imap crashes on deleting an e-mail with no message-id.
Hi,
I'm on RC21 on a Solaris 10 SPARC box.
Somehow I managed to receive an e-mail with no message-id and when dovecot
tries to delete the e-mail. Viewing the e-mail is not a problem though.
I attached truss to the imap process and this was what I received:

pollsys(0x000B7A88, 3, 0xFFBFF870, 0x00000000) = 0

Missing MIME-Version header in e-mails.
Hi,
I notice that in src/lib-mail/message-parser.c, there is a section of
code that checks for the presence of MIME-Version before allowing
processing of the Content-* headers.
Is there a possibility of relaxing this rule? There are some broken
mailers, in particular newsletter mailers that do not seem to honour the
MIME-Version header, though they do send the Content-Type.
Cheers.

Binary locations
Where do you think the following binaries should be installed to? The
possible locations are:
- bin/
- sbin/
- libexec/dovecot/ (or lib/dovecot/ in most Linux distros)
So the binaries are:
1) These probably belong to bin/ or sbin/ or both:
- authtest
- dovecotpw
- doveadm
2) Binaries that you might want to call from mail_executable setting:
- rawlog
- gdbhelper

Folder renaming oddities.
Hi Timo,
We are observing some weird behaviour when we try to rename an inferior
folder, followed by the superior folder.
These folders have an asterisk in the name.

* LIST (\HasChildren) "." "*Own Family.Tour"

mail-log: Same log entry when one deletes/undeletes an e-mail.
Hi Timo,
I'm on RC24 with the mail-log plugin.
It seems that when one deletes or undeletes a message, the log entries are
the same:

Client transaction logging in dovecot.
Hi,
Seasons greetings! :)
May I know if it's possible to log the commands issued by clients in
dovecot? For instance, RETR and DELE commands in POP3 and their equivalent
in IMAP?
I can't seem to be able to find the appropriate configuration key.
Thanking in advance.
Cheers.

mail_log plugin, log throttling and killing of the IMAP child.
Hi,
Just a quick check, was wondering if anyone is experiencing problems
mass deleting/purging mails from a folder?
I am on RC19 with the mail_log plugin enabled. Quite often, when a mass
deletion/purge is attempted, we receive the following message in the
dovecot logs:
dovecot: Feb 01 11:36:27 Error: IMAP(userid): Sending log messages too
fast, throttling..

Pretty late for changes if v1.0 is supposed to come out tomorrow, but I
can't really leave these LDAP bugs unfixed. They shouldn't anyway break
anything, so here's one more day for you people to find out about any
bugs.

lstats on all files in Maildir when opening an e-mail.
Hi,
I'm running RC19 on a Solaris 10 SPARC box.
It seems that whenever I open an e-mail in any folder via IMAP, dovecot
appears to scan every other folder in the Maildir.
A truss reveals that it is lstat-ing every e-mail in every directory.
I'm sorry I am sending only a fragment of the truss, it's really too
long... but is this behaviour expected?
Cheers,

Mails causing imap process to hang.
Hi Timo,
We are getting e-mails from a certain domain that seem to cause the IMAP
process to hang.
Here's how it looks like if we issued a FETCH 40 FULL:

pop3 creates bad index file
Hi,
When I use pop3 to log on to a (Maildir) mailbox that doesn't yet exist in the
filesystem, the pop3 server autocreates it for me. This works.

Newbie: unable to access mailbox more than once
Hello,
I'm using dovecot as a mail relay so that I can back up my providers
IMAP mail locally. I'm impressed how easy this was to set up, but I'm
having a quirk that I would like help with, if possible.
There are many weak links in my set-up chain, if you will, but I think
I've narrowed the problem. I'll describe my set-up anyway. I'm running

Best way to migrate from Qpopper to Dovecot
Hi List,
what do you think is the best way to migrate (to a new maschine) round
about 30000 mboxes (Qpopper) with an amount of 43Gigs data, to maildir
format (Dovecot).
I think there are two ways:
1.
- stop services (smtp and pop3) on the old maschine
- copy the mboxes to the new maschine
- run a conversion script (for excample: "Perfect_maildir"
http://perfectmaildir.home-dn.net/)

Dovecot 1.1 rc9 compilation warnings
I've tried compiling 1.1.rc9 on everything to hand and I get various
compilation warnings (but the compilation finishes). I don't know
whether any of them are worth tracking down?
I'm guessing most of the differences depend on the default gcc options
and a couple of them are probably specific to our setup.
All were configured with
./configure --prefix=/opt/RDGdovect

Question about pre-indexing maildirs
I have a situation with many users and an existing mail delivery
agent. Seems like I once saw an imaptest program which I imagine
might be used to pre-index maildirs.
For example...
- remember which users and user maildirs have changed since
last pre-index
- when system quiet pre-index any maildirs which have had
mail delivered and no access by a mail client (using some
