alpine + Maildir
Hello,
I am trying to configure pine.conf for all users and running into an
issue. In this setup, Mailbox format is Maildir and Maildir location
is /Mail/Username/{new,cur,..etc}
First thing required in alpine was patch for maildir and this has
already been done. After that I have tried setting up
folder-collection Mail #md ../../Mail/username and also tried using
#mc (not sure which one is

(Al)pine on CentOS 6
Greetings,
The alpine mail rpm indicates that it comes packaged with configuration
files (/etc/pine*conf*). However, they aren't there. Possible?
Also, how did you get rid of the annoying alpine bug: a message that keeps
flashing - [Folder vulnerable - directory /var/spool/mail must have 1777
protection]?
Thanks.

Dovecot raw backtrace when copying to folder
Seeing a problem with a certain user causing dovecot to crash when copying
mail to a folder. This looks similar to a bug someone on the mailing list
posted recently.
Since the backtrace mentions the index, I tried deleting all of the index
files for the user (including subfolders) but it had no effect. Seems that
the bug still happens when creating the index for the first time.

OT: Looking for a robust IMAP client
This weekend we had a runaway email endless loop. When it was killed
after 18 hours, my inbox had 135,000 messages in it...there were two
messages that were being endlessly sent and bounced and I'm on the
postmaster alias. Thunderbird was able to do a mass select of one of
the two messages, and deleted 65,000, but after that it locked up. I
ended up firing up Pine to do the final

mailboxes missing after upgrade from 2.1.4 to 2.1.7
Hi all,
I mentioned this on the #dovecot irc channel, but I thought I would post
here so I can provide more details.
The basic problem is that when I upgraded from 2.1.4 to 2.1.7, some
users no longer are able to see their folders in pine/alpine. The
folders are actually there, and are subscribed (according to doveadm)
and its possible to do operations on those folders, if you know the
name (for

Dovecot Sieve crash
I just transferred the files in my home directory from an x86_64 machine
to an i686 machine. This included the .dovecot.sieve and .dovecot.sievec
files in my home root, and the Dovecot index files in my ~/Maildir
directory. Everything seemed to be working until I tried sending an email
that triggers a Sieve "redirect" command, then I got the following in the
logs. I then tried

dovecot can't see mail that is there
I used to install dovecot on any Fedora fresh installation and I could fetch
my internal mail
few minutes later. Now I've been struggling for two days and I haven't got
my mail working yet.
I have Fedora 14 with sendmail. Some application on the same machine send
mail to an account
on the same machine (hence all is confined to one machine) and I want to
retrieve it from a laptop

local rimapd not working with 1.1.1, fatal error
Hi all,
I just upgraded a couple of Fedora 9 workstations to try out 1.1.1 over
NFS'd homedir's and I'm having trouble running dovecot in the same
configuration we were with 1.0.14.
It's fairly simple, we use pine/alpine and set a couple of variables to
fork rimapd directly:
* smtp-server=host (for the main mail machine)
* user-domain=host (same)
* set the

Hello!
I saw your post to the mailing list
(http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2006-January/010968.html) where you
write "A description for pine with imap acces without entering any
password is also discussed.", but I didn't find such description in
this post.
Would you be so kind to point me to some source where it is
explained - currently users have to insert the

I'm really sorry, but it was a long day yesterday. I forgot to mention
that I used alpine:edge (based on the alpine master branch) image to set
up the build environment. So there were some version changes.

[OT] Fetchmail and Mutt help
Hi All,
I setup Fetchmail and wanted to use Mutt to read e-mail. I used to use
Pine and I just am sick of GUI e-mail clients these days. Bloat,
complication and unreliable. Pine was my first ever e-mail client. I
prefer to use POP still as I want may mail on my machine at all times.
I can go into mutt and execute: 'fetchmail -v' and watch it bring down
my e-mail.
But in mutt i dont see

Hello Timo,
With dovecot 2.1.rc1 (056934abd2ef) there seems to be something wrong
with virtual plugin mailbox search patterns.
I'm using a virtual mailbox 'unread' with the following dovecot-virtual file
$ cat dovecot-virtual

unseen
For testing propose I created the following folders with each containing
one unread message

pine 4.64 with CentOS with LDAP
Hello
pine 4.64 on CentOS 5
I have successfully compiled 4.64 with SSL and it works fine.
However, I like to add LDAP feature.
I am having trouble with compiling it with LDAP.
I built the latest stable openldap-2.3.38
I did include this when I built openldap:
./configure --with-cyrus-sasl
Compile process gives me these errors below.
Any clue as what I may be doing wrong?
Thanks,
Farid
