Dovecot deliver and procmail
Hi,
I have site w. around 7000 users, most of which have some procmail rules
(theres even .procmailrc in /etc/skel with rule to put spam into spam
folder). Afaik dovecot's deliver doesnt understand procmail rules, so
i'd like to ask if its possible to configure procmail so it saves mail
using deliver, without modifying users .procmailrc
Thanks for any pointers,

netapp/maildir/dovecot performance
We are seeing some poor performance recently that is focused around
users with large mailboxes (100,000 message /INBOX, 80,000 message
subfolders, etc).
The performance problem manifests as very high system% utilization -
basically iowait for NFS.
There are two imap servers with plenty of horsepower/memory/etc. They
are connected to a 3050c cluster via gig-e. Here are the mount
options:

deliver to subfolder?
Can dovecot's deliver deliver a mail to a certain subfolder within a
user's mailbox?
I was thinking of something along the lines of:
deliver -m subfolder
But what is the correct syntax to deliver to "spam", subfolder of INBOX?
deliver -m spam < message.txt
deliver -m INBOX.spam < message.txt

prefetch + static + deliver
Hi all...
The prefetch entry in the wiki says:
"If you're using Dovecot's local delivery agent, you'll still need a
valid userdb which it can use to locate the users. You can do this by
adding a normal sql/ldap userdb after userdb prefetch."
My question is:
Does it need to be a SQL/LDAP userdb? How about static or passwd?

deliver rewrites envelop-sender
Hello,
we are currently using sendmail, procmail, uwimap and qpopper. We are
planing to replace uwimap and qpopper with dovecot. Which seems to be a
very good idea :-)
But: Sendmail and Procmail will not be replaced.
Now I've realized that deliver rewrites existing "From <....> ..."
header lines to ">From <...> ..." and adds it's own "From

unexpected subfolder locaton in Maildir/.INBOX.subfolder
Hallo,
I try to migrate existing imap server to dovecot 1.2 in debian squeeze
if I connect to imap://user at host/INBOX
Inbox works as expected and I get the content of
Maildir/{cur,new,tmp}
Maildir/.subfolder already exists
if I connect to imap://user at host/INBOX.subfolder
I get "folder not found"
if I do a imap directory listing (raw mutt config, no subscriptions)

Dovecot deliver logging problem and procmail
Hello!
Currently I'm trying to integrate dovecot's deliver program into procmail.
So basically I'd write a patch for procmail to deliver not directly into
the mbox file but delivering with the dovecot deliver program.
Do you think this is a good concept?
For testing I use the commands discussed below. Currently I'm having a
problem that deliver doesn't recognize the

I'm using dovecot 2.0.16 and i would like to use acl for subfolder.
The file dovecot-acl is well written in both folder test and the

Mapping subfolder of a samba share in Windows fails with access denied
Hi,
I am trying to map a network drive on a Windows 7 client. It is possible
to map the shared folder, but as soon as I try to map a subfolder,
Windows shows an access denied message and prompts for another username
and password. The user has full control over the subfolder (configured
via the Windows security tab). The samba.log shows:

Hello folks,
I'm trying to set NTFS permissions from command line using smbcacls , does anyone here know the flags for both subfolder and file permission inheritance ? I'm trying the following way without success, it sets inheritance for subfolder or file but never the both.
smbcacls -S "ACL:user:ALLOWED/ givenflags /FULL" //127.0.0.1/share /directory

Subfolder in Maildir
Hello,
We have installed a brand new Dovecot because it seems very interesting as
an IMAP server. We created a mailbox for a test user and we succeeded in
copying some mails into it.
However making subfolders does not work. The only folders we can create are
in the root, next to the INBOX that is. We thought Maildir does support
subfolders (as opposed to mbox), are we wrong here?

shared mailbox subfolder permissions
Hi all,
when I create a subfolder in a public mailbox the dovecot-shared file is
copied for the newly created subfolder and all mails get the owner, group
and permissions from the file. Unfortunately the cur, new and tmp folders
only get the permissions from the file but owner and group are set
according to the creator. This effectivly makes the folder private to the
creator.
Is this the

Sieve fileinto a subfolder fails -- more info, possible workaround
After looking at the way Maildir represents subfolders, I changed
the sieve line from
fileinto "Lists/NCCC";
to
fileinto "Lists.NCCC";
and now it files into the NCCC subfolder of Lists as I wanted. I'm
not sure whether this is the expected behavior or just an accident
that plugging that string into the file name happens to result in the right
name.

subfolder sharing with "valid users"
Hi,
I'm currently using the following smb.conf file so that everyone can browse any subfolder without a login prompt under /engineering. (I have neither AD-based nor Winbind-based authentication now)
Even, as long as the UNIX permission is 777, anyone can write onto some folders somewhere down under this folder.

Sieve fileinto a subfolder fails
I'm using Dovecot 1.0.10 on Ubuntu 8.04, using the packages from the
distro; exim4 is my MTA and it's configured according to the
instructions in the wiki, everything is working fine for delivery into
the Maildir INBOX via Dovecot's LDA and reading mail via IMAP using
Thunderbird.
My habit on previous mail systems was to create a Lists folder and
subfolders under Lists for each
