validations.rb of ActiveRecord - bug or misunderstanding?
Either I''m not understanding how things are used, or this might be a bug
in ActiveRecord. I''m using version 1.13.2.
In my version of activerecord/lib/active_record/validations.rb (the svn
trunk version is browsable at
http://dev.rubyonrails.org/browser/trunk/activerecord/lib/active_record/validations.rb
), I have:

RoR uses something rather than erb or eRuby?
it seems that RoR doesn''t use erb or eRuby to generate its output for
rhtml?
the program erb and the description of eRuby at
http://www.eruby.info
both said that
<% print "foo bar" %> or <% puts "hello" %>
will be placed into the output...
but currently for RoR, it won''t...
only <%= expr %> is doing it and it cannot be print or

Eruby.import -> "uninitialized constant" error
I''m working on porting a dynamic website done in PHP over to mod_ruby. I
have everything set up and working nicely (I can make a .rhtml page, put
ruby code between <% %> and it works etc), but when I try to use
"Eruby.import" as a sort of analog to PHP''s "require_once()", I run into
trouble.
1) eruby is in my cgi-bin
2) here''s a sample of

eRuby & Rails: Not Compatible
I''m new to Ruby, Rails, and this list. I''ve tried searching for an
answer but it all seems to be over my head. I have all the books but
again they seem to leave me on my own to figure out the stuff that
really matters. Where is the best place to find out the details?
Exactly what are these much celebrated "naming conventions"; i.e. where
do I find an exhaustive

deployment survey
Hello Mongrels,
Building on the last messages about Fastthread, can we get a detailed
survey of the different ways people are deploying their applications?
It will help with near-future Mongrel development.
Please include the following things:
* Framework, if any (Camping, Merb, Rails, Nitro, Ramaze, IOWA, Rack...)
* Mongrel version
* Mongrel handlers used (rails, dirhandler, camping,

Native erb lacks -%>, where is Rails'' erb?
Native ERB in ruby, and eruby, seem to lack the -%> feature for
suppressing trailing newlines. Thus
erb -n script
gives errors. Where is Rails ERB so I can invoke it directly?
Thank you

switch mod_ruby to fastcgi but still use eruby?
Hello there list-
I have a question I hope someone can answer. I have a Debian server
that currently has mod_ruby and eruby installed and working great for
the last year or so. I also have one rails app working great on this
box. My question is this: I want to switch to fastcgi so i can have
more than one rails app, but there are already many scripts using eruby
with no framework at all just

Getting started on win32 - without Rails.
Hi,
I''m trying to get started developing my first ruby-powered web-app. I wont
be using Rails for this, at least I don''t see any reason why I should.
However, the "getting started" sections in the documentation only shows
you how to start a Rails application.
My mindset comes from PHP/JSP-type languages where you embed code into
HTML. It seems the way to do this with

mongrel_upload_progress & plugin question in general
Hello,
So, I grabbed the mongrel_upload_progress code from subversion
because I really need something similar for a project I am working
on. Anyway, I installed the gem and can''t figure out a few things.
1) I''m not sure what Upload < GemPlugin::Plugin "/handlers" is for
2) How to call the Progress < GemPlugin::Plugin "/handlers" handler.
While I

ActiveRecord 1.13.2 -> 1.14.0 breaks Postgres connectivity
To Whom It May Concern:
I have an ActiveRecord-based application (non-Rails). Life was grand
until I upgraded ActiveRecord yesterday, after which point I was getting
TONNES of these errors from my app and in PostgreSQL''s logs:
FATAL: terminating connection due to administrator command
According to Google searching, this happens when an external process
sends PostgreSQL SIGINT or

Replacing ERB with Erubis
Hey guys,
I''ve been hearing a lot about erubis: http://www.kuwata-lab.com/erubis/
Especially about how much faster it is than straight ERB.
In their Ruby on Rails support docs: http://www.kuwata-lab.com/erubis/users-guide.05.html#topics-rails
They state that with a few added lines to your environment.rb it will
replace ERB completely.
I''m wondering if anyone has done this in

Problems with "Marco Polo Großer Reiseplaner 2005/2006" - Can't print/Street names not shown correctly/Route not shown
Hello.
Thanks to the tip to use Wine 0.9.12., I now successfully installed
"Marco Polo Gro?er Reiseplaner 2005/2006" on Wine 0.9.12. running
on Gentoo Linux. After the installation finished, I upgraded to
Wine 0.9.13.
First off, the names of the streets aren't printed correctly. Please
see <http://www.myimg.de/?img=WineMarcoPoloGroerReiseplaner2.png>.

Non-Erubis Templates
Trunk Issue: Because of the use of ''autoload'', template handlers other
than Erubis are not loaded automatically (Haml, XMLBuilder). Either
this should be fixed, or the documentation should be updated to
instruct people how to use non-Erb template engines.
Apparently the solution is to do something like this in merb_init.rb:
::Merb::AbstractController.register_engine

how to use upload progress?
I''m a bit confused about how to get upload progress to work with
mongrel.. I''ve installed the mongrel_upload_progress (0.1) gem, but
have no idea what to do with it.
According to the following page:
http://technoweenie.backpackit.com/pub/602283
there''s a patch (mup.diff) which seems like it patches the
mongrel_upload_progress plugin
The following blog entry makes it

mongrel_upload_progress and attachment_fu
Can one use mongrel_upload_progress in combination with attachment_fu
(db_file)?
I wan''t to store uploaded files directly in a mysql-database - not in
the filesystem.
Is there a way to use mongrel_upload_progress to do this, or do I have
to store
files in the filesystem and copy them to the database?
Thanx

restarting cluster without killing in progress file uploads
Hello,
I have a cluster of three Mongrels running behind Pound. All is running
well except when I restart the cluster (mongrel_rails cluster::restart)
any in progress file uploads (handled through mongrel_upload_progress)
stop uploading. That is, if I''m uploading a file (via a web app being
served by the mongrel cluster) during a restart, my browser will
indefinitely pause as if it is

Uploading Large (100mb+) files
I have an Apache 2.2.3 (mod_proxy_balancer) frontend server that does
not have mongrel installed. It does proxy requests to several other
mongrel-only servers (each running 2 mongrel processes). Each mongrel
node has the same rails code-base and it''s working perfectly.
However, my question is when I add an upload file form... where is it
going to physically put that file? I mean since
