0.24.0 won''t start
Hi, I am having a problem where puppetd won''t start on one of my RHEL 5 machines with the --listen option enabled. 0.23.2 seems to run fine but 0.24.0 dies leaving the pid file still there. I installed puppet using the latest gem from reductive labs. It works fine on what is meant to be an identical system. I tried running strace and it seems to exit after trying to write to a bad

dovecot/lmtp munmap()-ing a lot
I observed several long running dovecot/lmtp processes hogging the CPU. Samba 3.0.x and high processor utilication caused by /etc/passwd access
Hello together, since upgrading on samba 3.0.x (issue happens with all 3.0. release) the cpu-load on my samba PDC ist constantly near 100%. The cpu power ist consumed by all running smb-processes. Systrace shows me that the smb processes tried to access to /etc/passwd on a permanent basis. My question is: Why tries samba to access etc/passwd so often and produces this high cpu-load? Regards,

Samba4 Kerberos kinit does not resolve kdc hostname
Hi, thank you so! much. Turning off avahi daemon was the solution! rapsberry instead of raspberry is a typo during porivision actually. Thank you again :) I will write an entry on my blog to make sure that does not happen again. One last time for google bots. IF you receive kinit: Cannot contact any KDC for realm while getting initial credentials make sure you don't run avahi However

Samba4 Kerberos kinit does not resolve kdc hostname
Hi, i am really depressed at this moment. I set up an domain controller using samba4 and an raspberry pi. I can join the domain and everything works BUT kerberos has some strange problems resolving my raspberry hostname. First of all some information: Raspberry pi is DHCP Server and DNS-Server (BIND9). First of all the configurations: Code: /usr/local/samba/etc/smb.conf # Global

Samba4 Kerberos kinit does not resolve kdc hostname
Hi, /etc/resolv.conf looks exactly like this: domain family.rapsberry.local search family.rapsberry.local nameserver 192.168.178.222 So to answer your question: yes the only Nameserver the raspberry has is itself. BUG: xend oopses on munmap of /proc/xen/privcmd
This is with last night''s Xen snapshot (apr 24th), on kernel 2.6.12-rc3 - but the mess is so horrid that I''m not quite sure how to fix it... This oops prevents xen from starting xenU domains. Basically xend does the following: 1) mmap /proc/xen/privcmd 2) call an ioctl to populate the mmap 3) munmap the mapping created in (1) During the munmap, the dom0 kernel oopses, as

samba 2.2.3a on PPC
I can join a domain, but wbinfo -t does not work. I used Mandrake's .src.rpm. I tried the same .src.rpm on a x86 machine and it works. strace's are attached. Any ideas? ...Jeff -------------- next part -------------- execve("/usr/bin/wbinfo", ["wbinfo", "-t"], [/* 38 vars */]) = 0 uname({sys="Linux", node="balsa", ...}) = 0

Performance of madvise / msync
Hi, I'm using py-rrdtool 0.2.1 with rrdtool 1.3.0 under 7.0-STABLE, and there's a couple of things about this new version of rrdtool that hurt performance under FreeBSD, but apparently help on whatever they tested on. For every update, the database file is opened, mapped into memory, madvise() is called, contents are modified, msync() is called, and the file is unmapped and closed:

Re: Memory Limitations for WINE 1.1.33 under Mac OS Leopard
I noticed in the loader/main.c that there seems to be some comment that it might be possible to set a build such that 3GB of memory can be allocated for a 32-bit process (through virtual memory mapping). static void check_vmsplit( void *stack ) { if (stack < (void *)0x80000000) { /* if the stack is below 0x80000000, assume we can safely try a munmap there */ if (munmap(

[PATCH] xenconsoled: use grant references instead of map_foreign_range
Grant references for the xenstore and xenconsole shared pages exist, but currently only xenstore uses these references. Change the xenconsole daemon to prefer using the grant reference over map_foreign_range when mapping the shared console ring. This allows xenconsoled to be run in a domain other than dom0 if set up correctly - for libxl, the xenstore path /tool/xenconsoled/domid specifies the

smbd+ldapsam infinite loop, cpu=100%
Hello, We have been running samba v2 for quite some time without any problems. But after the upgrade to samba-3.0.5 some anomalies have come out. I've compiled it with LDAP authentication support; the LDAP server is installed on the same machine and the communication is done via sockets. After working fine for some time, and as usual creating multiple threads from the smbd proccess, it
