*****SPAM***** Upgrading from rc27 to rc29?
After sending a messasge about a problem (The folder 'Inbox' cannot contain
items. Namespace problems) I found what seems to be a fix in the release for
rc29.
Besides any potential configuration files, do I need to delete the old index
files? Any of the dovecot files?
Based on the release notes for rc29 it seems the following will fix the
problem we are experiencing:

unknown namespace with Mac OS client
I see in this thread,
http://dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2006-April/012918.html, that others had
simmilar problems with Mac OS client.
Anyone got a working Dovecot + Mac OS setup?
In particular with RC15.
Our setup

separator = .
prefix = INBOX.

Would it help to use

LDA + sieve +Maildir?
I have a working Dovecot + LDA + Maildir setup and am looking to implement
sieve with it. The examples that I have seen seem to be for mbox. Does sieve
work with maildir?
Looking to move mails marked as spam to a spam folder.
Also we have a feature we offer to send spam to a different account in the
domain. Could this also be done with sieve?

Script: Moving Maildirs between servers
Hi,
I just migrated from dovecot 1.0.rc29 to 1.1.7, from Sparc platform to
Intel, it went very well.
In the process I merged folders and excluded folders from being copied.
User rights on folders were kept/set.
I thought I'd share my migration script with you folks. If there's an
interest to put it on the wiki I can do that, but I'm not sure in what
page.
Use it as a starter if you

Move from 1.0.rc29 to 1.1.7?
Hello!
I am moving my mail from the old server with 1.0.rc29 to a brand new
server with 1.1.7. I use Maildir in both servers. A few questions:
1) The new server has another name, can I just copy the mail files
as-is, will the server name in the file names matter?
2) The new server has a different architecture and different endian, so
I plan not to copy the index and cache files; they seem to

Samba stops working after moving machines
A client changed offices.
Upon connecting the machines at the new location samba is not working.
In particular I am getting an error:
Workgroup is not accessible. You may not have permissions
to use this network resource.
Network path is not found.
The only difference between the previous location and the current is that
they have not gotten internet connection in the new location yet. Other

Need help configuering Dovecot to support folders that contain sub-folders and messages
Hi -
Last year I set up a new CentOS 5 server and through the install
process permitted it to set up dovecot as my IMAP server.
./dovecote --version returns "1.0.rc15"
With the system up and running I moved the tar files of my old email
accounts over and everything seemed to be just fine.
Recently I have upgraded my primary workstation to a Mac Pro - and
that of course has

dovecot.index only gets updated in Root maildir Folder
version 1.0.rc15
(Newest Version available in Debian 4.0, newer version in testing tree requires
new version libc...)
I got a procmail rule that moves mail from some senders to another folder, e.g.
.archive.facebook/ . This works fine, the message appear in
.archive.facebook/new if i "ls" that directory by shell. But dovecot.index files
don't get updated, hence IDLE doesn't

Maildir format, "From " in the first line
Hello,
Using Dovecot's deliver MDA, all mails are stored with the line
"From <sender> <date>" appended. When forwarding these mails as attachements,
the recipients get the source code.
When Postfix delivers emails directly in the Maildirs, this first line is not
appended, and there is no problem when forwarding the mails.
Why is this line appended by deliver ? Is

BUG (and suggested fix) in maildir code
Hi all
I'm using dovecot 1.0.rc15 to serve a maildir by IMAP.
I have an IMAP subdirectory called subscriptions. The messages are in
maidir/.subscriptions/cur/ etc.
Dovecot is renaming the directory .subscriptions/ to subscriptions/
This means that when my IMAP client requests this directory, it gets the
message "no such directory", and dovecot also gives the error message:

Moving Maildir folders
Our office had a user leave. Another user is taking over her duties and needs reference to the
departing user's email. I've copied that entire departed user's Maildir structure to the current
user:
mv olduser/Maildir/.* curuser/Maildir/.olduser
I did change permission and ownership on curuser/Maildir/.olduser to be the target user. I did
not bring over the olduser/Maildir/dovecot*

Problem with manually moving maildir files between folders
dovecot --version
1.1.beta1
With previous versions of Dovecot I could manually move maildir files
between folders and the index would automatically update when entering
the folder with Thunderbird. However, with 1.1.beta1, I am seeing the
following when entering the folder, when attempting to rebuild the
indexes via Thunderbird, or when attempting to force the download of all
messages in the
