shadow_copy for homes share
I have successfully setup shadow_copy for normal shares on our samba test server. However, I cannot get it working for the homes share because of its uniqueness. Here is the homes share: [homes] comment = Home Directories read only = No create mask = 0700 directory mask = 0700 browseable = no fstype = XFS 1.2 vfs object = shadow_copy

ACL question
Does ACL's apply to all subfolders? For instance, if I create a dovecot-acl in a Maildir/, does it apply only to the INBOX or does it apply to all subfolders as well?

shared mailboxes question
I'm using a virtual mailbox setup. Lets say my users have mailboxes in /home/vmail/domain/%u. What I'm trying to do is setup one namespace that points to /home/vmail/domain and contains everyones mailboxes that I can subscribe to. Is this possible? I tried using a symlink to /home/vmail/domain but it doesn't work because its looking for the dotFoldername. The only way I could

Testing sieve filter

Dovecot itself is working fine, and I have the following config: root at master:/var/log# dovecot --version 1.0.rc2 root at master:/var/log# dovecot -n # /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf log_timestamp: %Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S protocols: imap ssl_disable: yes disable_plaintext_auth: no login_dir: /var/run/dovecot/login login_executable:

I used Lazyexpunge. I tried to create .DELETED without any hints and see that the creation was successful. I want to prevent users from creating .DELETED, what should I do? Overrideing pop delete?

Lazy expunge plugin
There's now a plugin called lazy_expunge in CVS. Instead of EXPUNGE expunging the mails directly, they're moved to a mailbox with same name in another namespace where user can still copy the mails back. Also DELETEd mailboxes are moved to another namespace. See http://wiki.dovecot.org/Plugins/Lazyexpunge for more information. This is similar to Cyrus's two phase expunge:

Lazy expunge
When I try to use it i get undefined symbol: dlopen(/usr/lib/dovecot/pop3/lib02_lazy_expunge_plugin.so) failed: /usr/lib/dovecot/pop3/lib02_lazy_expunge_plugin.so: undefined symbol: namespace_find_prefix Does anyone has this problem or I've compiled it with too agresive flags? Plugin "lazy_expunge" and subfolder
Hi Timo, hi all, we want to use the "lazy_expunge" plugin (from dovecot 2.1.10) and had configured it in a test environemnt like described in "http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Plugins/Lazyexpunge" (1 namespace) There are some subfolders from "INBOX" (like "INBOX/SPAM") in a "maildir++" configuration. All actions on first level directories

status of undelete
Months ago there was a thread here about the implementation of a simple undelete-function (i.e: dont delete files, but move them to a folder). Is this this still a relevant idea or has this feature low priority ? thanx, peter ps: anyone knows about a 3rd-party software (propably on nt-side) that implements such a feature ? -- mag. peter pilsl phone: +43 676 3574035 fax : +43 676 3546512

password too long
I'm trying to connect a linux machine to a windows machine share using an Active Directory domain account. I'm using smbfs and I get the following error, "Access denied". After some troubleshooting I found that the password is too long! The password works with 23 characters but if its 24 or more characters it fails. I am copying/pasting the password so there is no chance

Undelete some files?
Hi, my / is located on /dev/hda6 and my "personal storage partition" - the palce where I store my important files - is located on /dev/hda9. I've deleted a couple of files in /dev/hda9/xyz/abc. Exactly I've deleted the whole directory "abc" with mc. Now hda9 is unmounted, of course. Can you give me a recipe about how to recover those files, please! Probably

need undelete function
> ps: my little suggestion: if we add some parameters at smb.conf like > protected dir = /home/share, /home/user1 ; > trashcan dir = /smbtrash ; Such an addon to samba would make me weep tears of joy. The trashcan is a "security blanket" feature that Windows/MacOS/OS2/BeOS users now take for granted. Convincing them that this is now impossible because we've

how to deliver when username and email differ
I have an Active Directory virtual setup and am using LDA to deliver to local recipients. Today I found a big problem with my configuration and not sure if this is fixable. Some of the users have multiple email addresses and the %n variable for user doesn't match their actual username. So if I have realname "Joe Bob" with a username of "joe" and an email of "jbob at

need undelete function (Jeremy, what is your idea?)
Hi there: > ps: my little suggestion: if we add some parameters at smb.conf like > protected dir = /home/share, /home/user1 ; > trashcan dir = /smbtrash ; It seems that implementation of such parameter has some difficulties and eventuates reduction on performance (e.g. handling "protected dir"s and "trash dir" on the different devices like /dev/hda1
