mailsync: NO Unexpected EOF
Hello, I am trying to migrate off a MS Exchange 5.0 server. I am using mailsync (http://www.linux-france.org/prj/imapsync/) to copy the files to a Dovecot server, version 0.99.10.7. For particular messages I get the following error: Couldn't append msg #114081 (Subject:[RE: balh blah]) to folder INBOX: Error trying to append: 826 NO Unexpected EOF I think this is Dovecot, complaining

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Thank you for the reply. I did find imapsync whilst perusing Google. I will give it a shot, it sounds more realistic/reliable. I have a hoard of emails going back to 1999, so I want as few errors as possible :) On 11/7/15 3:31 PM, Philon wrote: > Hi there, > > I was in the same position, but for mutliple accounts. Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Hi, With imapsync you will lose message UIDs which means that IMAP clients need to clear their local caches and redownload all messages. Why not use dovecot dsync over imapc instead? It tries to preserve UIDs and Flags. http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Migration Sami > On 07 Nov 2015, at 23:35, Forrest <those.lists at gmail.com> wrote: > > Thank you for the reply. I did find imapsync

Hi, I think you tried to read cyrus mails folders directly. I was talking about fething mails from cyrus over imapc connection. Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Hello, Because it did not work ? In a similar situation, we where forced to use isync/mbsync in imap to imap mode because dsync did not work. It was reported here more than a year ago (May 2014). Time to time, I see the same report from other trying to use dsync to do a migration to dovecot. Dsync is a very appealing and elegant solution to this usage, but it does not always work in real

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
v2.2.19 has many fixes related to dsync+imapc, which were found while migrating several million users from GMail. I'm not aware of any problems with it now. Also even before v2.2.19 dsync+imapc has been used to successfully do many large migrations. > On 26 Nov 2015, at 17:49, FUSTE Emmanuel <emmanuel.fuste at thalesgroup.com> wrote: > > Hi, > > No, I tried fetching

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Hi there, I was in the same position, but for mutliple accounts. Still you might want to look at imapsync (https://github.com/imapsync/imapsync), isync and offlineimap. There are more alternatives listed at the imapsync homepage. Dovecot setup fails w. multiple mail locations (gnus/dovecot/offlineimap)
Hi, I am trying to setup a Gnus - Dovecot - Offlineimap - Webmail (Gmail / Fastmail) chain and cannot configure the correct behaviour. Any advice to get this working properly would be very appreciated! I have set up Offlineimap to synchronise two mail accounts into separate folders under ~/Maildir. After running Offlineimap, the folders look as below. Maildir/ |-- Gmail | |-- cur | |--

Problems Converting from Cyrus to Dovecot (cyrus2dovecot)
Hi, No, I tried fetching over imapc too exactly as you suggested. In my case it was not from cyrus, but from CriticalPath. isync was finally able to do the job, preserving flags and doing UIDs mapping. The most boring part was generating proper config file for thousands of accounts. A working imapc/dsync would have been better. Emmanuel. Le 26/11/2015 15:24, Sami Ketola a ?crit : > Hi,

bidirectional synchronization of dovecot-managed maildirs
Hello and happy holidays, I've been thinking about high performance bidirectional synchronizing the mail on my laptop (which is frequently disconnected) and my workstation at work (which is always on and receives all inbound mail). Both run dovecot on top of maildir. I've been playing with offlineimap, unison (which I already use for all my non-mail files), as well as the gnus agent (in

IMAP to Maildir Migration preserving UIDs?
Hello all, I'm facing the need to migrate from a proprietary IMAP server to Dovecot. The migration must be as smooth and transparent as possible. The mailbox format I would want to use is Maildir++. The storage format used by the current server is unknown, and I don't look forward to trying to reverse-engineer it. This leaves me with the option of reading the mailboxes using IMAP.

addind imap support to rsync
when seeking for syncing two imap maildir folders one has the choice among many programs such as imapsync, isync, offlineimap ... But all of these provide individually only a few options. For example syncing a folder by only appending unexisting files, i.e. without deleting anything seem to be supported by no one real imap syncing software stable release. Here "real syncing" means a

doveadm sync backup from old to new server
I struggled with this at one time, and with the lack of examples around the internet. In fact, I might have written this very post myself at one point! In the end, the penny dropped when I saw that the format was (command on local server) + (stuff you need to connect over ssh) + (command on remote server) So what worked for me was: doveadm backup -u user at domain.com \ ssh -p 2222 (+ other

sync with gmail?
Now that gmail added imap, I've been trying to see if I can sync gmail/imap with my local dovecot maildir. I've been trying offlineimap. So far, I've created a loop resulting in a directory with size > 1000000 entries. Anyone try this and have a working setup?

Syncing several emails accounts with offlineimap and dovecot
Hi, I have just installed dovecot and offlineimap on my laptop for syncing with my gmail, and reading in gnus, as outlined in this article: http://sachachua.com/wp/2008/05/08/geek-how-to-use-offlineimap-and-the-dovecot-mail-server-to-read-your-gmail-in-emacs-efficiently/ I am using Debian Etch, and I am the only user. The only change I made to the default dovecot.conf file was to set:

IMAP Migration Tools
Hi, I am looking for tools to migrate Mails from one IMAP-Server to another. Until now I have always used imapsync, but it seems very slow. Even over a 2x10GB/s connection I only get speeds of about 600KiB/s, because the programm always pauses betweeen every single mail. Does anyone here have a suggestion for an alternative? Thanks in advance Julian

doveadm sync backup from old to new server
I'm not clear myself on the difference myself between dsync doveadm sync doveadm dsync-server ... perhaps someone here can explain? However what worked for me was using doveadm dsync-server on the 'receive' end. Maybe that puts it in 'listen' mode? So maybe try doveadm backup -u user at abc.net \ ssh root at po.abc.net \ docker exec b3093cxxxxxx doveadm dsync-server -u

syncing imap servers with imapsync
hello list, I am attempting to sync two imap servers using the imapsync perl script. It seems handy and easy. Here's what happens when I try to do this: # # Postfix master process configuration file. For details on the format # of the file, see the master(5) manual page (command: "man 5 master"). # -o smtpd_sasl_auth_enable=yes # -o

Syncing emails from external server like Gmail

Here is the 2 main reasons: 1) It add extra header overhead similar to: Received by localost at time, etc....) 2) It put emails in local delivery queue so syncing becomes slow. 3)
