Dovecot hung or what?
Here is my first major problem with dovecot. I am running rc15 on FreeBSD 6.1. I run dovecot supervised by DJB's daemontools. I run only the pop3 service. A colleague informed me that pop3 service was simply not responding. They could not rcv mail. When I checked the server, tail-ing dovecot.log, here is what was scrolling: [wash at nbi ~]$ tail -f /var/log/dovecot.log dovecot: Nov 23

RC5 Outlook POP3 problem
We have been using dovecot v1.0 alpha3 for almost 1 year for our mail hosting. It was running great until more accounts added to the hosting. I have been trying to upgrade it to v1.0 rc5 and we have found that the RC5 has problem with Outlook (Express) with POP accounts. We are getting error with POP3 on Outlook Express: Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for

dsync and pop3 migration plugin fails for large inbox due to idle timeout
Timo, There is a problem with the dsync POP3 migration plugin when syncing a large INBOX. What happens is dsync establishes a connection to the POP3 server at the beginning of the sync, but then it sits there idle until it's used to sync the UIDLs. On a very large inbox with many thousands of messages it will be idle for longer than a POP3 server's idle timeout setting. When the UIDL

Dovecot2 vs. AD, "Inactivity during authentication"
Hi, I'm trying to setup Dovecot2 for o IMAP client access o LDA for postfix mail delivery (with SIEVE) ... on a FreeBSD host. The FreeBSD server has no users (by intention), so I've set up a virtual mail domain, using LDAP lookups in Postfix. So far so good. Mail delivers into the proper mailbox. But I'm stuck getting Dovecot to authenticate. User- and passwd DB's are set

Dovecot randomly stops responding
Hi! I'm running Dovecot 1.0beta7 on FreeBSD 6.0 (i386) and it randomly stops responding. To mitigate the problem I made a little ruby scripts which logs in to the POP3 server every 3 minutes and, in case of error (the errors are usually timeout or end of file errors), restarts Dovecot. Although this keeps this keeps things working, I'd like to figure out what is causing Dovecot to stop

SSL_accept failed
Hello, I'm new to dovecot. I just installed it a few days ago on FreeBSD via the ports and got it up and running without too much trouble. Although yesterday I turned on the SSL/TLS features and tried to get secure connections to work. I don't get any error messages when launching dovecot, I saw it successfully create the SSL parameters after first enabling the feature yet I

pop3-login process leakage
Hi, I've recently deployed dovecot on our servers, to replace courier-imapd. I'm delighted with its features and performance, but there's a major problem - it's leaking pop3-login processes. We have about 60 client machines, each collecting mail once every two minutes. In this configuration, the number of pop3-login processes increases by about ten an hour - apparently without
