Icecast/Ices and Mountpoints
How does one get mountpoints working. I have tried time and time to get
seperate mountpoints going (eg 56k and 112k on /56 and /112) but no dice.
Do I need to start 2 instances of icecast?
Any pointers are appreciated.

AW: final question: how many mountpoints can icecast handle ?
Hi Jack
thanks a lot for the inside information about the mountpoints.
So what you're saying is that I need for my project when
doing with icecast 1.x
- per 25-50 concurrent users one single server
So problem is, if I wanted to handle, say 1000 streams,
I would need 200 Servers..this puts the concept a bit
in jeopardy because that would push the cost of the service
into astronomical..in

icecast2 mountpoints maximum
We are using icecast as stream-relay for a true narrowcast solution
we've developed. The idea behind the system is that each individual
client gets it's own mountpoint.
Basically we have an application that creates streams. Its written in
c++ and uses libshout to handle connecting to icecast.
Everything works fine, as long as we keep the number of mountpoints
below 347. As soon as we

Tracking bandwidth used of individual mountpoints?
Is it possible to somehow meter and log the bandwidth used by
individual mountpoints? I'm using mrtg to monitor the whole server,
but I'd like to know which mountpoints are creating the most traffic
so I can offer better-priced streaming packages to users who really
aren't using all that much bandwidth. And also to be able to charge
more for users who use way much more bandwidth than

No. Without re-encoding, resource usage is very very low.

After I enabled SSL, stream mountpoints broke
I'm running Icecast package 2.4.1 on Ubuntu 14.04 from ttp://
download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/dm8tbr/xUbuntu_14.04.
I've been running on this server for about 6 months now without any issue
and all my streams run great. This icecast server is running on the same
host that my wordpress site is running on. This is all on my own private
server, not a hosting service.

how to switch mountpoints
hey can anyone help us out with this one?
we're working on a system for our community radio station that uses a
mysql/php interface a database to manage users and a schedule system. since
we have different copies of liveice and ices on different machines for
different applicaitons around campus (they are all on different icecast
mountpoints on our main server), we need our php script to

swapping mountpoints
Hi,
is it possible to swap and/or delete mountpoints on an icecast2 server?
I need this so I can start another stream on the same mountpoint.

the playlist ?
_ i even made a separate .xml for when .mp3 archives come up , and i've
tried /64kbpsR AND /64kbpsR.mp3 as mountpoints . ,
all my archives from before December are mp3 ! gh .,

listener authentication for multiple mountpoints; client connections seems high
Two quick questions:
1. Is it ok to use the same password file for multiple mountpoints, or
will that cause problems?
2. Why would my clients number 113 larger than my number of listeners?
It was right earlier today, but when I restarted the sources it
increased by 113, and it has stayed that high since then. I find it
especially odd since I have clients set to 100 in icecast.xml, and

mountpoint fallback support
I just was looking at the CVS nightly build of the icecast2\src\source.c and see that the mountpoint fallback is now implemented (compared to the 2.0.0 release's source.c)
I was hoping to use this feature to support a multi-home radio station that has a master mountpoint stream and offsite "guest" mountpoints. These guest mountpoints would attach on a scheduled based and,

Mountpoints
I've been thinking about mountpoints recently. There have been a few problems related to them:
- If dbox mails and indexes are in different filesystems, and index fs isn't mounted and mailbox is accessed -> Dovecot rebuilds indexes from scratch, which changes UIDVALIDITY, which causes client to redownload mails. All mails will also show up as unread. Once index fs gets mounted again,

After I enabled SSL, stream mountpoints broke
Philipp,
Thank you for your quick response. I can't believe that I didn't think of
that...I guess I just assumed that it would use SSL. I'm using Liquidsoap
as my source client. Once you brought that up I started researching
whether there was a way to force Liquidsoap to use SSL and from what I
found it doesn't look like there is an option...but please correct me if

mountpoint fallback support
After I installed the latest nightly build, it looks like the fallback works without rebuffering. I do see one problem -- when the main mountpoint stream restarts, the fallback continues to play. Once I stop the fallback mountpoint stream, the main mountpoint stream restarts, but only after client rebuffering
Also, during the mountpoint switchovers, sometimes the meta-data is lost in the

Adding authenticated mountpoints
I've got a jukebox type programme streaming out through multiple Ices
(0.4) sources, and an Icecast (2.2) server streaming to the listeners
over the web.
As a new user starts to play tracks on the jukebox, it writes a new
ices.conf file (with the specific mountpoint, bitrate etc for that user)
and spawns an instance of Ices to stream out that user's music. As it
stands today Icecast

Forcing an ID on all mountpoints
Karl & All,
Thanks for the replies.. It looks like there might be 1,000 ways to skin
this cat. I was even looking at the LiquidSoap Harbor code as well- but
only if I can run LiquidSoap as a service under CentOS.

Limiting mountpoints
Hi List,
I'm pretty new to IceCast and I've got a question,
Is it possible to limit the amount and types of streams (mountpoints) a
user creates?
Scenario:
I've got several users (say 10), that I want to be able to stream
through my server. But to limit the bandwith costs I'd like to limit
the amount of data they stream.
- The mount specific options will allow me to

final question: how many mountpoints can icecast handle ?
Hi everyone
I have one final question regarding my
diploma work. As it seems, the hardware performance
seems not to be the bottleneck when streaming out
ONE stream to x clients.
What happens when I use instead of ONE stream
different streams, because my concept is an on-demand
radio station that basically provides everyone with
access to a huge library of music files and lets him
create
