MacOS X and quota-plugin
Hi all, I've installed dovecot 1.0 rc12 on a MacOS X client system with only a handful of users ? all virtual ? and would like to enable quotas. I've tried searching the wiki for information on how to do this, but haven't been able to find anything ? which is why I turn to the list in hope there's someone out there who can point me in the right direction. I've

Newbie question: How to make dovecot read /var/mail/user while using Maildir
Hi I've been trying to figure out how to make dovecot read the system standard /var/mail/user, which is in mbox-format, while at the same time using Maildir as the preferred method of storage. When in Maildir-mode, I can store mail on the server without a hitch, but I don't receive mails. When in mbox-format, I can read and write, but the risk of corrupting mails is to high for me to

Deleting when Over Quota
Hi All, I've read a bit about this but don't really see a full solution anywhere. Has anyone actually got a good fix for this? Telling a user they are over quota then not allowing them to delete anything does seem the height of perversion. =) Question is - is this even a problem for the IMAP server? Or should the MUA be detecting over quota problems and then issuing the right

maildri++ quota
When is the maildir quota usages recalculated and written to the second line of the "maildirsize" file? I'm using 1.1.4, and I reset the quotas for my users by just taking the first line of their maildirsize file and deleting the rest. -- Ralf Hildebrandt (Ralf.Hildebrandt at charite.de) snickebo at charite.de Postfix - Einrichtung, Betrieb und Wartung Tel. +49

Driving quota out of a database.
Hi there, I'm using postgres as a userdb for dovecot. I'm am trying to get the quota plugin to work. I have a column in my table that returns the quota in KB. I am using the postgres expression "('maildir:storage=' || mailstore_control.mailbox.quota) AS quota" as recommended in the manuals. This expression is NULL to start with, which I take to mean unlimited

quota calculating
Hey everyone, Currently where I work we use qmail. Every time a message is delivered, qmail seems to walk through the user's entire maildir in order to calculate quota usage. Delivering messages simultaneously to just a few users who are allowed large maildirs (1-2GB) will bring our servers to their knees. Which brings me to dovecot. I use dovecot whereever I can, but haven't yet

Dovecot - Issue with Maildir++ quotas
Hi, I've been bitten by an issue running Squirrelmail on top of Dovecot using Maildir++ quotas. Having configured these quotas in Dovecot, I notice that Dovecot appears not to exclude the 'Trash' folder from its quota calculation (which it should do, according to the Maildir++ spec). Unfortunately this breaks Squirrelmail if I try to delete a message from a close-to-quota

v1.1 QUOTA and inbox quota
My mail agent is postfix and by default it imposes the INBOX size of 50 meg. I would like my imap mail clients (I'm using Thunderbird) to "see" this and warn me when my inbox fills up. I tried doing it with the old quota system but wasn't successful. With the new quota rule system it looks like per-mailbox quotas are possible, however when I do this: quota = maildir

Maildir++ quota inconsistency
I've found what I think is an inconsistency in the Maildir quota implementation. According to the Maildir++ quota specification at: http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/README.maildirquota.html Maildir++ quota can be specified as maximum size, or maximum number of messages, or even both. The size specification is supposed to be in bytes. So I could use '10000000S' to set a quota of

Dovecot LDA and quota
Hi List, I recently upgraded to Dovecot 1.1.3 on FreeBSD and got into trouble over the quotas. We implemented per-user quotas using plugin { quota = maildir } and protocol lda { mail_plugins = quota } We use a passwd-file userdb with extra fields, which used to be quota=maildir:storage:<bytes> which I changed to quota_rule=*:bytes:<bytes> What

Worthwile to use quotas?
I'm aware that dovecot doesn't support Maildir++ quotas yet (pity). However, is it still worthwhile to set up something like Postfix + Maildrop to use quotas, or is dovecot's lack of support just going to throw a wrench in the works? Thanks, :Peter

New to list, got a quota question
Hello folks - I'm running dovecot on top of qmail/vpopmail/mysql, serving up about 2500 mailboxes. Everything is running very smooth and fast.... I recently upgraded dovecot to 1.1, so I'm trying to implement some extra features like IMAP quotas. I'm using the sql passdb, with the following config: driver = mysql connect = host=/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock user=username

1.1rc4 problem with maildir++ quota and POP3
Hi, it looks like there is a bug (in dovecot or in my config) with quota on maildir mailboxes when accessed via POP3. The maildirsize is not created when not already present (even after a DELE + QUIT command). The quota limit (the first line of maildirsize) is not updated if values are not in sync with those in the database. If maildirsize is present, DELE commands are correctly reported in

Opportunistic quota recalc
I'm switching quota backend to redis (from maildir++), so all my current usages are reset. I get that I can do "doveadm quota recalc -A", but it takes forever (and auth processes time out/crash). It would make much more sense to recalc the usage on login if the current usage is unset. Is there no way to do a recalc-quota-on-first-login? Thanks. -- Tom Sommer

Getting maildir++ quotas working
Can somebody post details for how to get maildir++ quotas working in the latest CVS? I have tried but can't get the CAPABILITY string to show "QUOTA"; and the GETQUOTAROOT command is recognized, but returns nothing... 2 GETQUOTAROOT INBOX * QUOTAROOT "INBOX" "" * QUOTA "" () 2 OK Getquotaroot completed. 1.1b3 and Maildir quota
I upgraded a 1.0 install to 1.1b3. Almost everything is working peachy-keen :) It seems faster to me, Offline Folders and 'new mail' options for Thunderbird are now working, and Mail.App doesn't seem to need the extra namespace. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to read my quotas any longer. I went through the docs, and I see the quota plugin has changed, but there doesn't

Timezone of logentries from dovecot
Hi I've been using dovecot for a long time now, and have nothing but praise for it. It's considerably faster than uw-imap, and has been very easy to configure, in spite of my limited knowledge of unix. One thing still botheres me, though, and that's the time of the entries in my logfiles. It seems that dovecot logs it's entries in GMT, while I'm using GMT+1. This is made

Dovecot or postfix Quota
Hello, I'm a bit confused with the dovecot quota support. What is it for? I thought postfix should be the one managing the quota. If I set up a quota in dovecot, does dovecot keep the messages size under certain limit? What happen when you reach the quota limit? What's the difference between postfix quotas and dovecot quota? I'm confused about this. Thank you! -- Adri?n Ribao
