Dovecot Crashing after MySQL Auth
Hi, I'm running a mixed Debian Woody/Sarge system with Dovecot version: (0.99.12-1) I can't seem to be able to get dovecot working with mysql. It seems to authenticate successfully then crash. This happens when I use the Debian package and also when I've compiled from source. dovecot: Jan 06 12:21:14 Info: Dovecot starting up dovecot-auth: Jan 06 12:21:15 Info: MySQL: connected to

Dovecot LDA, quota, sieve
Hi, While moving services to a new server, I finally decided to switch from exim + procmail delivery to exim + dovecot-LDA (dovecot 1.2.5). All accounts are virtual - their settings are stored in mysql. This also includes configuring Quota and Sieve. So... there come some doubts: 1. Using "deliver" As I see, deliver uses auth-master socket to retrieve the mailbox settings

director map and mysql
hello! Is "doveadm director map" command suppose to work when I store "host" value in mysql table? It gives me nothing in output with no errors in log. I've successfully setup directors with static passdb, and decided to give a try setup with storing host value in mysql table. The proxying is actually working, I'm just unhappy with no output from "doveadm

dovecot tpop3d UIDL mbox
Hello All! I am new to this list so I hope I'm not in the wrong list with my question. First, I have to say that dovecot is (in my opinion) one of the best POP3/IMAP servers arround. I especialy like its' simplicity (configuration) and powerfullness (speed, auth mechs). In my production environment I would like to cange from tpop3d to dovecot, but I have only one little problem :).

[patch] support tpop3d-style UIDLs
Hello, I've attached a patch that adds an additional expando to pop3_uidl_format. The additional expando (%M) expands to the md5sum of the filename (which is already available via %f.) This UIDL style is compatible with tpop3d when using Maildir. The patch is against dovecot 1.0 beta3, and I'd love to see it be merged into the official tree. Comments welcome. -- Ben Winslow

Question about migration from tpop3d mbox -> Dovecot maildir
Yes, again! :) I googled this issue but found no solution. Then, simple question - on this moment, it is possible without losing UIDLs or not?

auto_complete galore
List, I''m using auto_complete with textfield, called CompanyCode. so when you type fx ''0403'' it will show a list with matching company codes, and the respective company name - like so: 040333 - Some company inc 040322 - Another company 040323 - whatever Corp. Anyway, once a user selects one of the entries from the list - the whole text (name and code) is put into

Performance, dovecot vs tpop3d
Hello, I am new to the list and have spent extensive time researching performance suggestions through the list and the documentation. Particularly interesting is the recent performance thread related to the upcoming release. I just upgraded one of our email servers from tpop3d to dovecot 1.0rc19. tpop3d has served us well for many years; however, it basically has lost all it's support

Indexing Performance Question (was tpop3d vs dovecot)
Since posting the previous thread we've setup a new system (Opteron 2.0ghz, 1gb ram, Fedora 6) for testing. I am hoping somebody very familiar with the indexing portion of dovecot can shed some light on this for me. After much testing, I've come to one primary conclusion that dovecot is possibly unnecessarily scanning or reading files within the maildir directories. Take a mailbox

Weird DISKS behaviour on 4.8-STABLE
Hello people, I have been experiencing a weird problem with 4.8-STABLE for a long time. I was ignoring it, thinking that it was a problem with the SCSI disks or perhaps the contoller. I changed the disks from the original Intel box to a Compaq box and I still noticed the problem was there. What happened is that all of a sudden, the disk would 'fill' up with nothing! Yes, that's true.

Restricting Services (POP or IMAP)
It would be great to have a HOWTO in the wiki, on how to restrict services by username in dovecot, so some users are allowed IMAP and others not allowed. As concerns restricting users by IP, I believe that is a bad idea. It's almost a useless idea, imnsho, because they can connect from another IP. It's easy to restrict services by IP using a firewall or by using inetd. -Wash

1.0rc7 - dumb question
I am configuring dovecot 1.0rc7 to authenticate users (system users) in /etc/passwd. Is it possible to use a different auth mechanism, other than "plain", when the encrypted password is in /etc/master.passwd (BSD style)? -Wash http://www.netmeister.org/news/learn2quote.html DISCLAIMER: See http://www.wananchi.com/bms/terms.php --
