IMAP Dovecot unknown namespace creating root folders
Hi, I hope someone can point me in the right direction here. I am migrating a mailbox from a non cPanel server, and the mailboxes have folders which seem to be at the same level as the Inbox. The users access these mailboxes using IMAP. The new server configuration is Exim > Dovecot 1.2.17 > Maildir with the standard cPanel install settings. dovecot -n output below I have created the new

var_expand and pop3_logout_format
Hi. -alpha2 broke the retr-byte-count field of the pop3_logout_format with the following change: -Added %R (reverse string) and %H (hash string) variable modifiers. %R as modifier conflicts on expand with %R as retr-byte-count in pop3_logout_format resulting in expanded strings like: top=0/0, retr=1/ del=0/1, size=431 seen in -alpha3 -alpha4 cvs as of 04.11.2005 FreeBSD 5.4-R, both i386

Dovecot 1.0rc7 quits without notice
Today I switched one of our servers from Courier (deployed 3-4y ago) to DCrc7. Everything seemed very nice (system load dropped significantly). Unfortunately after some time and ~8000 pop3-logins the main DC loop just quit without _any_ notice. Some pop3-login childs still showed up in the processlist, but the main listener on port 110 was gone. The above described scenario has been observed 2

Postfix with Deliver (LDA) - user unknown
Good Day All! I am attempting to configure deliver as our LDA. I am also configuring the server to use Postfix instead of Sendmail. I have followed the all the documentation and examples I could find. Below are my Dovecot and Postfix configs. Can someone please smack me upside the head and tell me why I am getting "user unknown" errors? If i don't use deliver as the LDA, all

spamc can't seem to call /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver
Hi, My server uses a system comprised of postfix, dovecot and dspam to filter and deliver mail. Postfix used the following flags in calling spamc and dovecot: flags=DRhu user=dovecot:secmail argv=/usr/bin/spamc -u ${recipient} -e /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver -d ${recipient} after an upgrade from Debian lenny to squeeze we were able to get everything working except spam filtering. Spamassassin is

High Load average on NFS Spool - v.2.1.15 & 2.2.13
I have two servers pointing to an NFS mounted mail spool with dovecot.? Since I recently switched from using Dovecot v1.X, I have been experiencing high CPU use with the two Dovecot servers. I am not certain why they are not well behaved.? Here is the configuration information. This configuration is currently running at a load average of 17. /usr/sbin/dovecot -n # 2.1.15:

dovecot: Fatal: IMAP(user2): write(event_pipe) failed: Bad file descriptor
Hello. Since I upgraded few months ago from version 1.0 to 1.1 (right now using v1.1.rc4) in logs for some users only (but in different servers) I noticed errors: dovecot: Fatal: IMAP(user2): write(event_pipe) failed: Bad file descriptor dovecot: Fatal: IMAP(user3): write(event_pipe) failed: Bad file descriptor So only for some imap users. And in different servers. And this error happens

pop3 deleted count
On pop3 logout, we're seeing log lines where the deleted count is blank (using default pop3_logout_format), so "del=%d/%m" is displaying in the logs as: "del=/1186" for example. In src/pop3/pop3-client.c:552: tab[4].value = client->delete_success ? dec2str(client->deleted_count) : 0; Shouldn't this be: tab[4].value =

syncing imap servers with imapsync
hello list, I am attempting to sync two imap servers using the imapsync perl script. It seems handy and easy. Here's what happens when I try to do this: # # Postfix master process configuration file. For details on the format # of the file, see the master(5) manual page (command: "man 5 master"). # -o smtpd_sasl_auth_enable=yes # -o

Bug in Exim->Dovecot auth
Hi. I'm using SMTP auth with Exim authenticating against Dovecot's auth socket. My (excellent) SMTP test tool "swaks" (http://jetmore.org/john/code/#swaks) tries multiple auth mechanismus consecutively which leads to the following message in Dovecot's log file: Error: auth(default): BUG: Authentication client gave a PID 6738 of existing connection I'm not sure where to

Investigating suspected cache corruption
Hi David and all, I?ve read the mail you posted in the Dovecot list. We?re are having this same problem in a site which is very similar to yours. We also migrated from Courier to Dovecot nearly 9 months ago, and every now and then users complain about slowness in the imap connection. We fix it by removing the index files in the user's maildir. We use Horde as webmail, but the problem

Defer emails until the user is ready to deal with them (snooze button / bring-forward file / bring-up file for emails)
Hi, I would like to add a feature to my email-client (Thunderbird) which stops emails from showing up until a specific time (e.g. having buttons for: show again this evening, tomorrow, next week, next month ...). As far as I've learned this is not possible with IMAP: - storing the 'do-not-show-until-time' within a custom header-field requires down- and uploading of the whole email and

Investigating suspected cache corruption
Hi All, I'm running Dovecot 1.1.11 for a site of about 7000 active users with a Squirrelmail frontend. We migrated from Courier (big shout to everyone who worked on the wonderful part of the Dovecot wiki that deals with Courier migration) and I have been extremely happy with the performance gains Dovecot has given us. Not only is the IMAP part of Squirrelmail faster, but our same

Imap Logout format
He all, I'm migrating a big system from Courier to Dovecot and we have a custom analyzer logger system to Courier logs. We have got the very similar specs on IMAP LOGIN log, but I can't get the Logout format. Courier write like that: ... imapd: LOGOUT, user=luism.martinez, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1], headers=0, body=0, rcvd=131, sent=632, time=0 ?Is there any Variables on

disable_plaintext_auth = no as no effect on IMAP/POP3 logins
Hello In my installation the disable_plaintext_auth does not appear to take effect. I can see that the value is correct using doveconf -a but it doesn't change anything. Whenever attempting to log in using IMAP I get this: * BAD [ALERT] Plaintext authentication not allowed without SSL/TLS, but your client did it anyway. If anyone was listening, the password was exposed. ls NO
