AuthDatabase CheckPassword broken?
I had been using the CheckPassword authentication interface with dovecot 2.2.15, https://wiki2.dovecot.org/AuthDatabase/CheckPassword, and it was working. After upgrading to 2.2.33.2 CheckPassword no longer works. The referenced wiki page says, Checkpassword Interface Read <username> NUL <password> NUL from fd 3. I've checked the information read from fd 3 with 2.2.33.2

logging IMAP username rather than UNIX username
Hi there I'd like to change my setup to log the _actual_ IMAP user's login, rather than the UNIX username. My system uses a virtual uid setup with qmail, where the mailboxes are owned by the 'vmail' user and authentication is via checkpassword using user%domain (ie email, just with % instead of @). So dovecot is recording _all_ logins as: imap-login: Login:

help with static userdb
Hey, This may be a dumb question... I'm trying to set up 1.0 with a static userdb, and I'm getting stuck. I have: userdb static { args = uid=500 gid=500 home=/domains/%d/%n } When I attempt to log in as, say, kyle at memoryhole.net (via telnet, so I *know* I'm logging in as that user), the debug log says that it thinks my home directory is

userdb static & Quota from LDAP?
Hi all, I just configured Dovecot 2.0.14 for "virtual" (i.e. non-system-) users: passdb { driver = ldap args = /etc/dovecot/conf.d/ldap-passdb.ext } userdb { driver = static args = uid=vmail gid=vmail home=/var/maildir/%u } Works fine so far - thanks for this great piece of software, Timo!!! Now I'd like to add per-user quotas that will also be stored in the LDAP

LDAP & static userdb
hi.. im just testing 2.0 before upgrading to v1.2 :) in auth-ldap.conf.ext i found # If you don't have any user-specific settings, you can avoid the userdb LDAP # lookup by using userdb static instead of userdb ldap, for example: # <doc/wiki/UserDatabase.Static.txt> #userdb { #driver = static #args = uid=vmail gid=vmail home=/var/vmail/%u #} On 1.2 im using LDAP lookup and

IMAP vs system username logging with checkpassword auth
Hi After upgrading to dovecot 1.0.7 I noticed that the actual username is no longer logged, but rather the system user (in my case 'vmail') under which my virtual set-up runs. Now I'm unable to see which virtual users log in. Any pointers on how to configure dovecot to log the actual username given during the IMAP dialogue would be appreciated. My dovecot.conf includes the following:

Replication with virtual users and static userdb possible ?
Is it possible to get replication working in a virtual user setup that uses a static userdb ? My environment is fairly simple and typical - there's a single system user (vmail) that owns all the home dirs (/var/mail/domain.com/user). The virtual users (userid at domain.com:secretpassword) are kept in a single file (/var/mail/domain.com/PASSWD) that's unique per domain, and referenced as a

Need help on checkpassword userdb/passdb
I'm experimenting with checkpassword as an auth method for usedb and passdb (http://wiki2.dovecot.org/AuthDatabase/CheckPassword). I've set up the userdb and passdb *exactly* as the wiki suggests as the "standard way": passdb { driver = checkpassword args = /user/util/bin/checkpassword } userdb { driver = prefetch } I've created a checkpassword program that does

cosmetic: "userdb" checkpassword
Hi, $ dovecot --build-options Build options: ioloop=epoll notify=inotify Mail storages: maildir SQL drivers: Passdb: checkpassword Userdb: checkpassword prefetch Isn't "checkpassword" misplaced in the userdb list? For me it seems that USERDB_CHECKPASSWORD is only used in configure and for printing the build-options. Additionally checkpassword protocol does

1.1 master auth not expanding static userdb variables
Can dovecot-1.1 deliver work with static userdb? I'm currently running dovecot-1.0.12 and postfix-2.4.6, with virtual users' maildirs all owned by vmail and mail_location = maildir:/var/mail/%Lu. The following definition of the dovecot transport in postfix/master.conf works fine with dovecot-1.0: dovecot unix - n n - 1 pipe flags=DRh

Hello, Are you sure about that I would need so recent version? That is ok to have some bugfixes but you are talking about the latest cutting edge debian jessie backports package. Even the mainline debian jessie only have 2.2.13 in it and my system is a complex wheezy installation, the last thing I want to do is to move all my components into jessie just because of this or do you know

trying to combine static userdb with LDAP passdb with per-user userdb_mail and userdb_home
Hello, dovecot users. I'm trying to cope with following problem I have single computer which will be going to be final destination for several virtual domains. Domains are stored in LDAP catalog. Dovecot will be working together with Postfix MTA running on same computer. I'm a bit confused how to achieve following thing: I want Postfix to use Dovecot LMTP server for mail delivery. All
