authenticating with LDAP and SSL
I managed to configure Dovecot to use a local OpenLDAP server to authenticate clients, without using SSL. However, I would rather that LDAP is accessed using SSL, but I cannot get Dovecot to connect. All that I did was change "uris" to "ldaps://localhost", and this appears in the maillog: Mar 18 12:53:00 server dovecot: Dovecot v1.0.rc15 starting up Mar 18 12:53:01 server

dovecot fails to start at boot, but starts manually
dovecot-1.0-1.2.rc15.el5 on CentOS 5 I reboot the server and dovecot fails to start. But I can then issue "service dovecot start" and it starts up just fine. How to debug? I don't see anything in /var/log/messages nor /var/log/maillog. I did have to set SELinux to permissive (in /etc/selinux/config), as dovecot can't get at its SSL certs. I'm debugging that

Dovecot on CentOS5 - (login) returned error 127
Running CentOS Linux 5 with sendmail-procmail putting email in /var/spool/mail. I'm running pop3 only with the servers configured to authenticate with ldap (which is configured and running OK). I do have this same configuration on an older FC6 box and it works fine. I'm thinking I just need to upgrade dovecot given all the nss_ldap problems it has had, but I hate not using RPM

dovecot 1.0 + postfix quota warning
Hello, I need to know how to make a quota warning message from Dovecot or Postfix. I'm using Dovecot 1.0.rc15 and Postfix 2.3.3. I didn't installed the quota-warning patch cause i read that it doesn't work with dovecot filesystem quotas (as i'm using). What else can i use for this? I wanna warn users when they reach ..let's say 90% of their quota by sending an e-mail to their

user_global_* ldap deliver
Searched archive, but failed to find... :-( "deliver" does not honor user_global_* from dovecot-ldap.conf or userdb static{} also it looks like delivery attempts being made to %n/Maildir/cur ?? one other curious thing, use of ${recipient} in master.cf|deliver command causes the "passdb ldap" lookups to be completely ignored? only checks passdb and ignores userdb compleletely?

rsyslog.conf - why the "-" in this entry? mail.* -/var/log/maillog

Mail to nowhere
The next phase of my testing procedure involves the simple act of delivering mail to my test box. When I send a message to either a valid or relayed user at my remote machine's address, it never gets there. I know this virtually for sure because I'm tailing /var/log/maillog and nothing new has been added for the past hour. I'm thinking eventually my ISP will send the message back to me

Xen + NFS
Thanks for Dovecot! I am currently testing several scenarios to help determine how to best implement dovecot for our environment. One scenario of particular interest is Maildir + NFS, load balanced between several servers running dovecot. I am not sure anyone would ever want to implement what I am about to describe here, but none-the-less, I thought I would mention it to the list to see if
