Dovecot, Postfix and SMTP AUTH....
Hello.
I've notice a problem with SMTP AUTH in postfix with dovecot. My
configuration is based on Postgresql. I've created a function in
postgresql which returns password and username and attached it to
password_query. Query looks like this
password_query = SELECT username_out as username, password_out as
password FROM get_password(lower('%n'),lower('%d'));

smtpd_sasl_local_domain = $myhostname

Dovecot Submission Proxy Auth
Hi,
Just found out that Postfix does not implement/support the AUTH=sender
parameter.
So, back to Dovecot, can we use variables in the
submission_relay_user =
submission_relay_password =
then Dovecot will forward the username and password information of the
current user to the Postfix submission service for authentication?
Best regards,
Jacky

auth tcp socket, Authentication client gave a PID 7542 of existing connection
Hi Dovecot-list!
My setup consists of a dovecot server with lmtp delivery and 3 postfix
mta servers in front.
Previously the mtas authenticated (SASL) through the
courier-authdaemond software to our mysql database.
To get support for more password formats i migrated to dovecot for
SASL authentification.
Our postfix mtas connect to dovecot through a tcp-socket

Struggling to get dovecot working with postfix auth
Hi,
I am trying to create an authenticated relay server using Postfix and Dovecot.
However I am having two problems :
(a) If I create a dovecot config entry as follows :
unix_listener /var/spool/postfix-authrelay/private/dovecot-auth {
group = postfix
mode = 0666
user = postfix
}
Dovecot is unable to create the socket ? I thought surely if dovecot is started as root it should

SASL + Postfix woes
Okay, I wasn't going to try and fix up the messed up mail server I was
given; however, I decided that I might as well try.
Situation:
The system has a Postfix MTA and uses Dovecot for LDA and Cyrus-SASL
for SASL. That works fine.
I decided that I wanted to switch over to Dovecot for SASL. dovecot is
presently using MySQL for its database.
I make the (I thought) necessary changes in Postfix

Postfix and Dovecot SASL
Hello all,
I am struggeling to get my Dovecot SASL to work within postfix. I have used
the configuration example listed on the main-site of dovecot and it
basically isn't giving me any success at all. I am probably missing
something easy, but after spending a few days testing and walking through
everything I could think about I thought figured it was better to ask :)
Hope someone can point me

sieve redirect to foreign email gets “Relay access denied”
I have a postfix mail server with sql authentication and I want to
implement sieve on it.
Sieve is working relative good, rules who contain 'fileinto' are
executed perfectly.
The problem is the redirect to other servers.
I configured a rule in Sieve to redirect any email containing "redirect"
in subject to a specified foreign destination. #
So practically a email coming from

stat failed: Not a directory
I have recently installed dovecot on a FreeBSD mailserver running postfix.
But when I try to login with imap/pop3, I always get an error "stat failed:
Not a directory".
I guess it is something wrong with the mail format postfix uses to store the
message, but I don't seem to find the correct solution.
Here's the postfix log with the successful delivery:

Client can't connect to SMTP
I've just installed Dovecot and Postfix and my email client (Mac Mail)
cannot authenticate with the SMTP server. The error I receive says that
"The SMTP server doesn't support SSL (TLS) on port 465" -- yet, I've
installed SSL. Is there any good way to test or debug this?
Setup:
* SSL
* Dovecot SASL
* Dovecot LDA

I'm having a problem with dovecot and postfix. I'm using a dovecot
version 2.0.13.
Postfix (Version: 2.8.5) config is changed according to the

I have thought to build a virtual user and virtual mailbox, and use
the functionality of the Sieve.
However, when the test set, the mail not received the mailbox. Record

postfix sasl -> haproxy -> dovecot auth
Hello,
is it possible to configure configure haproxy to work with postfix sasl and dovecot auth like this:
clients -> 25:postfix -> 20025:haproxy -> 20025:auth-backend-1, 20025:auth-backend-2
The configuration I have now gives me this error randomly:
535 5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: Connection lost to authentication server
This is probably because haproxy change servers while

Can't connect to SMTP outside localhost
I have Dovecot setup with Postfix and can't seem to connect to to the SMTP
server (port 25) unless I'm on the server itself (telnet localhost 25). For
example, I cannot use my mail client, Thunderbird, to send mail from my
laptop -- it cannot even connect to the server. I checked the logs and
nothing shows up for the attempted connection.
