ndmp?
When I search around, I see that nexenta has ndmp, and solaris 10 does not, and there was at least some talk about supporting ndmp in opensolaris ... So ... Is ndmp present in solaris 11 express? Is it an installable 3rd party package? How would you go about supporting ndmp if you wanted to? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

System neutral Daylight Savings Time response?
I'm searching for an r command that will notify me if I create a time that does not exist due to Daylight Savings Time. For example, if I run the following command on a windows machine > ISOdatetime(2010,03,14,2,10,0, tz = "") # My system time is set to the United States Central Time Zone [1] NA R returns NA, which is the behavior I want. However, if I run the same command on a

"Neutral" sources that attest to the success of the R project?
Hello everyone, The "R (programming language)" article in Wikipedia was nominated as a "Engineering and technology good article" but did *not* meet the good article criteria at the time (2010). The reviewer at the time made two interesting comments about the article: - Sources are almost all (except for one NYT article) online wiki-type sources. These may be

[POTS/BRI] Neutral comparisons of PCI vs. box?
Hello I need to find a recent and neutral comparison of the major products available to connect an Asterisk server to the telephone network, whether ISDN (BRI) or PSTN, and through a PCI card or some external box. I'm told there are less issues (echo, stability) with external boxes compared to PCI cards. Apparently, the main brands are Digium, Sangoma, Rhino Equipment, Patton, and

[PATCH][XEN] Use a union to pack the dual-short combos in an endian neutral way.
The first to members of a grant entry are updated as a combined pair. The following union patch uses a union so updated can happen in an endian neutral fashion. any more efficient way to transfer snapshot between two hosts than ssh tunnel?

[PATCH] Arch-neutral balloon driver
Attached patch makes the balloon driver arch-neutral (compiles on ia64... look ma, no #ifdef''s!). Please apply to xen-unstable. One change should be eyeballed, line 257 in balloon.c, because phys_to_machine_mapping[pfn] is not identical to pfn_to_mfn (different by sign bit, should be OK?) X45xx storage vs 7xxx Unified storage
We are looking at adding to our storage. We would like ~20TB-30 TB. we have ~ 200 nodes (1100 cores) to feed data to using nfs, and we are looking for high reliability, good performance (up to at least 350 MBytes /second over 10 GigE connection) and large capacity. For the X45xx (aka thumper) capacity and performanance seem to be there (we have 3 now) However, for system upgrades , maintenance

Archiving and Restoring Snapshots
I just received a special offer from Sun (marketing...) promising that I will learn "How to use ZFS snapshots for backup and restore purposes." The relevant doc is at... https://www.sun.com/offers/docs/zfs_snapshots.pdf It says: === Begin quote === Archiving and Restoring Snapshots Another use of snapshots is to create archives for long-term storage elsewhere. ZFS monitoring - best practices?
We''re starting to grow our ZFS environment and really need to start standardizing our monitoring procedures. OS tools are great for spot troubleshooting and sar can be used for some trending, but we''d really like to tie this into an SNMP based system that can generate graphs for us (via RRD or other). Whether or not we do this via our standard enterprise monitoring tool or

sync 54 million files, tuning rsync?
I'm trying to sync up 54 million files. I can break it down into different applications, but I still have to accomplish 17 million files in one "chunk" if possible. I'm using a fast (v440) cpu system with 32G ram. Originally I was running out of memory (seemed to increase like crazy with --delete on). I've upgraded to rsync 2.6.6 and the memory seems to be more stable

Status of Samba/ZFS integration
I''ve tried to set up a SAMBA file server that acts completely identical with a Microsoft Windows 2000 or 2003 one. First of all, the problem with the ACI ordering is simple: The Microsoft ACI specification imposes that the DENY ACIs are put on top. It can be solved with a simple chmod. Problem no.2 the Samba NFSv4 ACL module doesn''t interpret owner@, group@, everyone at . While
