Thinking Outside the Box - Extending IMAP
Here's some thoughts I'd like to throw out there. I know it's not standard IMAP protocol but someone has to try new ideas first and I want to see what people (Timo) think of this. IMAP establishes a connection between the client and the server. Wouldn't it be great if it could be a conduit to let custom Thunderbird plugins talk to custom server application over the IMAP

Compiling under Fedora Core 4 - Problem
OK - trying to migrate to dovecot and I like what I see so far, but having a hard time getting it to work. I decided to go with the 1.0 version because I need to get away from the ~/Mail namespace. I'm trying to port from a Linuxconf virtual WU-IMAP type config. So - I compiled but then decided I wanted mysql so I tried to reconfigure and now getting compile errors. Looks like I'm

dovecot with Calendar or Contacts?
When I attempted to import my Contacts list into dovecot, my mail client told me that the IMAP server did not support "Special" folders. Is there a way to to do the contacts, or sync up Contacts & Calendar from a database or something else? I'm using both Thunderbird and Outlook. Thanks. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

tests with metadata module
--Repost after subscription as list member --- I made some tests with metadata support in dovecot 2.2.10. Previously I had dovecot 2.2.4 with external metadata plugin who work well. I use dovecot with roundcube and roundcube plugins from kolab project . First, the feature activation was tricky and rather undocumented. I spent about half hour googling, after that I set: imap_metadata = yes and

Aw: Dovecot - Postfix Calender Synchronisation
I still find impediments to the adoption of any of those "solutions". Too many software dependencies, like PHP, DB, python, and a virtual machine. --- There are two portable file formats for calendar and contacts that work across applications and systems, but no server that can use them, and use them safely. Calendar and address book with Dovecot
Hi all I recently install Postfix and Dovecot, and so far so good. My assumption was that calendar and address book (similar to Gmail calendar or address book) are part of Dovecot. However I do not see anything concerning them in any of the docs I have read so far. What other software (ideally open source, free) do I need in other to have Calendar and address book so my users can manage their

Looking into a solution for Caldav (and possibly carddav) support
We have an existing Dovecot/Postfix/Roundcube email solution, which I was hoping to add Caldav (and carddav?) support to, with the goal of 3rd party email clients being able to keep contacts and calendars in sync (as well as having the same information in roundcube) In doing research, I came across traces of it being considered for Dovecot at one time
