Fwd: rsync on OSX for transferring files using FAT32
Hi, Which version of Mac OS X are you running? If you are on Mac OS 10.5.x then I can only suggest that you try either formating the drive to HFS + or creating a disk image with an HFS+ file system. If you are running Mac OS 10.4.x then ensure that that ACL support is enabled on the drive. The following URL contains information on how to check and enable ACL support :

pre 1 OSX errors
Hi Wayne, Trying out 3.1 pre 1 on OSX 10.8.4 I like the new extended stats and the ir-chunk file numbers in log. Also getting a lot of errors and most copies not completing to local disk. rsync just stalls. Standard osx build: patch -p1 <patches/fileflags.diff patch -p1 <patches/crtimes.diff patch -p1 <patches/hfs-compression.diff ./configure make rsync --fileflags --force-change

OSX and HFS+ filesystem compression
Hi All, I have been reading about the HFS+ filesystem compression on Snow Leopard and how copying or cloning over system files with rsync and other tools results in them being expanded on destination. I was wondering if there was any thoughts on updating rsync to accommodate this? It is kind of a shame to the lose the benefits of the new compression. Thanks, Rob

HFS filesystem on linux + samba -> Mac
Hi A friend has a disk with an hfs filesystem on it; we'd like to move it to a Debian (etch 2.6.18-6) box and share it via samba 3.0.24. I can mount the hfs disk and see the files on the linux box : good I can share a normal (xfs/etx3) fs via samba to the Mac : good Although I can share the hfs fs via samba, the extended attributes are not visible; so the existing files on the hfs

LOCKD errors
Running the nightly from two days ago. The Dovecot log shows no errors, but I keep getting login errors for a few users. top shows: 71486 user1 1 96 0 4552K 2408K lockd 0 0:00 0.00% imap 11170 user2 1 96 0 4440K 2480K lockd 0 0:00 0.00% imap And a ps aux shows that these processes have been open for hours. If I move the mbox that contains their mail, the same

Story teardowns?
Does the plain text story framework support teardowns? There doesn''t seem to be anywhere to put an "after" method. My stories test an application which parses and modifies a directory tree, which is currently generated in a Given-clause, and I want it to be deleted after each story. (I don''t mind if the stories take a few seconds to run, the specs are still fast)

[PATCH] is it of any interest ?
Hi, While looking at icecast's sources, I wondered if this was feasible, so I've tried and it seems to work: the attached patch allows a /cgi-bin/ url in icecast-1.3.11 to launch cgi scripts directly from within icecast. you have to put the real absolute pathname to the cgi script, and it seems to more or less work. WARNING: you must use two slashes after "cgi-bin" for an

imap + unmounted home disk
dovecot 0.99 still (RHEL4), I'm sorry to say. The config is for mbox's to live on the user's home disk. If the user tries to make an imap connection when his home disk is unmounted, various permission denied messages are logged, as expected, but then the imap process seems to hang around instead of aborting. The result is that eventually the imap process limit is reached, and even

Feature request: Sync Mac OS resource forks and metadata on Mac OS X
I have a feature request for rsync. I tried posting it to the FAQ-o-matic, but that system didn't seem to be accepting new questions. I hope this is an okay list for the request--apologies if it's misdirected. Mac OS X provides support for the Mac file system resource forks and mac specific metadata (e.g., creator and file type). Most Unix applications ignore this information, but it
