ProxyJump: Connection reset by peer
Hi, I'm using ProxyJump via a local sshd (in a separate network namespace) to connect to a remote host. It works fine the first time, but if I connect several times in a row in a short period of time, I suddenly get a "Connection reset by peer" error. This happens to be reproducible. If I wait a few seconds (let's say 15 seconds), the connection is restored. I have tried to

Problems with bridged networking
Hi, I''m using Xen 3.0.3 on two servers with Debian Etch (amd64). These servers have 10 nics (2 onboard and 8 in two 4-port cards) so that every vm can have its own interface. This worked so far with the Xen Version from Etch with a wrapper script wich started 10 bridges at boot time. But now I''ve updated Xen on one of these server to Xen 3.2.0 from backports.org and now the

Minimize sshd log clutter/spam from unauthenticated connections
Dear OpenSSH developers, a publicly accessible sshd on port 22 generates a lot of log clutter from unauthenticated connections. For an exemplary host on a university network, sshd accumulates 5~20k log lines on a single day (more than 90% of the total amount of syslog lines). That is despite the host having a restricted configuration (no SSH password authentication, firewall rate limit for

Minimize sshd log clutter/spam from unauthenticated connections
modern syslog daemons (including rsyslog, which is default on just about every linux system) allow you to filter efficiently on the message contents, not just the severity, so you can opt to throw out the messages you don't want. I advocate for a slightly different way of dealing with it, filter these messages from your main logstream, but put them into either a script directly, or a

Bad smbclient put performance and smbfs write performance
Hi, I've had extremely bad smbclient put performance when connecting from my Linux box to a Windows 95 box. I only get about 10KBytes/s! All other forms of data transfer work fine, and I get from 600-700KBytes/s. This is on a local 10BT LAN. I've seen a few other reports of this, but no solutions as of yet. smbclient does puts just fine to another Linux/Samba Server. I'm using

Is OpenSSH known to be less stable on Windows?
I run ssh-based reverse tunnels on Windows that allow external machines to connect to Windows. When ssh was running as a native Windows process - there were problems. Tunnels worked, but they randomly disconnected many times a day. Additionally, sometimes it wasn't possible to connect to the existing tunnel from outside for unknown reasons. The ssh server in the outside machine had to
