javascript woes with radio button groups
Ok! So I have this survey project I''m working on where there are a list of
questions but only one shows up at a time.
That part''s easy. And, it is fully functional as we speak (and I think even
''live'') however.....
My boss wants to be able to have the survey go to the next question when a
user selects an answer. This part is easy.. except.....

Pre-populating association
Hello,
I think this is an easy one for the average Rails developer but I''m a bit stuck.
I''m creating a simple voting app: any user can create a survey, with any number of questions, and other users can then vote by creating a ballot for that survey.
Here''s the modeling:
class Survey < ActiveRecord::Base
has_many :questions
has_many :eligibilities

Rails newbie: passing a value to hidden form field, then getting it
Warning: I am as green as #00FF00 with rails :-)
I have an rhtml view that shows a survey: /views/survey/show.rhtml. I
have a Survey model, helper and controller. I''m using the
acts_as_commentable plugin to collect comments, and trying to save
user comments from users who have taken a survey (don''t ask -- it''s
just a test).
To save the comment, I need the id of the

Radio Button events
Hi,
I have observers for a group of radio buttons, an observe_field for each
radio button (I think its not possible to have one observe_field for a
group of radio buttons).
Now, the problem is that when I click on one radio button, all the
observers get trigerred, so the method which the observe_field calls
gets the wrong result. I just want that method to get the radio button

Add data in between Simple Form association members
Hey there,
I am trying to use Simple Form''s association to list a bunch of radio
buttons like so:
<%= simple_form_for(@applicant) do |f| %>
<%= f.association :track, :as => :radio_buttons %>
<% end %>
Assuming each track has many courses, how can I take every track from that
association and loop over its courses to display them below the radio

Getting value of form using Ajax (and problems with Safari)
I have got two forms, the first is a textarea plus a link that activates
some javascript to change the form, the second activates some javascript
on the onchange event which changes it into a textarea form.
This works in Firefox, but not in Safari.
Also, I need the value which is selected. I''ve found an example that
gives the parameter to the javascript, like this:

Bad design or better way?
I am at a loss as to whether this page of my site is poorly designed or if
there is a better way to achieve what I am looking for.
My concern lays in one piece of controller code. I really don''t like the
way I have to use params[:answers].values, nor do I like that for the
creation of each response it has to find the answer associated with it. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

Radio Button Validation
I''m writing a quiz application and I need to validate the radio button
reponses. I do not have the questions in a database, I just have forms
which contain "question1" and then I strip out the "question" portion
and just insert the number as the question''s id. So now I''m faced with
the dilemma of making sure the radio buttons are pressed.

Dynamically add radio buttons to forms?
Good afternoon all
I''m trying to implement a form that dynamically inserts radio buttons
into a form. The user selects options from a drop-down menu. I use
observe_field to watch for a change and call back to render the
appropriate partial tha contains the radio options. All works nicely
but I''m tripped up on one thing:
When rendering a form using form_for how do I link those

controller code for access to params in radio button column
I am new to Rails, and I thought I understood params, but I''m a little
fuzzy on what goes into the controller to access a third value for a
radio button. In my migration I defined the column as a string with a
default value of nil.
The column itself is actually a question(no question mark appears in the
column though)with three choices in the radio button form: yes, no, and
undecided.

radio buttons and event obvsering
Hi,
I made a little utility class that turns on a particular div when a
radio button is clicked - a RadioButtonDivToggler. As the name
hopefully suggests, when a radio button from the same group is clicked,
a different div is made visible and the others are hidden. In essence,
it toggles on (makes visible) the div associated with the radio button
from a group that you clicked. However,

Advice on package design for handling of dots in a formula
I am working on a new package, one in which the user needs to specify the
role that different variables play in the analysis. Where I'm stumped is the
best way to have users specify those roles.
Approach #1: Separate formula for each special component
First I thought to have users specify each formula separately, like:
new.function(formula=y~X1+X2+X3,
weights=~w,
