shared mailboxes question
I'm using a virtual mailbox setup. Lets say my users have mailboxes in
/home/vmail/domain/%u. What I'm trying to do is setup one namespace
that points to /home/vmail/domain and contains everyones mailboxes that
I can subscribe to. Is this possible?
I tried using a symlink to /home/vmail/domain but it doesn't work
because its looking for the dotFoldername. The only way I could

shadow_copy for homes share
I have successfully setup shadow_copy for normal shares on our samba
test server. However, I cannot get it working for the homes share
because of its uniqueness.
Here is the homes share:
[homes]
comment = Home Directories
read only = No
create mask = 0700
directory mask = 0700
browseable = no
fstype = XFS 1.2
vfs object = shadow_copy

undelete messages?
I'm using the lazy expunge plugin as configured in:
http://wiki.dovecot.org/Plugins/Lazyexpunge
The page claims users can undelete messages without assistance from a
sysadmin. How is this accomplished? When I try to subscribe to the
folders under the EXPUNGED namespace, nothing happens.

Question about folder sharing
Hi,
I run dovecot (2.1.7) on debian wheezy in conjuniction with postfix,
samba4 (as ldap backend) and sogo. I configured folder sharing but have
an few issues.
With my current config users can share the inbox and other folders. If
the acl allows creatings subfolders this does work for all folders
beside inbox.
What i want to archiev is the following:

how to deliver when username and email differ
I have an Active Directory virtual setup and am using LDA to deliver to
local recipients. Today I found a big problem with my configuration and
not sure if this is fixable. Some of the users have multiple email
addresses and the %n variable for user doesn't match their actual
username. So if I have realname "Joe Bob" with a username of "joe" and
an email of "jbob at

question dovecot Inheritance global acl vs userfolder acl
Hi Timo
my tests resulted in
inheritance is given if a userfolder has set some acl to its new created
subfolder , which is nice
if some userfolder has its acl from global acl
there is no inheritance to its new created subfolders,
that subfolders will always created with full owner rights
i am not really sure if its a good idea
to have inheritance from global acl and
if its hackabel what is your

Dovecot v1.2 ACL inheritance for new subfolders (aka copying ACLs)
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hello,
http://wiki.dovecot.org/ACL mentions:
"Currently there is no ACL inheritance."
However this applies to a folder inherit ACLs to existing subfolders; when
you share a folder and a non-owner creates a sub-folder within, no ACLs
are set, hence, the creator cannot access the new folder. Could the

Samba + set POSIX ACL's over Windows
Hi,
we recently purchased a NAS (QNAP) with Samba version 3.5.2. In order to assign permissions on subfolders we enabled Posix ACL's. The problem is that we need to allow only a certain group to do this. The ACL entries in our smb.conf are the following:
acl compatibility = auto
acl check permissions = Yes
acl group control = Yes
acl map full control = Yes

Settings ACL question
Read wasn't the question. Question was about removing children but not the
parent.
parent-folder -> not removable
|_ Children1 ->
|_ Children2 -> both removable
I don't know how Samba deal with that, but that's not the point for now.
For now you have to understand NTFS permissions a little bit (I have not
the knowledge to write something like a lesson about NTFS

\HasNoChildren versus \Noinferiors in ACL plugin and no CREATE permission
Hi,
using ACL plugin with dovecot 1.1.1 I expected that a Maildir was listed as
* LIST (\NoInferiors) "/" "Foldername"
if "create" (k) permission is not set in ACLs and there doesn't exists any
subfolders. But to my surprise, dovecot gives the following output:
* LIST (\HasNoChildren) "/" "Foldername"
Therefore the client (here:

ACL plugin: k permission and sub-subfolders
Hi,
I'm trying to disallow the creating of subfolders for some special folder
for all users. Using ACL plugin for this seems to work at first glance but
is not a full solution or is buggy as it allows the creation of
sub-subfolders.
I'm using the following ACL and namespace separator is "/":
$ cat folder
owner lrwstie
Note: no "k" permission

Acl not working
Hi I have a share running on a domain member. My domain root user is linked to the domain Administrator (user map).
When I go on windows to the share as Administrator I can access it. Then I change the acl settings. I give domain users access to the share. For some reason the changes are not visible on the unix system getfacl returns:
root at dna:/data# getfacl /data/share/

dovecot.conf like this
namespace public {
separator = /
prefix = Public/
location = maildir:/var/mail/public/

recursive acl problem
Hi,
i ve got a problem with
recursive acl, using not a vfile global backend.
( no default acl)
In my understanding
every folder(directory)
needs a seperate dovecot-acl
files with permissions.
This works fine, but my tests showed
using a shared namespace
like i.e.
namespace shared {
separator = /
prefix = "users/%d/"
location = dbox:/usr/local/virtual/%d/
inbox = no

acls not copied when creating subfolder of private INBOX
Using brand new dovecot 2.1.5 I still have a problem with the inheritance of acls.
Setting:
- maildir with private INBOX and public folders.
- users maildir directory (/home/mail/user/ahelmcke) contains dovecot-acl file
- public folders root directory (/home/mail/Fax) contains dovecot-acl file
When creating a subfolder of the public folder the dovecot-acl files gets copied to the subfolders

Shared mailbox ACL
Hi everyone,
I am having some trouble with shared folders in trying to replicate how we use them with a Cyrus backend.
The auth database is Samba4 active directory, so I am using an LDAP lookup to authenticate and forcing the UID and GID to be all the same. I have a post-login script that sets the group ACL, and this seems to be working fine. /mnt/mail is an NFS mount to a FreeNAS machine, and
