parameters to deliver
Read this in the dovecot sieve wiki: "The envelope sender is taken from a Return-Path: header in the message. The envelope recipient is taken from -d option passed to deliver." Is "-d" still a valid deliver switch? When I configure postfix's main.cf like so... mailbox_command = /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/deliver -d -e ..it sqwaks with, "Jun 18 18:44:50

sieve vacation: write to the .lda-dupes database without generating a vacation response.
I'm using Dovecot's sieve extensions quite happily, they are very good! Thanks for all who worked on them. I have a question that maybe is appropriate for a sieve-specific discussion list, so if there is one I should post to instead, please let me know: I've poked through the sieve vacation RFC and all the documentation I can find and I cannot figure out how to do this. LDA + Postfix + LDAP + Sieve (Vacation): Wrong Domain in Reply
Hello everyone. I'm running dovecot (1.2.9) with postfix (2.7.0) on an ubuntu 10.04.1. I'm hosting mail for several domains and using the dovecot local delivery agent. Everything has been working great. However, today I set up a sieve script to send out-of-office replies (vacation) for one of our users. I tested it and got the response just fine. However, when looking at the

Problem with LDA. When vacation auto-reply sent, the field from=<>.
Hi, My problem is that when vacation auto-reply sent the field from=<> Because of this does not work "sender_dependent_relayhost_maps" in postfix. My scheme is: There are several postfix on different machines 1.1.1.1 - domain1 2.2.2.2 - domain2 3.3.3.3 - domain3 All they send messages to one server virtual_transport = lmtp:10.10.10.10:24 where mail is stored. Multiple vacation
Hi all I'm using Dovecot 2.2.9 and I'm having problems configuring multiple vacation actions. The problem is that I'd like to have two different senders and two different messages, selecting the correct case by the recipient email address. I mean, if someone writes me to my email address "to-address1 at example.com" I'd like to answer from "from-address1 at

Sieve vacation reply problem (Dovecot+Sieve/Sendmail/Horde)
Hello Dovecot community, I have an annoying problem with successfully activating Sieve vacation replies - on which I have been working hard the last days without success :( I'm using Dovecot 2.2 + Sendmail + Sieve connected with Horde web-mailer IMP H3 which is generally working fine. BUT: Whenever I activate vacation script in Horde (via Ingo) and send a test-mail to this account, the mail

OS X Mail Administration
I'd like to request some feed back from any OS X Mail Admins on the list, please. Currently running 10.4.9 here using postfix / dovecot and I'm about to take the plunge from mbox to maildir. I just migrated from uw-imap to dovecot. As you're aware, users inbox's are customarily stored in /var/mail/% username and personal folders under /Users/%username/Library/Mail/IMAP.

lda: vacation auto-reply for a virtual address
Hi, I am using Dovecot to manage a complex virtual mailbox setup. It's all working splendidly, thanks to the Dovecot LDA. This morning, however, I needed to create a vacation-style autoreply for one of the virtual addresses. I made use of cmusieve, authored a little sieve script, and had it working in no time... until I discovered how limited sieve's vacation module is. Most importantly:

Auto discard sieve vacation messages
I have deploy an environment with pigeon sieve, managesieve, dovecot, squirrelmail and avelsieve plugin. The vacation messages are working fine. I am looking for a method to discard vacation messages in some date, when the user returns. Has somebody looked in this feature? Vacation -- reply to another address than envelope from
Vacation (Sieve) replies to the envelope address. However, I have a customer which receive e-mails from a service which sends e-mails on behalf of a user (submitted through a web form). So an e-mail would be like (envelope from and from-header is webformfromwhatever at foobar.com): From: webformfromwhatever at foobar.com To: mycustomer at hisdomain.com Reply-To: usersrealmailaddress at

I am using this simple sieve script to do "vacation": require ["fileinto", "vacation"]; if exists "X-Spam-Flag" { stop; } vacation :days 1 :subject "Out of office reply" :addresses ["<email address hidden>", "<email address hidden>" ] "I am on vacation until 2008-08-07. sieve & vacation question
We have a setup where a Postfix gateway does virtual_alias rewriting of the envelope sender: ralf.hildebrandt at charite.de get rewritten to hildeb at postamt.charite.de The mail is then sent on to postamt.charite.de, the Mailbox server. There we use deliver & doecot. The sieve vacation recipient says it won't answer if: "The envelope recipient is not found in the message To:, Cc:

dovecot, sieve and vacation
Hi there ! Have a small problem with sieve and vacation: it seems to descard the vacation filter I created instead of sending back an email: Mar 20 11:56:28 hostname dovecot: deliver(virtual_user): sieve: msgid=unspecified: discarding vacation response for message implicitly delivered to <virtual_user at hostname> after searching a bit on the net, I stumbled on another (old) thread:

How does sieve's vacation keep track of duplicates?
I see the .dovecot.lda-dupes file that is created, but it doesn't seem like just plain text, and it doesn't seem to include strings of the senders, just the recipient. But I know the vacation functionality is clever enough to keep track of who it's already autoreplied to. On a related note, I'm curious about other smarts built in to sieve's vacation responder -- what other

Starting using LaunchDaemons
I've figured this one out... Just wanted to get it into the dovecot mailing list archive so that somebody in the future might find it if they need it. Running Dovecot on Mac OS X 10.4.11 and using LaunchDaemon to start. Following a system crash, dovecot failed to restart with this in the system log... Sieve vacation :addresses match only case-sensitive?
The recipients in the vacation :addresses String list are matched case-sensitive. If the recipient gets a mail with wrong case, the message is discarded with: "discarding vacation response for implicitly delivered message; no known (envelope) recipient address found in message headers" I think the matching should be case-insensitive. Is this a bug or do I miss some option? I'm

sieve vacation script exclude based on sender email address
I thought I'd asked this question a few years ago but can't seem to find any eveidence of that so here goes. I've been looking at the sieve docs and recipes, done a lot of googling but no joy so far. Using stanard vacation script and that works great, however I want to exclude certain sender email addressess from ever receiving a vacation autoresponse, how do I go about adding that
