critical performance problem
I have been using dovecot 1.0alpha4 + deliver/sieve in production for a few accounts (400'000). After testing 1.0.rc22 I decided to upgrade one of the imap servers... And... what a mess ! The server just gets unusable. I don't know why but with new release, it just overloads the system with I/O. It turns that with 1.0.rc22 I get 15Mo/s read on disk average, without any reason. What did

Anyway, now the imaptest runs nicely for both, and I'm again optimistic that the bug count is low enough for v1.0 to be released soon :) BTW. My

New mail not appearing consistently in Outlook 2003
Hi all, I have continuously experienced a new mail not appearing problem in Outlook 2003 on Windows XP. Using Dovecot 0.99.14 on Debian Sarge and now in 1.0rc26 and rc27. The problem exhibits itself as: Some new mail is randomly(?) not shown in my mailbox. More new mail does appear, so it's difficult to know when a message has been missed. If I restart Outlook the missed new messages will

mailbox locking
Dear Colleagues, I use exim's appendfile transport, procmail and a local mutt on my system, they all (to my knowledge) use lockfiles when working with mboxes. However, `doveconf | grep lock` says dotlock_use_excl = yes lock_method = fcntl mail_max_lock_timeout = 0 mbox_dotlock_change_timeout = 2 mins mbox_lock_timeout = 5 mins mbox_read_locks = fcntl mbox_write_locks = dotlock fcntl

1.0.rc23 tomorrow
http://dovecot.org/nightly/dovecot-latest.tar.gz Would be nice to get some testing before the actual release. I've now finally gone through all the "TODO" mails in this list and my INBOX and fixed pretty much every problem I know of. There are still some mbox bugs, but I can't really get them fixed unless someone figures out how to reproduce them

startup script under FreeBSD 6.2 / dovecot-1.0rc22
Hi all, I recently installed Dovecot rc22 from the FreeBSD ports and I have some problem with the dovecot startup: - If I start dovecot manually, it works fine, it starts and I get messages in /var/log/maillog - If I reboot the machine, that's where the problem appears, dovecot doesn't seem to start and I get nothing, no errors in /var/log/maillog Any idea if this is a known

dovecot forward multipart problem
Hi, I experience problems everytime i forward a mail (basically, when forwarding an email containing an attachement). I'm using thunderbird (it does the same with outlook clients) with the forward parameter "as attachement" instead of "inline". (Using the inline parameters works fine). When i forward a mail with attachements (eg a jpeg file), the attachements file is

But that bug is nevertheless out there, in the wild, on such systems, potentially affecting dovecot's delivery of valid user email. I have installed rc22 and tried it with my mbox-based mail - fine. Then I converted that mbox to Maildir to see if new feature (saving state without QUIT) works - first run - I get time out. Second run - I get rest of the Maildir scanned and get into mailbox. Fine. but.... # telnet enders2 110 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1). Escape character is '^]'.
