so normal users can
recover files from the snapshot. I set some parameters for samba and for
the snapshots so normal users can access the snapshot and the snapshots
will be listed in Windows explorer. Here my volume info
