Effects of going read-only on dovecot & pop/imap clients
Hi all,
We need to set our filestore to read-only for quite a while, and I want
to mitigate the effects for our clients. First issue; dovecot. If we
just change the nfs mounts to read-only, dovecot complains:

Quota exceeded messages
When I try to move messages between folders I get 'Quota exceeded' messages.
I installed dovecot without any major configuration and accounts are
created with PostfixAdmin.
Is there some common setting that I must be missing?
Version in use is 1.0 rc26

POP Question
After upgrading to Alpha 4 I have two people complaining about a POP
problem. Aparently they are getting their email sent to them over and
over. They have it set to "leave messages on server" but apparently
whatever keeps track of that is broken.
So - how is it determined with POP what is new and what is read?

MAC Address prefixes of Voip equipment
Is there a database of MAC address prefixes used the common VoIP
devices. I see the Linksys Sipura devices state with 00:0E.
Does the same apply to other Linksys VoIP equipment?
Is there some way VoIP equipment allow themselves to be identified by
requesting data from some ports?

Dovecot UIDs and POP.
Hi,
I recently performed a mail server migration for a client under fairly serious time constraints (ahem, yes one of those jobs). I would normally use imapsync to get all the mail copied to the new server, but under the circumstances, I had to write a script to rsync each of the mailboxes over ssh, from one server to another.
This all worked fine, except for the fact that if a client was using

Asterisk system for church call center
I have been asked by my church to recommend a VoIP system which can do
the following.
They do internet radio shows which are sometimes broadcast on radio.
They are looking for a system which does the following for about 5
agents, exactly as they have described it.
1. Take incoming calls
2. Put them on hold if there is no one to handle the call immediately,
or transfer them to an available

PHP implementation of dovecotpw passwords
I am looking for PHP functions that implement passwords that much the
dovecotpw implementation.
I downloaded one from PEAR, Crypt_HMAC, but the passwords it
generates look nothing like the dovecotpw passwords, which could be my
fault because I know nothing about the field.
Is there a guide or some library that implements them to match dovecotpw?

Yes, of course. And the directory structure was pretty much identical between the two. Which was how I was able to write and run the rsync script.
I think at this point, I'm past

POP UIDL
Hi
I run a small mail server with Dovecot and postfix. Several of the accounts are popped by an external email provide I use, mostly out habit and also for a bit of redundancy. I have no details on that external server except that it uses exim.
Lately, it's been repopping mail from accounts (mail is left on the server so I can use IMAP) at fairly frequent, but undetermined, intervals. Before

Smallest possible Asterisk VM
How small can an Asterisk system be, in terms of disk space utilized?
I am looking for just asterisk, with mysql, postgresql, or sqlite,
with PHP and Python.
After finishing the build and removing the tools, how small can the
whole system be?
100Mb, 200Mb?
Can packages be used to build the whole system, like using debs and rpms alone?

POP server migration and duplicate messages.
I'm having trouble with Dovecot where my mail client (if it matters, I'm
using Evolution) collects some duplicate messages when switching between
POP servers that have the same messages on them. I'm doing this as a test
for server migration for all of our clients.
Here's my procedure:
1. set up Dovecot and Exim on the new server so that everything works like
on the old server.

dsync connection issue
I'm trying to move from my exising server to a new site. In preparation
for this I've set up the new server as per the first attachment.
I've added additional (temporary) setting to the new site as per these
instructions
https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Migration/Dsync
but when I try to do a backup with the following command from the old to
the new site

dovecot migration
Dear List,
To migrate a dovecot server from dovecot-1.x to dovecot-2.x, then I
wonder if the UIDL format "pop3_uidl_format" setting is required in the
configuration file for clients not to re-download the same mails from
the migrated mail server. Currently, no UIDL format is set in
/etc/dovecot file of the one using dovecot-1.x server which means it is
commented out as default like

UIDL question
Hi all,
I'm migrating a Postfix + Dovecot 1.0 server with mboxes to Qmail + Dovecot
1.4 with Maildirs and encounter the following the problem.
Using perfect-maildir.pl from: http://perfectmaildir.home-dn.net/ i can
relatively succesfully convert the mbox to a Maildir. The problem, however
is that clients with "leave mail on server" set to on retrieve all email a
2nd time.

How do I make dovecot not use sslv2 for pop?
From nmap:
995/tcp open ssl/pop3 Dovecot pop3d
|_ sslv2: server still supports SSLv2
|_ pop3-capabilities: USER CAPA UIDL PIPELINING RESP-CODES TOP
SASL(PLAIN LOGIN)
pop3 allows SSLv2, imap doesn't. In my dovecot.conf I have:
ssl_cipher_list = ALL:!LOW:!SSLv2
at the global level. Do I need to put it inside the protocol pop3{}
section?

Empty/corrupt mail leads to duplicate delivery
Hi,
when the attached mail was stored in a maildir, fetching mail via POP3
lead to multiple delivery of mails in that maildir to the client
(Outlook). I replaced the domain with dots.
This is the dovecot configuration:
--snip--
protocols = imap imaps pop3 pop3s
listen = *
disable_plaintext_auth = no
ssl_cert_file = /etc/ssl/dovecot/server.pem
ssl_key_file = /etc/ssl/dovecot/server.key

billsec is set to duration if call is not answered
The behaviour of my Asterisk appears to have changed suddenly without
any apparent cause.
The version is use is 1.4.27.1
When a call is not answered billsec is set to duration, and calls are
charged. I can't see any change I could have
made to cause this problem. Is it something already known in Asterisk?

Migration
Hi!
I'm currently running an small imap-server on Dovecot 2.2.4 but will
retire that server. I've set up an new server with Dovecot 2.3.4 and
will migrate the mailboxes (maildir-format) from the old to the new
server. I'm planning to restructure the accounts a bit when migrating so
I need to move them one by one. Its only a few so thats not a big issue.
Both servers are using

rsync /old/server new/server ?
I have Centos 7 with dovecot/postfix/mysql Maildir
I want to bring in a new server, new server will have same hostname as
current, but, different IP
I was intending to
rsync -avzhe ssh vmail at oldserver:/var/vmail/vmail1 /var/vmail/vmail1
and, then, re run as necessary when/if mail still arrives on old server
is that "a good plan" ...?
TIA, V
