tilde in mbox:, when used in non-system user db
Originally I've thought that this is related to INBOX field, but it turned out it happens only when you specify mbox. Consider following passwd-file: testms::10000:10000:imap,,,:/home/vmail/ppgk.com.pl/testms/./::userdb_mail=mbox:~/Mail:INBOX=/home/vmail/ppgk.com.pl/%u/inbox or following line from userdb static: args = uid=10000 gid=10000 home=/home/vmail/ppgk.com.pl/%u/./

flock problems with index files and passwd-file
While experimenting a bit, I found that for some reason, locking indexes with flock is problematic, but only if user is taken from passwd-file. The host system is openbsd 3.9, dovecot's configuration is added at the bottom. Authentication is from two places - first from mentioned passwd-file, then from passwd file using bsdauth (in this case, there're no problems with flock). So, if

Hi all, I'm a new user trying to get a Proline UPS I1000 UPS to work with freenas 9.3 over USB. When running upsdrvctl I get a permission denied error. imap: Error: net_connect_unix(/.../auth-master) failed: Invalid argument
Hi, I'm unable to get past the subject error trying to setup dovecot 2.1.10 on FreeBSD 6.4: right after login the server closes the connection (testing with telnet) I've tried manualy chown()ing auth-master to 666, so permission issues should be ruled out. I'm attaching logs, config and excerpt of ktrace -id. I've built a version with debug symbols, but I don't seem to hit a

Jailed X applications
Hello. Has anyone here ever successfully set up a jail for X apps, connecting to an external X server? I'm trying an experimental sandbox setup here. I have a jail running on an aliased IP on my local machine and X programs connect out of the jail to my local X server via an SSH tunneled TCP connection. All other packets to and from the jail are denied by the packet filter. The trouble I am

Rawlogging uid
Hi, this is my first post to the list after years of passive following every now and then. Dovecot: 2.0.13 (3d07ab746a67) prebuilt binaries from xi.rename-it.nl OS: i686 Debian 6.0 squeeze/sid I am about to run a setup where users are virtual and their mail is owned by vmail user. I bumped into minor client issue and needed to enable rawlogging according to

IMAP logging / rawlog
I am trying to monitor with Nagios that my phones are consistently checking into dovecot via IMAP. I used to be able to parse syslog for imap-login messages. I have since updated my phones, the phoness email client (k9-mail) and dovecot. Now the imap-login messages are few and far between. However, I can clearly see via tcpdump that some traffic is happening when I click refresh on k9. I enabled

Authentication by certificats (a bug or my misconfiguration)
Today I've been trying to get dovecot (1.0 rc2) to use certificates for client side authentication. If my memory serves right, beta8 had no problems with it (although it was some time ago and on different machine). Similar setup works perfectly well for postfix (for authentication that is, on the same machine). Originally I thought I overdid some certificate settings (keyUsage, nsCertType,

userdb static and doubled homedir problem
With following configuration: userdb static { args = uid=10000 gid=10000 home=/home/vmail/domain.tld/%u/./ mail=maildir:~/maildirs } and accompanying passdb passwd-file consisting of only user and password, for example test:{PLAIN}test: dovecot will access home=/home/vmail/domain.tld/test/home/vmail/domain.tld/test/maildirs instead of home=/home/vmail/domain.tld/test/maildirs dovecot

OpenSSH hanging
Hi there, I'm having some strange behaviour from OpenSSH It presents itself when using the "ssh -t" / pseudo terminal. We are using this feature to update the wtmp and it is working fine on SuSE and RH, but our AIX hosts are getting hung. The first attempt is usually successful, but eventually, the session is hung and the CRTL-Z does not put the process into

1.9.17p4 - Hanging smbd on logout ?!
Dear Samba Developers, OS: Linux 2.0.31 Samba1.9.17p4 today I detected that smbstatus shows more users logged in as really using the samba service. It seems that at logoff sometimes the smbd won't die and won't free the used tcp/ip socket: Output from "netstat -a": Active Internet connections (including servers) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address

Double homedirs and tilde problems in case of chroot in passwd-file / static dbs.
Recently I've made the post about "double homedir" problem, but I couldn't recreate it later. Here're the exact steps to make it happen (configuration is at the bottom): 1) set configuration as below with passwd-files 2) clean testms dir (not necessary though) 3) reload dovecot (HUP is enough) 4) access the server with any client using testms user (make sure no other

OpenSSH 3.9p1 X11 forwarding
Hi, We upgraded from 3.7.1p2 to 3.9p1. The behaviour of the X11 forwarding changed significantly, it is much slower. See below the truss output (server side which runs 3.7.1p2) an check for the timestamp (6 seconds delay). Do you have any idea what may causes this behaviour? Platform is Solaris 5.9 Generic_117171-05. Thanks in advance, Andy Kocher 19279: 9.5463 sigaction(SIGCLD,

I am still unable to get the following command to work correctly. Sync passwd and smbpasswd
I am having problems setting up the smbpasswd command to sync the /etc/passwd and $SAMBAHOME/private/smbasswd files. My passwd program (/usr/bin/passwd %u) doesn't seem to want to wait around for smbpasswd to send it a second password for confirmation. I am running Solaris 2.5.1 (103640-23) on an Ultra 2300 and using Samba 1.9.18p10 compiled with gcc 2.8.1. I thought that I had this running

AW: sshd hangs
hello applied the patch described below - unfortunately we still experience rare hangs of the remote sshd. not surprising as the patch only changes a few lines in server_loop() - but not in server_loop2() which i used for non-interactive sessions. process id of hanging sshd: 26110 process is sleeping forever in poll (why does server_loop2() sleep forever?): root at XXX:~# truss -fp 26110 26110:
