dovecot starts and then exit
I've just installed dovecot on FreeBSD 6.1. Running MySQL 5.0 on another server. Postfix version 2.3.3 Dovecot starts then exits with no error messages. I've run it as a daemon and on the command line with -F option How do I run it in debug mode so I can figure out why it does not stay running. The maillog has a startup message dovecot: Dovecot v1.0.rc7 starting up Ed Dovecot.conf

Advances usage of rpcclient
Hi. We are looking for a way to query the contents of a registry (regedit) in a remote windows machine. Currently the command "querymultiplevalues" works if I set the complete key path like this 'querymultiplevalues "Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Winrar archiver" DisplayName' but for our application to work, we need a way to query the path:

Seive + Spamprobe terminates with signal 6
Ubuntu 20.04, Dovecot 2.3.7.2, SpamProbe v1.4d. For the past weeks my sieve filters that call spamprobe have been crashing out for some users. I have a dozen similar server setups and this is not happening on any of the other servers and it was working just fine for a year up until recently. This particular server is quite busy. There is plenty of disk space and inode usage is about 2.5%.

dovecot-1.2.2+sieve 0.1.9: sieve issues with (global?) includes
Hi, After upgrading from dovecot 1.1 to dovecot 1.2.2 and the new sieve implementation (0.1.9), I'm having some strange problems. I'm including some general purpose scripts into my user script from sieve_global_dir. After some tests it seems that ths scripts get executed at random: sometimes the mail gets stored in the correct dir, and sometimes it goes to inbox. This also happens while

FLAC Albums on sale this month
I don't want this to sound like an advertisement, because I'm certainly not making any money off of this, but Bleep.com is having a sale on lossless downloads, and nearly all of the titles are available in FLAC. http://bleep.com/index.php?page=dynamic&module=marchsale Bleep offers a nice alternative to Linn Records and HDtracks, in case your tastes are more underground.

Using deliver from Getmail?
Hello list, a quick question: can I use Dovecot's LDA "deliver" as a destination in Getmail? I.e.: [destination] type = MDA_external path = /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/deliver arguments = ("-d", "username",) Or is deliver not supposed to be called this way? What I'd like to do is use deliver in the same way I would have used procmail ages ago. Getmail

building dovecot-sieve against installed dovecot
Hi Timo, may I request once more to consider the attached patch for dovecot 1.1, it enables the sieve plugin (incl. sievec and sieved, needed for pysieved) to be built against an installed dovecot package, if --enable-header-install additionally installs the liblib.a library in the same directory as dovecot-config. I have included this patch in the pkgsrc dovecot 1.1 package a while ago. Geert

patch to make sieved compile & work
Hello, attached you'll find a patch to make the Sieve decompiler located in dovecot-sieve/src/libsieve compile & work. To compile sieved I've extracted the two commands from the make process for sievec, see the attached sieved.compile.sh. Dovecot / Sieve
Hi, As the "new Sieve implementation" is using a "gratefully stolen copy of deliver.c from dovecot" (i.e. a dirty code in mail-raw.c), would it be possible for the Sieve piece 1 - to be using files from dovecot directly rather than copying&changing it (which is very bad for maintenance) 2 - to be incorporated in the hg/mercurial tree of dovecot ? Thanks a lot

What to read about interactions
Hi, TL;DR: I am having a hard time synthesizing the information I need out of the website/wiki documentation, and google isn't turning up what I need, so I'm looking for advice on what I should read next to understand the way aliases, dovecot's lmtp, and pigeonhole work together. Details below. I've been using dovecot happily for some years, but in a recent migration of my mail

Order in which UIDs are assigned..
Hi, I just want some clarification on how Dovecot's IMAP assigns UIDs when it picks files from the "new" directory of a Maildir. What I am observing is that only ctime has a role to play in it. For example if there are two files in "new", a.msg & z.msg. Even when a.msg has lower mtime than z.msg and "a" comes before "z" alphabetically, dovecot

ldapsearch w. SSL refuses to connect to server with openssl 1.0.1 (worked with openssl 1.0.0)
Hi, ldapsearch with an ldaps-URL stopped working recently, probably with the update from openssl 1.0.0 to openssl 1.0.1. On a server with up-to-date packages (openssl-1.0.1e-16.el6_5.x86_64, openldap-clients-2.4.23-32.el6_4.1.x86_64) I get the following errors when issuing an ldapsearch (some parts anonymized): [bad]# ldapsearch -H "ldaps://ldap.domain.org:6636/" -D <binddn>
